Any weapon was a process to make, and each weapon had a story behind it, whether it came from those who wished to do better or to aid others in some way, or if the weapon had been forged by skilled hands who made it their life's work to simply create. Cora could only express her gratitude a for the praise that had been given to the weapon, her shield. Though, she would have to agree with Danny. Her weapon did not go through quite the fiery ordeal to be made.... Or tested. Oh the stories that poor faunas boy had.

She smiled to herself and glanced to her weapon, encouraging it back into the rounded shield of before, with the bladed edge once more glinting in the afternoon light. She happened to see the inscription upon the back of it, which was always opposite of the blade, yet would rest behind the blades when the shield was set as a crossbow. It was a simple saying that she and her brother would recount to each other now and again, and most would never realize that it was there. It had no purpose, really, but to remind her of her goals and dreams, whatever they happened to be.

Her smile became soft as she reflected on this, and then she brought her gaze forward. She really hoped they didn't run into anything.... but there was always room for a surprise or two.

"Think what we're looking for is going to be guarded?" She asked this to anyone, but Danny was the closest.

Danny thought for a moment. "It has to be. I mean, it would be too easy, otherwise. My guess is that the final boss for our little test might be the giant, feather-slinging murder bird." He replied, referring to the Nevermore. Danny knew they could handle the small Grimm, but a beast like this, both colossal and airborne? Possibly, though his lack of appropriate flight or weaponry would be a handicap. The horse boy would need to come up with one hell of a plan to even touch that thing. "Question: does anyone in this group have the power to make a horse fly?" He asked, both jokingly and seriously at the same time.

Iris has asked Ariana about her visible shiver but Ariana must have been too busy cuddling with her owl to have heard Iris. It was a cute sight to see and Iris felt like an observer catching glimpse of a rare creature in it its true nature; untroubled by any and all in the world.

With a shy smile Iris tiptoed away like the doe she is and began to look into the woods as Team ACID delve further into the forest. Iris recalled the sounds of the river from when she had taken a bath, which was totally killed by Danny earlier, and as her ears reordered that white sound she perked her attention over towards the river's direction. The sounds were getting louder. Iris was sure they were nearing the waterfall as described on the mission specs via Scroll. Iris felt that their goal was nearing them but it was closing in just as fast as danger was.

"Question: does anyone in this group have the power to make a horse fly?" Danny had asked aloud, but the way he said it...did he also 'feel' something nearing too? "Sorry Danny but I'm not a magician." Even though there was no danger in eyesight Iris couldn't help but feel uneasy.

Cora took a slow breath in and then released it about as slowly. She shook her head as she considered what she could do. Her shield was sturdy, and if she had enough force going... there was the chance that she might be able to gain the power needed to launch someone.... The biggest worry she had concerned his weight.. he was easily four times her weight... probably closer to eight. She didn't think she was strong enough...

"Um...." She ran her fingers through her hair and absently began to untangle a few knots that had gathered in it. Why did Danny ask that..? ... If it was something he wanted to try, she worried about finding the opportunity to...

"I don't understand... why would you want to fly when you've got the advantage on the ground, Danny..?"

Danny frowned a bit. "Well, I have a real good feeling that the Nevermore is close by wherever these relics are, and I don't exactly have the tools or the...body type to take on a colossal flying abomination...keyword being flying." He said. He needed some way of taking on the bird. He was sure the others had some form of firepower, but Danny's flamethrower couldn't reach too far. Perhaps if he found some crazy way to bring it down. Well, that's what he had teammates to help figure out.

At some point during their tentative walk through the forest, Ariana found herself somehow split away from the group. For some reason or another, Nia had drifted off asleep and ceased to keep guiding her alongside her companions. Very likely as a result of it being mid-day, a time which owls would typically be resting and it's attempts to be more akin to the species it was based off of. That or Ariana had become so enraptured by the book which she'd drawn out of her jacket that she began ignoring Nia's attempts to get her righted back on course.

