"You're making it worse.." Kira groaned, but brought her head up to look him in the face regardless. Her scarlet-amber eyes were pained while she looked into his, and she let out a sigh, shook her head again, and turned away.
"I don't...I...don't want to trust, but..." Why was this so hard? What exactly was bad about the way she was feeling? She was having fun, and she had to go and ruin it. "But I do. I don't want to open up, and I can't stand that my walls are now destroyed." She confessed, her voice growing louder when she expressed the anger, as she had been doing it for so long. "Though....I'm so confused." She brought her face back up, eyes shining, and this time, she didn't look away. Her shoulders were hunched defensively.

"Is that how you really feel?" He could not help but to grin as he nudged her a little. "We both may have our own reasons for not trusting this feeling that is dwelling within, but we can at least give it a chance." It was odd for Zafar to even say anything like this, let alone to the opposite sex. But he actually liked this one, sure she has her guard up all the time. He actually liked seeing a female with an attitude, if that was what one would call it, all the others were...well...bubbly and always wanted to agree with things never taking the time to think things through.
He cleared his throat a little, to be frank, he was nervous to be even near her. Blinking his gray eyes, he took in a breath and turned those gray eyes towards Kira. "Sometimes...it's alright to be scared," he whispered, trying to keep his cool.

"It's just frustrating." She concluded when confronted with the question of how she really feels. And it was. It wasn't that she didn't want to admit these feelings - but her defensive nature, her bitterness - those had been standing too long for them to be overcome with what she regarded as a false hope. But at the same time, she'd never shown this side of her to a male before. And no other male offered to comfort her before, either. Maybe, just maybe, this one really was different. She leaned into his touch when he nudged her, somehow comforted by it.
No. No it's not, only pups get scared, and I am no pup. Something in her mind retorted, before her thought process broke and she let out a breathy whimper. "I'm tired of being scared, though. Ever since I was a teen, every time," which turned out to only be two times, "I started to care, I was abused. Dumped. Abandoned. Used. Manipulated - " The list would have went on and on, if Kira's voice hadn't cracked, and gotten her to shut up. She hadn't meant for her thoughts to be said aloud...

Zafar was rather speechless. She was treated just like his mother, well all except for the abused part, why would the other males do that to her? A small growl escaped him, it was something that he could not stop. He was not angry at Kira, oh no, he was angry at what the others did to her. He only had met her today, and yet he was already feeling protective of her.
With a small sigh, he placed his head on top of Kira's and closed his eyes for a few seconds. "I bet that it is frustrating, and I don't blame you for keeping to yourself. You have a right, and the other males should never have done anything to you." He remembered the times with his mother, and he never wanted to be like those who hurt females out of sheer pleasure. It was one of the many reasons why he refused to become anything more than just friends.
But looking at Kira, Zafar felt that he was going back on his own vows. He did not want to, but there was just something about this female that he liked, not only was it her ruff edges, but something else, something that only she seemed to posses and he liked it.

A growl drew her attention out of the foggy past, and out of her self pity. She wasn't afraid of his anger, however, like she would have been otherwise. Nor did she respond to it with hostility. In response she merely bumped him under the chin with the top of her head in a comforting gesture. Of course, it wasn't okay that all that happened. But he had no reason to be mad about it.
When her embrace was returned, she stayed very still; almost afraid that the slightest movement on her part would make him stop. He understood, and that meant a lot. Even Esther hadn't understood - though, then again, she was just a pup when Kira had been forced to take her in. She hadn't expected Esther to understand. She didn't want to be hurt again, though she would give Zafar a chance. He had, after all, said that she had a right to be the way she was. In doing so, he accepted her. And that meant a lot.
Glancing up, she caught him staring and a smile pulled at her maw. Nuzzling him once, she backed away and grinned, tipping her head, "So...swimming?"

A small chuckle escaped the male as he too grinned back at the female. "Aah yes, swimming." He nodded his head as he stood once more. "I think that," he died down, lost in train of thoughtfulness. Shaking his black head, he nudged her a little and smiled. "Shall we?"
His ears twitched as he yawned a little, and began to walking towards the watering hole.

