Kade looked truely excited. "Oh, I can hardly wait!" he exclaimed happily. "This will be great! An adventure at last!" He began skipping down the mountain path, leaving a trail of cheerful aura behind him.

Star looked almost frightened with Kade's large amount of enthusiasm. Cautiously she stepped forward, not wanting to be in the way of Kade's cheerful stride... or skip. She found herself walking next to Mitsuki, and Vincent who was on the other side.

Mitsuki crossed her arms, amused with Star and Kade. She looked to Star and spoke simply, "Get used to it." Then, she walked a little faster while she went forward.

Sami laughed at Kade's excitment. She followed guickly in his wake, running a few steps behind him. "Hey wait up! Don't leave your partner behind!" She called out with a smile.

((I'll skip the mountain walk if it's alright.))

When Kade skipped happily ahead, Vincent smiled to himself.
That will never change. In a way, he was glad to have Kade’s optimism along. He himself, thought it made the task easier.

Alexander followed in Mitsuki’s footsteps.
On our first real task already. This is great! He was thinking to himself, trying to keep his excitement to himself. When Mitsuki increased her pace, Alexander did the same and found himself next to Star and Vincent.
“Hey Vincent, during this task, you think we have to fight some though adversaries?” Most thugs in Licia were mere bandits, who before that were peasants or commoners. But in large numbers those could pose a threat.

Looking briefly at Alexander, Vincent didn’t immediately responded.
“I imagine there will be some.” One of the lessons he learned from his mentor. “There is always a though opponent waiting for everyone.”

A smile appeared on Alexander’s face.
“Good! And when they come, the recruits will deal with them!”

The path had its steep and slippery parts, but the six Knights made it down the foot of the mountain. They only had to cross the forest and reach Samund, where a boat will take them to Cinora.

The long path down the mountain had cost them more time then Vincent thought it would. It would take a few hours to reach Samund even if they had already entered the forest. As it became nightfall, Vincent believed it was safer to camp, then let the recruits walk through the night. They still had a long journey ahead.
“This is far enough. We’ll camp here for the night and continue tomorrow.” The forest wasn’t safe to travel or spend the night, with bandits and beast about, but they had little choice, “We’ll need a fire, some food and water.” The other Knight knew the drill and this was a good first lesson for the recruits.

Mitsuki simply nodded, waiting to see if any of the other recruits would respond before aiding them.

"Of course!" Kade beamed. "I'll lead the hunting party!" he announced. Doing so would be simple. For any river they came across, electrocute the water and kill the fish. ...Or, he could just grab every fish he saw.

Star shrugged. "I can supply the water... I think."

"I'll find some firewood. I could use one other person," Sami said.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 9:38 am

Looking around, Alexander found the forest a little creepy at night. He was glad he wasn’t spending the night alone.
“I’ll help you carry wood, Sami!” He quickly said. If they all were to split up, he would stay with someone and not alone.

Vincent heard the nervous tone in Alexander’s voice.
It must be the first time he spends the night under the stars.
Nodding to the three recruits, he send them on their way.
“We will meet back here.” Now approaching Kade and Mitsuki, he quietly said, “I want you two to gather some food and search the area for any bandits camp. Rumours has it that bandits rule the forests around Samund. I’ll go along with Star and keep an eye out for any wild beast we need to worry about.” Beasts always would go near water to drink and Vincent could see their tracks near the water's edge. Kade and Mitsuki could move fast enough to locate food and scout the surroundings, especially if they divided the task.
Before he left, he turned to Kade and smiled, “Try to find some berries if you can.”
Vincent had always preferred fruit and vegetables above any meat.

When Vincent had send them on their way, Alexander went ahead.
“Come on, Sami! Those sticks won’t carry themselves!” He smiled.

“Star, hang on.” Vincent said as he caught up with her, “I’m coming with you.”

Kade saluted Vincent. "Yes sir!" he chirped. With that, he began to walk off to scout the area and gather some food.

Mitsuki nodded, and followed off after Kade. She kept a close eye out for bandits, while Kade would search for the food. After going far enough, Mitsuki found a small source of light ahead. She shushed Kade and quietly moved in to check it out.

---

Star nodded with a grin. "All right. What do you think is the best choice of water-gathering?" Water was her thing, she could use water-based elements. That was why she chose the task of supplying the water.

Sami laughed as Alexander ran past her. "The one with the most sticks lights the fire then!" she called out after him. She found plenty of sticks near the base of an old pine, along with the dried out needles. "These'll make good kindling," she said as she started to pick them up.

“Well, we search for a nearby river.” This wasn’t hard for Vincent as he could hear the water streaming even if it was a good distance away.
“How would you proceed?” He wanted to see if Star had any experience with outdoor camping.

--- --- ---

Alexander grabbed every stick he found and carried a bunch of them, back to the camp. He never camped outdoors, but figured any stick would do for the fire. As he hastily searched for sticks, he got separated from Sami without realising it.
“I guess these will do.” He said to himself as he could pick up another stick, “Hey, Sami, I guess I win…” His voice became silent as he saw he was alone.
“Sami?” He didn’t want to shout, not wanting to alarm any creatures or anything else.