At any rate, how swiftly she'd become lost was amazing. What was even more amazing still, was how she managed to find herself at the entrance of the forest where a few instructors were waiting. Placed there to ensure the students who left the forest had the necessary relics, otherwise fail on the spot for "abandoning the mission". Upon reaching these instructors, she found herself in an awkward position. She could no longer return, it was against the rules, once she stepped outside, even if she had been distracted, she was not permitted to enter again. Just as she submitted herself to the idea that she managed to fail on her first outing, Nia hooted and bounded about until a piece fell out of her feathery form. Her chest puffing out proudly as she had located one and pilfered it when her master failed to take notice of her surroundings.

And thus, the piece in hand, however without her fellow companions, she left the forest a success, however a teamless one...

Left teamless and abandoned in the forest would likely have upset a great number of students. Johann however was not one of those people. When left to his own devices, he took time investigating the forest, playing pranks on various teams which he came across and even managed to trick an Ursa into falling off a cliff. A feat which he was quite proud of mind you. The ability to walk and glide about the air is quite the useful one. Especially for a trickster like Johann. He took notice of a lone silver haired girl walking about on her own, even thought of approaching her to sse what tricks he could play on her. However as he intended to do so, he witnessed something which caused him to swiftly re-think the situation. As she walked, a Beowolf attempted to sneak up from behind, only to have a shield burst out from beneath her cloak, deflect the attack and the creature be blasted at point blank from what he could only imagine was some sort of soul attack. Nothing remained where it once stood, and she continued walking unhindered by the terrain as she continued to read her book, eyes never having left the pages. "Hel incarnate that one... I don't want to join their ranks..." He muttered to himself as he skittered off.

Skating through the sky for several minutes he felt the drain on the cloak as he slowly descended, touching down as his staff extended from the passive bracelet and into his hand. He still had about a minute left which he could remain airborne, but figured it best to allow his cloak to recover whilst he still had flight time remaining. The forest alone is still a dangerous thing, even for an icy man like himself. He started walking, tapping his staff against trees and plants, covering them in frost as he walked towards a large bush and was greeted with the sight of three students beyond it. He twirled his staff, set the butt end down and rested his chin on the ornament as he cracked a smile. He'd heard the last fragments of their conversation and it was something which he could very well remedy. He kicked off the ground, gliding up into the air above them and sat there upon the crystallized water particles in the air. "Hello, hello!" He said cheerfully as he made them aware of his presence. "Because flying is fun! They're great vantage points for playing tricks." He said with a smirk as he gazed down at them, slowly descending until his feet touched the ground before he rested his arm on his staff. Pulling his hood back and smiling brightly in greeting, his crystal blue eyes full of mischief yet kind.

Cora wasn't sure what she was hearing or what to do about it. She turned and lifted her arms, ready to act in case the sound was hostile, only to be surprised to see for herself that the one who just landed. She also felt... fairly surprised that she wasn't able to locate Ariana... wasn't she just...?

I hope she's alright... Cora slowly relaxed and her arms lowered to her sides. This... was a bit of a surprise. She didn't expect someone to fall from the sky and boldly admit that flying was fun. She didn't have much experience with flying... so she would trust his word on that one.

She nodded slowly. It would be alright. Was he another team-mate? Was he lost from another team? ... Perhaps time would pass and they would learn everything they needed to know. Cora decided this was the best viewpoint for now. She allowed herself to breathe.

He seemed calm and polite, his clear eyes reminded her of the sky, open and full of lively energy. What a unique individual.... Cora wasn't sure whether to speak up or how to respond to the words that followed his greeting, laced with a curious chill. He favored icy dust, it seemed....

This uneasy feeling hadn't left Iris just yet but for now she put that issue on the back burner as she continued walking deeper into the forest, between Cora and Danny. Daniel had a point, with all of them talking about the subject of flying. Everyone knew that Danny was the tank of the team, or at lest Iris seen him in that way, but with his body type he wasn't the most mobile member of the squad. A sudden sortie could be an issue against their tank but that's what back up is for. "Be it by sky or sea, you've got us to help you out Danny. I'm not sure just how we'll deal with the Nevermore but I know that we'll kick it's feathered butt no matter what." She smiled up to Danny. Iris doesn't have many long range technique, with her weapons being dust empowered shield & spear, but she was confident in her team's intellect. Traps and tactics were all hunter's best friend.