So the mood had lightened, and Kira was not, not allowing herself to ruin it again. So she liked Zafar. Okay. Let's see where things took them. Secretly, the wolf was excited about the whole thing. Kira nodded in response, "We shall."
Striding up next to him, she bumped playfully into him every few seconds, until the watering hole finally came into view. Exchanging a glance with him, she raced him to the waters' edge, and plunged in.

Zafar laughed as he watched Kira plunge into the water. Oh how he loves hanging with her, normally the females that he hangs with tend to test the water before plunging into it. A grin spread upon his maw as he skipped hopped (that's right skipped hopped) after her. Grey eyes closed slightly as he entered the water laughing.

Making a twist, Kira turned around in the water only to see Zafar following her in a rather flashy movement. He looked so silly, that she just couldn't help breaking out with laughter, as she paddled over to him to splash his face with her tail, a smile settling on her jowls.

The male stopped, as he felt the cool water splash upon his face. Blinking rapidly, he tried to figure out on what had just happened. One minute he was acting goofy, the next he was splashed in the face with water. Tilting his head to the side, Zafar could not help but to grin as he tackled the female. It was a playful tackle, though the minute he had done so, he quickly stood up. His face was becoming warm, and he felt the need to nuzzle the female. What's wrong with him?
Shaking his head rather quickly, he was trying to clear the thoughts. Being done with that, he quickly splashed Kira back. A cocky grin surfaced, as well as a chuckle of suppressed laughter.

All of the sudden, Zafar crashed into her and sent her sprawling under the water, her entire body getting completely soaked. Tumbling and fighting to put her feet beneath her again, she fruitlessly shook the water from her fur. Glancing curiously at him with such a sudden change-of-heart at tackling her, Kira plastered a true smile on her lips, padded confidently over to him, and licked his muzzle, tail swaying in slow-motion in the shallows.
And the cocky grin was enough to sink the hook into Kira, where she swiftly turned, in a game of chase, let her tail brush against his muzzle, and floundered around the water in an attempt to run, giving him a short bark to initiate the game.

Eyes wide for a moment, it took a while for Zafar's brain to register what had just happend. A small laugh escaped the male, as he soon barked back at the female. A goofy grin appeared, as he started to splash about, though this was his first time actually playing within the water itself, it did not stop the male from trying to catch up with the female infront of him. Actually putting his past and fear behind, he started for Kira, trying to tag her back.

The water dragged at her limbs, and eventually she gave way to paddling spasmodically in the water, growing further and further from the bank - and Zafar. Had she started a game? What was wrong with her? Letting go of her anger and instead pawing at the hope for a better future, Kira's insides tickled at the prospect of Zafar being in it. Eventually, she slowed and looked back at him; too tired to keep running away.
Her chest heaved up and down in time with her exhausted huffs, and as she looked back, she pulled her lips up in a wide grin. Then it slipped from her face, a thoughtful expression replacing it, and she waited patiently for him to catch up.

He was having fun, actually having fun! Sure he enjoyed playing around with the other males. But this, this beautiful female in front of him, he could not help but to smile. He was standing at the bank, watching her swim. If he mother had seen him, she would be proud. She always hounded at him for being alone, and it always went in one ear and out the other.
With a grin of his own, he could not help but to day dream at the thought of Kira and he together. Starting a family, shaking his head, the black furred male started to make his way towards the female.
He was attracted to her, without a doubt. It was her feisty personality that had him attracted to her. Why she was like that, he had no clue, but he liked it. If she wanted to tell him why she was like that, he would let her with opened ears. She wasn't like the other females that tried to get his attention, and for that, he was rather grateful.

Suddenly, and sloppily, Kira sprang from the water and thudded into Zafar with intent. Growling playfully, she nipped at his ear and attempted to pin him. Feeling the soft, firm muscles underneath her pawpads gave Kira a rush, and she was determined to show him that she wasn't fragile - even if this wrestling match was all play.
Moving to mouth his forelegs and muzzle, a wide grin was in place on her open maw. She was comfortable enough - trusting enough - with him to attack him without fear. A breif flash of hope put a sparkle in her eyes, and she, too, began to daydream of the future..
