"Thank ye," Keldan said, and, whistling a sea shanty, got to work.
[insert boring kitchen work here]

Ithil eyed the newcomers. One of them seemed a suspicious character, a maid in a hood. She shrugged, finishing off the tune. Taking a deep breath, she decided on some music she learned abroad. There was this one Elvish composer, Vivaldi, was his name?* She had learned the Four Seasons written by this excellent composer. Ithil decided to start off with the first movement: Spring.
*Come on, I needed something!

Chokin, interested in this new theme in the music, stopped to listen and understand the meaning it conveyed. All music had some meaning, some more important than others, but they were interesting none the less. This one sounded like it was telling of some form of rebirth, perhaps spring, which is the great rebirth of the world after the cold death brought by winter. Or, could it be about the passing of the evils threatening the world?
She sighed and looked around the tavern. Her eyes rested on one soul that was eating a piece of food that was from a meal yet to be given to it's orderer. The elf looked away.

Keldan came out of the kitchen. "Alright, who stole my potato?"
She looked around and spotted the culprit. She marched up to the apparently drunk Elf (she was holding a large bottle and wearing a grass skirt, which was a rather silly thing to wear in this part of the world) and stared down at her a few seconds beyond the comfort barrier. Then she said, "That's my potato. And while I don't really want it now that you've drooled all over it, I'd appreciate you not stealing supplies from the kitchen anymore. It's just not kosher." She nodded once, sharply, and returned to the kitchen, calling out, "And that goes for everyone!" behind her.

Finally noticing all the commotion, Estelyn approached the drunkard. "Look here," she began, trying to sound very professional, "if you're going to steal potatoes from my employees, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." Este plastered a stern glance on her face and cleared her throat. "Now, are you going to pay for, er, Roney, or what?"

Estelyn swatted at the hobbit's finger. "No!" she exclaimed. "No poking!" Trying to maintain calm, she took a deep breath and glanced reproachfully at the drunk-and-disorderly.
"Did you hear me?" she said with exaggerated pace and volume, apparently trying to compensate for the customer's intoxication. "You need to pay for the po-ta-to."

The violin was immediately placed down upon the hearing of the magic word. "Po-ta-TOE?" she asked, hurrying over to the source of the word. "I want taters too! How much?" The Rohir reached into her pocket for coins to pay Estelyn, as she demanded payment for the privelage of the sacred tuber root.

Estelyn stared quizzically at the carrots in her outstretched palm, then at the violinist. "Well, actually," she began, then sighed, seeing the dancing Hobbit. "Sure. I'll talk to the chef and see if she doesn't have another potato lying around." She accepted the coins and pocketed the carrots with a last prod at the dancing Hobbit, "You wouldn't happen to have any money on you, eh?"