"Hello, hello!" A strange yet cheery voice called to the team which made Iris glance up, a little shocked to see a guy floating on air. That uneasy feeling Iris had been sensing this time...it seamed to grow as the mysterious hooded guy revealed his brilliant eyes. "W-who are you? Why aren't you with your team?" Iris quickly asked in a accusatory tone. He might be a student who has gotten separated...but wait, where is Arian! With her uneasy feeling Iris was beginning to think that this guy might have something to do with Arian not being in sight, but she stayed open to the possibility that his guy might have nothing to with any wrong doings at all.

Curious response to his arrival, one completely silent, the other immediately suspicious. Of course, he too might have been suspicious of someone descending from the sky and engaging in conversation without the slightest of introductions. Then again, he was prone to doing so, so if someone did the same he'd merely respond in kind and continue about his business. Yet she did pose a question which he played with his bangs for a moment frosting the tips of them before responding. "Well, you see, the team I had. Well..." He motioned to the air with one hand before actually speaking what was on his mind. "They up and left me actually. I'm certain it wasn't intentional, buuuttt well I can be as cynical as I want given that I was left alone in the forest for so long." He chuckled softly before shrugging.

"I did see a girl traveling through the forest on her own, I would have approached her, but that owl gave me the creeps. Wouldn't stop staring, as if I would have done anything..." He seemed somewhat upset that he hadn't been able to prank the girl given the vigilant eyes of her companion however continued as normal after. "I think she walked out of the forest from what I saw anyhow. Once you leave, you're not permitted to return after all. Unless the team were disbanded for some reason." He smiled, the concept of one lone person remaining in the forest as long as he had likely didn't cross his mind in the slightest. Of course his distinct lack of body temperature likely made it more difficult to track him if a predator, say relied on thermal vision or the like.

Just then, as he was fiddling with the gem atop his staff, he heard a beeping from within his belt. Pulling out the scroll which was emitting the soft chime he inspected it. "Oh looks like I've been assigned to a new team. I wonder if they finally realized I was still in here." He laughed wholeheartedly as he read the scroll, the scrolls of the others around him began to chime as well. "Let's see... Cora Duncan, Iris Kenmasuta and Daniel Crane... Oh these pictures look suspiciously like you three. Imagine that!" He rolled the scroll up and tucked it away whilst softly humming "Let it Snow" before he spoke up again. "Unless you've got twins in this forest...Which I doubt since you're the first centaur I've yet to ever meet." He said with a smirk before he lifted his staff, spun it around in hand and pointed it at the sky, launching an icy projectile into the air where it exploded about twenty feet up. Snow began falling around them, at which point Johann bows and officially introduces himself. "I am Johann Isolde, virtually the literal embodiment of snow and ice, at your service." He smiles as he lifts up from the bow, resting his chin on the staff while standing there before them with a smile. Allowing them to contemplate just what exactly it might mean by what he said. Of course if one were to say, touch his hand or face, he was quite literally freezing.

"Well, you see, the team I had. Well..." Iris wasn't sure what the mysterious new guy was talking about at first when he pointed to the skies but it soon all made sense. "They up and left me actually. I'm certain it wasn't intentional, buuuttt well I can be as cynical as I want given that I was left alone in the forest for so long." Thou the mysterious new guy could chuckle at the situation Iris felt this thing of anger p***k her, and unbeknownst to Iris her brow furrowed. How could a team leave one of their own behind? Did they have no honor? "I did see a girl traveling through the forest on her own, I would have approached her, but that owl gave me the creeps. Wouldn't stop staring, as if I would have done anything..." "A girl with an owl? That must be Ariana!" Iris then took a step foreword towards the boy. "Could you tell us what she was doing?" "I think she walked out of the forest from what I saw anyhow. Once you leave, you're not permitted to return after all. Unless the team were disbanded for some reason." Iris then panicked and whined. "What are we going to do!?" And by we Iris ment all of Team ACID. "I don't wanna get kicked out just because Ariana decided to walk away from us! It's all because of that super cool looking book she got distracted and ended up heading the wrong way! What am I going to tell my brother when I see him and I have to tell him he's got to do this on his own because I failed and have to leave!" Sob and sad face. Like some comic relief character Iris rushed to Danny and began crying on him, covering her face like a child until the mysterious guy mentioned something after a ping on his scroll. "Oh looks like I've been assigned to a new team. I wonder if they finally realized I was still in here." Iris sniffled once before looking up at the mysterious guy; hearing him say his teammate's names grabbed her attention. "Let's see...Cora Duncan, Iris Kenmasuta and Daniel Crane... Oh these pictures look suspiciously like you three. Imagine that!" "Wait, *sniffle*, what?" A ping then hit all of Team ACID's scrolls but Iris didn't reach for hers since she had a feeling what the message would be about. "does this mean you are in our team now?" "Unless you've got twins in this forest...Which I doubt since you're the first centaur I've yet to ever meet." Iris then looked over to Danny and realized the guy had a point, the message the mysterious guy received had to be about Team ACID.

