"Well...I suppose this is something you'll find out but I can't read...so..." Kyo kind of trailed off, basically admitting the menu was useless to him. He shifted in his seat a bit, leaning his arms on the table.

She smiles at him. "That's not uncommon. I know a lot of the people in the village where I came from could not read. We weren't in the main stream so it didn't seem a huge concern. I only learned to read after I was sold to the geisha house."

"It just never came up in my line of work. Wielding a spear is more important than a pen." Kyo returned the smile. It was certainly a different type of conversation with a woman. The crew was all men and whenever they did come across a woman, it never ended well.

"I can understand that. Everyone one of us has our skills and uses. So what do you do?"

Kyo waited until after the waitress had given their order before replying. "Odd jobs, here and there...spend a lot of time on at sea..."

"That sounds like a great adventure, being at sea. I've only walked the beach."

"For the past 10 years, I've only seen the beach from the water...it feels nice to be grounded for the time being."

Kyo nodded and picked up his chopsticks with his left hand. "Didn't really have anywhere else at the time but I won't complain. I'm alive." He proceeded to use his left hand as he picked up the sushi.

"Yes. My right arm has never been as strong. Slow recovery, I suppose." Kyo started eating, pretty refined for a pirate. Not that Mika knew that just yet. "When I was younger, I was on a ship to China. It capsized and though I had submitted myself to death at sea. I was plucked from the teeth of our friend here..." As he spoke, he picked up a piece of shark sushi.

"I like to say fortunate..." Kyo ate the sushi and leaned his chin against his right hand, moving through the rest of the pieces.

"Yes fortune." She goes through her pieces. When she's done she takes out a small bag and leaves a good amount of coins on the table.

Kyo went to put some coins down as well. "How much is it...?" Looking at what she put down, he figured that was her half.
