Adam and Amelia

Adam stepped back into the main room of the Looking Glass house. He had went in every room making sure no one was there and there was nothing that looked out of the ordinary. He flung himself on one of the luxurious couches with an arm over his eyes. Adam was going to sleep. His twin and the Oracle could discuss that sword until the sun came up as far as he was concerned.

"I saw plenty of clothes in the the other rooms, we can use those and Mia can dye our hair if need be."

Amelia sat crosslegged on the floor and pulled out the sword. It was still swaddled in blankets. She unwrapped it carefully and looked at it in depth. The hilt looked tarnished and the blade had black marks up and down it. That was the only true sign of its corruption. Amelia could still feel the sharpness of its blade. She closed her eyes and tried to see the magic in her mind's eye. The curse on the Vorpal sword looked like black ooze covered it, as though it was covered in tar. Amelia put both of her hands on the hilt and tentatively pushed some magic into it. It was hard to gain ground, as soon as she pushed some of the curse off, it slide down to cover it back again. She opened her eyes and frowned. She looked at Caterpillar.

"This is going to be much harder than I anticipated."

Amelia looked and saw that Adam was asleep. It was just her and the Caterpillar that she had adored for so long. It was hard to concentrate on the sword when a creeping blush tried to cover her face.

"I like strawberry jam, but my favorite on toast is just peanut butter."

Regular peanut butter or crunchy? she wonders to herself

The Unicorn was more alert now and wondered was else she could ask to learn more about the Queen.

Have you ever been on a swing? Uni asks aloud. The last time she had, she'd discovered one set up in her wood where someone had left it. It's almost like flying! Fortunatly, she didn't have to fake the excitement in her voice. A basic swing was one of the simpiler joys of humanity the unicorn liked.

The Queen of Hearts

Sophia's smile fell from her face when the Unicorn brought up a swing. She saw a sudden flash in her minds eye of a smaller version of herself, with dark curls in a child's frock. Her mother pushing her and Sophia was giggling. She shook the memory out of her head, she didn't want to see what came next. It was too long ago. She smiled immediately and looked down at her hands.

"Not in a long time, not since I was a child."

Sophia had a sweet smile on her face, but internally was growing angry at the memories that now bombarded her. Her mother was smiling until her father's cards had taken her. Sophia had to watch her own mother's beheading. She shook her head and used her magic push the memories away. Sophia snapped her head up and smiled again.

"One of my few times I had fun as a child. Growing up as royal sounds fun, but there's a bit of pain as well."

(((OCC: Dang the Unicorn is making the Queen of Hearts reveal why she's so crazy. lol. I almost feel bad for her now that i've come up with her backstory, her past is pretty effed up.)))

(almost but also gives greater depth to both if you think about it)

The Unicorn nods as if sympathetic to what the Queen was saying but actually only recognized two words:fun and pain.
Still she did want to stay on her royalness' good side.

What else was fun?

Seeing as the Queen enjoyed strawberries, perhaps there was a good memory connected to them as well.
Did you like to chase butterflies while collecting berries?

Azure Caterpillar

PostPosted: Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:32 pm

Caterpillar glanced at the sword; despite his power he had no way of untainting it himself. He sat across from Amelia while staring at the blade; he saw glimpses of its past for a moment but nothing that told him how Amelia must untaint it. He looked at her and frowned; noticing the blush.

"Try and draw energy from the Looking-Glass to strengthen your own power," Caterpillar suggested and looked away wondering still if they could trust the Jabberwock. "I don't know exacitically how you're supposed to untaint it... but I do know you have the ability," He added turning to look at her again.

Mallymkun Dormouse

Mally stared into the distance to see if any form of life was near. For now all she saw were the hoves of horses that pulled the carriage thomp against the hard dirt that covered the ground. A few pebbles every now and again would jostle the carriage, bumping and awaking Mally from her nap. The carriage also passed a few talking flowers. Their giggles and words directed at them worried Mally, hopefully they wouldn't give away her and Katty's position.

It wasn't too long until she spotted something huge and immaculate in the distance. The Queen's large castle. It was very huge to Mally given not only her size but the scale of it. It towered even the tallest tree in the Wonderland forest. The castle was guarded by an equally as large gate lines with cards. She nudged Katty to stay low as they passed the entrance and entered the courtyard and garden. Mally was so in shock that she nearly fainted.

"Katty, look!"

Sorry, wanted to move it along. ^.^

Katty glanced up from her growling stomach and her jaw dropped. "Oh mah goodness." She whispered as they neared the hoard of cards. "I sure hope they as as stupid as da ones in dat house dat Amelia got rid of." She frowned at the mention of her friends name.

((THANK you.))

The Queen of Hearts

Sophia didn't want to answer any more questions. It reminded her of a time, when her happiness depended on the temperment of her father. When she could be thrown into a dungeon for spilling her cup or for giggling at the wrong part of a play. She wanted to the Unicorn to connect with her, but she didn't like remembering the pain. Sophia sighed in relief as they neared the castle. She quickly changed the subject.