The mysterious guy then showed a little bit of his skills as he spun hie staff around as if it were a spear. At lest Iris saw it as a spear like technique. But what amazed Iris the most was the mysterious guy's mastery of his ice aura, as he pointed his staff towards the sky and shot off an ice spare which exploded into amusing and pretty snow. It was like something out of a fairytale. "I am Johann Isolde, virtually the literal embodiment of snow and ice, at your service." As the snow gently fell like rain Iris' eyes glittered as she stared at the mysterious guy now known as Johann Isolde. Such mastery over the elements was only known to Iris by the skills of her father's royal advisors, so seeing a mere student with such a grasp of elemental knowledge was impressive to Iris. Taking a step towards Team ACID's newest member she planned on greeting Johann with a firm handshake. "Welcome to our team Johann! My name is Iris! I know it's you know my name but it's out of respect that I..." Iris then felt how. "Oh my gosh, you're freezing to the touch! How long have you been out here? Do you need medical attention!?"

Cora heard her scroll beep but she didn't move to pick it up. She was soon to discover for herself what it read as Iris was kind enough to confirm it for them. Cora relaxed and was able to work through her quiet confusion. She was interested, but at the same time, she was eager to move. They still had a fair distance to cover, and the longer they hovered, the easier it would be for a predator to sneak on them, especially if it had wings.

Honestly, Cora still was working on ways to bring a monstrous bird to the ground. She had arrows, a few trap bolts, fire, lightning, and a few others alongside those that were not laced in dust. Maybe some of that would stun the creature enough to bring down....

Now trying to figure out the stranger... no, the new team-mate's subtle affinity for the cold. She watched the spectacle and began to think over how these skills could be of use. It could definitely attract the attention of a Nevermore... might even force it to the ground.

This made Cora feel a lot better. At Iris' concern, she decided to voice a thought. "Some people ingest dust. When it becomes a part of them, they take on those traits. I heard of a girl who did the same thing with fire.... she had a tendency to burn what she touched."

She tilted her head curiously. "Is that why you're cold, Johann?"

Danny was certainly surprised to see this new guy, who was apparently a walking Popsicle, but the ping on his scroll confirmed that he was their new teammate. Well, as long as they still had a full team, they'd be able to fight the Nevermore. Danny would miss Ariana, but life goes on. He smirked at the comment about having a twin. "Trust me, Jack Frost. I'm one of a kind." He joked. The horse boy then looked over to Cora. "That's a possibility, but it could also be his semblance. Semblances are different for everybody. Hell, mine makes my head indestructible for a good few minutes." He said, knocking on his own skull to prove a point.

Cora was right and Iris felt silly for forgetting the fact that some others do infuse themselves with dust. There were a few at court who had such skill, but Iris was just being cautious for Johann. Danny also brought up a good point as Johann might simply be activating his semblance which has an affinity to ice. "If that's the case Johann than I'm sorry for being so quick to worry. I'm sorry if it annoys you but I'm just that kind of person who wants to tend to the sick and rise up the downtrodden." A forewarning of what type of girl Iris was for the cheeky blue eyes Johann. "Now that our team is fully figured out let's head to the waterfall already. I'm dying to bring that Nevermore to the ground and get this test done with."

Humming a song as team ACID explored deeper into the forest, Iris followed her woodland heart and was able to use the river to find the waterfall. "Woooow. That's one large drop!" Iris admired the beauty of the mass waterfall and quickly began scanning for any sight of the chess pieces they must retrieve in order to gain acceptance into Beacon Academy. In fact, Iris was so focused on the search was wasn't keeping an eye for that Grimm that might be lurking around.
