Ooh, cold hard judgement, my favorite. ^_^
Can I help at all?

Hi, I'm new to this guild. sweatdrop If I may put in my two cents, I agree with the cold hard judgement idea. Using the guidelines you'll decide (per roleplay section?) to determine if one's character(s) is(are) well suited for that roleplay area. And I also offer my help for any of this if needed. ^^

Aah, I believe I know who you're talking about. Can't blame you; I'm feeling the same way! XD But I totally agree with you about the Mary Sue Litmus Tests -- people should be scrutinized for any signs of Mary Sue-ness. Quite frankly, I was less than impressed with some of the characters that had been running around in the past, and was a little peeved when it seemed like just about ANY character was blindly accepted, no matter how well-written. XP
This includes some of my own characters as well, but I will discuss that later. Ooh, I am liking that . . . so does that mean if we do have a standard in place, that we could start nitpicking for little things? (Such as not reaching the sentence minimum?) Because honestly, we should start being a bit stricter with the literacy. It doesn't have to be a "two-paragraph minimum" thing, but we should at least attempt to have substantial, consistent posting. Oh, that sounds like fun! Good luck with that! ;D
I remember that in one of the guilds I was in, we had to fill out a little questionnaire alongside with the profile, to make sure that the characters weren't too flat. Do you think we could do a similar thing here?
And to everyone else: Maybe we could have some posts in the OOC that would help the new RPers? Give out pointers, and tips for having a great post, etc. Same with the layouts -- I would have no problem having a free shop to design RP layouts if we truly needed one.

To anybody who wants to help, I say, YES PLEASE! If you want to help, I would be ecstatic to accept any that you can provide. You can suggests guidelines and standards for the profiles and posts here, too.
I guess if so many people want to do the quiz idea, too, then we can come up with a short one. Twenty questions MAX.

I think the layout idea is fantastic, as I cannot, for the life of me, make a decent looking post. To me, all of mine appear-- how do you say?--- Bleh.

Oh, so you don't believe in yourself? Well, my friend, you just need some more confidence! biggrin
But honestly, don't worry too much . . . if you wanna look at my samples, you'll see I have my fair share of bland-looking layouts, too. But for this guild, I'll strive to be the very best I can! :3
((Oh, and this is Sailor's mule account #2, in case no one's figured it out already.))

Oh, that's so cute!
You guys are both forgetting that a good format isn't determined by how much is in it, but how it looks. You can have really full formats that are really ugly, but you can also have really simple ones that are quite pretty. Yours are both really nice!

I miss RPing...
OOC: RPers, what RP universes do you RP in? I like Camp Half Blood the most and Harry Potter, but I could do a Normal World RP and Dagworth Asylumn. I ask mostly because there are 3 more weeks left of my summer and I don't want to go into school without having RPed at least once this summer :( Even if we can't start the guild back up that soon, I'll PM anyone who's interested in a 1x1.

Ideas:
1) A 1x1 subforum. It could backfire if people take characters from existing RP subforums and put them in two places at once or try to switch from one to the other, but I think it's a service that would be appreciated, and it would create an opportunity for people to RP right now while the renovations are still going on.
2) A Chatterbox subforum. Like the OOC, but perhaps more personal (or we could just do this in the OOC.) I'm thinking people could post journals and blogs and have "hi how are you doing today" threads...So, sort of like an active OOC, but one intentionally for clutter.
3) A New Member Zone subforum. Straight to the point: newbie training, rules explained, and RP guides & tips. Not required, but it'd be there if anyone wants to look for some help.

Congrats to sis for being the Captain biggrin And, I like The Sweet Irony's idea, but don't you think that there might be too much of a clutter if you stuff too much into that Chatterbox subforum with people posting blogs and journals?

I personally think the OOC idea is great, although it would all depend on how active the members are. I had honestly forgotten about this guild in the many guilds that i'm currently in, but i'd like to see this one come back to life.
