I watched a Movie Called Okuribito ... I think it's one of the Best movies in cinema History!

I've heard of that I think... what type of movie is it? Comedy? Drama?

It's a drama and story is about a cellist who lose his job so he went back to his village and began to work in a Funeral center... Movie has Perfect scenes showing how Japaneses Prepare the dead people for death ...

aa! I watched that! (Actually, it was my very first Japanese movie, I think.)
I thought it had SOME comedy in it. . . but it won several awards~
Surprisingly, I really liked it. . . and ended up watching it twice~ ^o^
wasn't the english title called "departures" ?

I love Japanese horror movies. Even tho they seem to all be the same.

Best movie so far I seen is Dear Friend. Seriously this show had me in tears.

I have only watched "Ringu" in Japanese horror movies and "Tale of two sisters" in Korean.... Honestly I have to say they were amazing they were not like Resident Evil or Saw which make you vomit up...they had deep stories and were also so horrifying!(I am not a horror movie person, other than those twoI have only watched 3-4 horrors)....

Japanese horror movies are surprisingly good (I'm not a horror movie person). I like how they try to use horror as a way of making a social commentary on Japanese society in general. My favorite J-horror movies are One Missed Call, and Pulse (Kairo).

What's Dear Friend about?

I'm into splice-of-life and romance movies. Three of my favourite movies to date are Sukida, Shodo Girls: Blue Blue Sky (this movie has compelled me in wanting to learn shodo), and Hanamizuki. I also enjoy movies by Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, and Makoto Shinkai. :3 Oh, and I can't forget about the heartwrenching yet sweet short 10 min. film All About My Dog: Marimo starring Aoi Miyazaki.

Wow, All About My Dog: Marimo was really sweet. I hadn't seen it before.

One movie I recently found is "Surley someday" It's kind of a goofy one and reminds me a little bit of the pulp fiction kind of humor, but a lot better.

ハナミズキ

My new favorite movie...♥ It was pure love.

What's it about?

A very simple love story, based in Hokkaido/Tokyo/New York/ and briefly somewhere in Canada.
It's so difficult to explain the plot... but I guess it's a "I will always love you" type of romance.
That, or, a love story between a girl with a very bright future - and - a poor aspiring fisherman.
I cried, laughed, and fell in love... even if I hated the lead actors before watching "ハナミズキ"...
I only watched it because I have an interest in moving to Hokkaido, but it made me have an interest in living LIFE. ♥
Definitely watch it!! ♥ (I actually think the theme song is the most popular karaoke song in Japan...still?)

Plot: http://asianwiki.com/Hanamizuki_-May_your_love_bloom_a_hundred_years-
Watch it online for free!: http://www.mysoju.com/
I watched it ^here until someone got me the DVD as a gift. ♥

Hmm, I usually don't like romances (though romance sub-plots can be OK)
but I think I'll check this one out.^^

Oh yeah, recently I watched a movie called 奇跡, because I liked the director's other movie, 歩いても歩いても, but 奇跡 wasn't as good, though it wasn't bad per se, it was good, just not great.

(Wasn't TOO romantic, since they were separated 2/3s of the movie...) >_<

Oh I've heard of 歩いても歩いても! I decided not to watch though because the plot was depressing!
Right now I'm watching "Rich Man, Poor Woman" with Oguri Shun. (Working Drama?)
I haven't seen a new Japanese movie in ages!!

It is depressing, but the acting is so natural, it's almost like they aren't acting. surprised Oh, and it's not a movie, but I did see a really interesting documentary called The Great Happiness Space: Tale of an Osaka Love Thief, about host clubs, and it was surprisingly good! The filmer isn't Japanese, but the whole documentary is in Japanese, and I didn't expect it to raise deep questions about identity and conpanionship.