Sami didn't realize that she had been separated from Alexander. She finished and headed towards the place where Vincent said camp would be. She spotted a light further out and thought, Huh? That can't be ours. She headed over to the light but spotted Mitsuki and Kade. Bandits camp. I'll leave them to those two. She continued back to the camp. Reaching there she placed her findings and looked around. "Alex?"

"You mean, how would I gather it?" Star asked. "If that's the case, I'd gather the water in canteen or jugs or whatever we have. If we don't have that, I can try to control the water while we find something to put it in." She paused. "Was that what you meant?"

---

The bandits were all sitting around a campfire, talking about God knows what. Mitsuki eyed them all and checked around, making sure there was nothing around. Mentally she sighed, seeing as her broadsword was not as capable of surprise as a different weapon. Looking over to Kade, she held out her hand. "Gimme one of your daggers," she murmured. Kade did so. "On the count of three, we attack the five of them. Kill them, try with one blow. Then hide them somewhere so as not to worry anyone else." After waiting for Kade to nod, she counted. "One. Two. Three!"
She jumped out at the five bandits, taking out two of them in one blow to each. With the third, she was unable to catch him by surprise. She tossed Kade back the dagger and pulled out her broadsword, bringing her sword down on the bandit.

Kade, meanwhile, had jumped out and taken two other bandits down. He looked over to Mitsuki as she threw him his other dagger, and waited to see what would happen to the third bandit before he attack again.

When she mentioned she’d control the water, Vincent wanted to see it.
“Yes, let’s first go to the river.” Vincent went ahead. Finding water wouldn’t be hard.
When he arrived he first took a good look at the ground, looking for any footprints. When he found something he turned to Star.
“I forgot to ask the others if they had any flasks or anything to carry the water in. Could you take the water to the camp with Magic?” This way, he’d get a good idea of how well her Magical capabilities are. And while she would return to the camp, he could take a good look at those prints in the grounds.

--- --- ---

Now he was certain, he was lost.
“Great, first task and I get lost on the way there.” Alexander complained to himself. This was a bad start and he hoped the Knight wouldn’t hold this against him.
“Sami would most likely be back at the camp and have lighted the fire. So, I’ll look for a fire!” Feeling smart to have come up with this, Alexander got on a rock and scanned the surroundings for a fire. Not long after, he found one.
“I bet that’s were they are!” Jumping of the rock, he ran towards the fire.

Star nodded. "Yeah! Of course! How much should I take?" Depending on how much water she'd be asked to carry, the task could be easy or hard. Still, even with a large amount of water, Star was confident she could manage.

---

"Bandits... tch, such a pain," Mitsuki mumbled. AFter a bit of struggling from the bandit, she managed to bring him down without herself getting a scratch.

"He must have been the bandit leader!" Kade chirped. "He was good!"

"I'm thinking the same," replied Mitsuki, nodding. "Let's see what we can find around here."

Sami looked around. She was the only one who was at the camp. She knew what Vincent, Star, Mitsuki, and Kade where doing, but Alexander was another story. They where supposed to stay together. She shook her head and started the fire, hoping Alexander would think to look for one.

“Enough to fill about six flask and some extra.” Depending on what they’d eat for the night, they may need the extra water. In the morning they could return here to refresh if any wish it. Now, he was more interested in the footprints.
Crouching near a few, he studied them carefully.
They look like the prints of wolves. Only bigger. Maybe…
Standing back up, Vincent scanned the area with his eyes. He also sought for more prints and not to his surprise, he found some. There were prints of these bigger wolves and of humans.
A battle was fought here. Several wolves and humans. As he walked around, he stepped in some water, which felt icy cold on his feet. Turning around, he found a frozen part of the river.
This river is only frozen during the winter. Unless they came here. Slowly but surely, Vincent began to see what occurred here, but the thought confused him.
“What would the Ice Wolves do here and fight with humans?” He thought out loud to himself.

--- --- ---

Getting closer to the fire, Alexander appeared out the forest without any thought it could be another camp. As he did, he trip over a corpse.
“Hey, who laid this…” Looking at his feet, he saw the dead body of what looked like a bandit, “Whoa!” Seeing it had startled him and he got up as fast as he could and ran away. With looking he ran into someone, this time a living someone.
“This isn’t my day.” He sighed, believing he had run into a bandit, who would soon end his life. Looking up, as he lay on the ground, he saw in was his mentor, Mitsuki, accompanied by Kade.
“Wait what?” Getting to his feet, he realised they had killed the bandits as they would find their camp at night.

--- --- ---

Walking back to Star, he kept an eye out at the surroundings.
“Star, gather the water, we need not linger here.” Ice Wolves were passive creatures, who’d only leave the icy mountains during the winter. The fact that they left the mountains eluded Vincent. It was best they didn’t go near the river. As soon as they got to the camp, he’d inform Kade and Mitsuki. The three will keep watch for Ice Wolves.