"Ah! We approach my castle. I will make sure you have a lovely room near mine so we can continue this conversation over tea."

Adam and Amelia

Amelia nodded, thankful for the Caterpillar's encouragement. She rearranged the sword carefully in her lap then began working. Amelia knew that it was going to take a while. She worked her magic and felt the strain, but was able to get at least the handle restored, but one could still see the aftereffects of having such evil in it for so long. She looked at the Caterpillar and had an idea.

"Where do you think is the strongest magic in this house? Maybe I could draw from it."

The Unicorn let herself look pitiful and rejected as the Queen had to prepare for thier arrival. Once inside the castle, it'd be more difficult for her heroic rescuers - still there had been stories about brave mice before...
Tea might be a good idea, perhaps later when we've both rested? The journey has not been easy until recently -
Her smile suggests she apprechiated the "kindness" of the Queen but yet the Unicorn was still on edge.
If she didn't get out - and soon - refusing any food or drink at tea might rouse the Queen's suspicion!

At least as a Unicorn she could be forgiven some lapse in "manners".

For the time being she had to think how to help herself and the little stowaways. And if that meant appearing to be *broken* - so be it.

The Queen of Hearts

Sophia smiled graciously. She was glad that the Unicorn seemed to have taken a liking to her and was appreciative, but she couldn't get the nagging memories out of her head now. She hated remembering her father and the time when she was just the Princess of Hearts. Sophia allowed herself to be handed down from the Carriage and watched as they let the Unicorn down. The shackles on her feet were long enough that she could walk, so Sophia would not allow them to be removed until she was inside the castle with the gates closed. She waved the carriage away, allowing it to be taken to the stables around the back.

"Come, let us get you to your room so I can take off those nasty chains."

They walked into the main hall and Sophia took the Unicorn's hand and wrapped it around the crook of her elbow, as though they were dear friends or sisters. She gestured to the wide halls and windows.

"This is your home now, my dear. I hope that you will come to adore it as much as I. I hope we shall become as sisters. I am quite alone in this castle without any I wish to call equals."

Sophia was actually telling the truth with this statement and it bothered her slightly, lies felt more natural on her tongue. She smiled as they entered a grand guest chamber. The only one bigger was hers. Sophia led the blond girl to the vanity and removed the shackles herself. She smiled over the Unicorn's shoulder in the mirror. She picked up a brush and ran it through her dark hair and then through the Unicorn's.

"I envy your light hair. It is lovely. You will be overwhelmed with suitors. I leave you now. I apologize, but the door will be locked for now as well as the windows. If you need anything, just summon any of the handmaids. I will see you at teatime!"

With that Sophia set the brush down and walked out the door. The lock was reinforced with strong magic, it would be impossible to break. She would lift the enchanment after the Unicorn swears fealty to her and the Kingdom of Hearts. Until then she would be sure to keep the room guarded.

The Unicorn looked at herself in the mirror.
What would I need with a suit-or? I have one outfit and it *suits* me fine - perhaps she means to outfit me in clothes, like a doll?
Meanwhile she had to think of an escape, as the windows and doors were locked. The fireplace!
But that was a risky climb and she knew it - if she were to escape it would have to be later that night when anything stoked would have died down but not too late - or early morning routines would need to be considered.
Speaking of consideration...

(sorry about the use of blue everyone - the italics aren't working for lines from the Unicorn)

"Looks like this is our stop." Commented Katty, seeing as the carriages were to be taken to the stables, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to continue riding them. "Come on, Mally! Let's go save us a Lolli." She jumped off with the natural given skill that all cats are born with, then glanced back at her mousy companion.

Mallymkun Dormouse

Mally quickly snatched on to Katty's long fluffy tail holding on for dear life. She helplessly watched from behind as the queen led Uni into the castle. She attempted to climb her way up the moving kitten but nearly failed as she grabbed onto a few stay hairs to avoid falling onto the palace floor as Katty sneaked her way past the guards.

Only a few moments later they had arrived in the room where Mally and Katty watched the Queen speak to Uni. Mally stumbled off of her back as they hid behind a nearby dresser. She held her head as she collapsed into the floor. She was extremely tired, and waiting for morning to come before approaching Uni and blowing their cover was looking better and better. Quietly in her squeaky mouse voice, she began to hum the tune to the flower music box she had found when the group first entered the looking glass house.

She solemnly began to remember the group, the meer hours they had been separated from the group had felt like days. She already missed her dear friends under the desolate mood of the Queen's castle.

After the Queen had gone, The Unicorn snaps from her self pity long enough to hear the sweet tender tones of the dormouse. Her ears had responded much like they had in her eternal spring forest and carefully she picks up the exhausted darling.
Oh Mally...she pretends to scold, running hand over her nose and back in a type of backrub. Whatever am I to do with you?
She had some idea of how to rescue them all since teatime was fast approaching and she didn't want to endanger her friends by rousing suspicion but knew she had to let them rest - even if just for a moment.
