A wavering, empty smile of sadness was Destiny's answer. How could she be okay? When this girl was remind her so much of Lyza, when Nici bathed in blood and tore her into pieces? When the voice... her own voice said she was nothing... less, as it were...

Could she abandon the girl? She stopped in her tracks to glare at the male. "Would you ever hurt this girl or let her be hurt?" she interrogated angrily.

Nici blinked for a moment, then turned red. "I... of course I..." He couldn't answer. If that was what it took... if Destiny being hurt was what he took to bring the Meacuu to it's goal... could he...?
Destiny bit back a cry. "Can't we let her go?" she whispered, not wanting to break down in front of the nice girl. Lyza wouldn't have left but Lyza wasn't here... and this girl, despite the similarities, would never be her Immortal friend.
"No," Nici snapped, quick to get out of answering the question already asked and drawing his sword again, handling both it and the girl's sword as though they were weightless.

"Bloody Meracuu," Ka-La muttered, watching as the raid was finished up. Another village, done away with without purpose. Where would they stop?
She narrowed her eyes; that girl, the useless one, was with them again. Why? Why did they always bring her along? Ka-La had yet to see her do anything.

She turned her back to Nici. How could he even consider pausing? How could he consider letting this poor child-woman be injured? She took Destiny's hand soothingly. "It's ok, I don't mind," she said gently.

Destiny wrapped her arms around the lady's shoulders, needing comfort. To feel as human as the humans beside her... "Thank you," she said, not looking at Nici as he tried to use his eyes to catch hers. Drawing back she took the girl's hand in her own and walked quietly back to the others. Nici wouldn't stop her, and the men wouldn't question him so long as it looked all right.
