"You know about it, don't you?" Hiei questioned, quietly, withdrawn.

He allowed the other to comfort him, it'd been so long since he'd been held like this.... So long since someone actually cared that he hurt.... He felt ashamed of how selfish he'd been when they'd left. It was probably too late now, to save the other humans.... They were probably enslaved or worse.... Eaten. He shivered at this thought, how many times had he been threatened with the same method of death? It wasn't a quick one either and painful. Being eaten while you're still alive, awake and aware of what was happening... And being unable to stop it.

"How could I not notice?" he asked, making it seem that it was obvious that he knew. The fox had found out a while ago, and he thought he had actually been rather slow of noticing. The slight shiver did not go unnoticed, but the red-head wasn't going to ask about it. Whatever it was about, speaking of it would make it worse for Hiei. So he would avoid saying or asking anything about what had happened, even if it meant a somewhat boring conversation.

"I guess that is something that would be sort of obvious." Hiei commented, truthfully. "How long has it been since I left? I lost count of the days..." Hiei questioned.

"Most likely a few months," the fox replied lamely. He wasn't sure how long it had been, really. There had been a period of six months that he had been gone, but it took a few for him to even worry. Hiei had never been one to visit often. The kitsune didn't think he would have been taken right after he had seen him last, so this estimate was the best one he could come to. Had the boy known when he had been taken, he would have been there so much sooner. The other wouldn't have even been broken like this, had that been the case.

Hiei looked at Kurama, surprised. "Was it really that short an amount of time that passed?" Hiei questioned, sounding somewhat surprised. "It felt like years...."

"That's what I estimate," the fox replied simply, not feeling like going into any detail or explaining why he didn't know. This subject was one he wanted to get off of for Hiei's sake, but he'd settle for any conversation he could get with him. It'd help to return him to normal. He had made progress- the other was now sounding a slight bit more confident and didn't apologize for every little thing.

Hiei didn't bother to move, but his stomach growled, indicating his prolonged hunger. How long had it been since he'd been given anything other than dry bread to eat? He didn't mention anything about his hunger, nor thirst to Kurama. He tried to not think on it, just as he always had in that cell.

Hearing the other's stomach growl, the fox instantly took a rather small bag containing food from his pocket. It wasn't enough for two, but it'd be a feast for Hiei, considering the way he had been fed. The red-head, too, was hungry, but he wasn't going to eat. The other boy was too important for him to do that. This had been saved specifically for Hiei, and he had promised himself that he wouldn't touch it. "Have this," he said, handing it to him. "It's not much, but I hope you'll like it."

Hiei blinked when he was handed the bag... He looked at Kurama almost as though he couldn't believe that the other had just given it to him. It smelled good... Hiei knew that. Before he'd realized what he was doing, he had backed away from Kurama and was eating as much as he could. He was crouched, with the food hidden from view. He was like a starved dog.... Trying to eat as much as he could. He could only eat a small amount of the bag's contents before he felt full for the first time in ever. (Stomachs shrink in size if someone's been given little or no food in a long time.)

The kitsune couldn't help but to let a smirk come to his lips as he watched Hiei eat that way. It hadn't been too much, but obviously he had appreciated it. Of course, anyone would be grateful for such food after they hadn't eaten decently for months. "So you liked it?" the fox asked, amusement still showing on his face. Kurama knew that he had, but morely just wanted to see what his response would be like.

Hiei realized suddenly how he'd been acting in front of the other, he could feel his face burning with a blush as he quickly nodded. He felt embarrassed completely.

Kurama couldn't help but to notice how cute the other looked when he was embarrassed. Him blushing wasn't something the fox had even dared to imagine before. "You're acting adorable; you know that?" the kitsune asked, trying his luck. Hiei wouldn't be angry at him for saying something like that, hopefully. It was safe enough to do that, seeing as how he didn't have a sword on him.

"I- I am?" Hiei questioned, suddenly feeling as though his whole face were on fire.

He didn't know what to say, he kept opening his mouth as if he should say something but he couldn't think of a damn thing. He finally settled on remaining quiet with his face blazing red.

The fox nodded as a response to the question, then simply asked, "Why would I lie about something like that?" Kurama found all of his blushing extremely cute, though he wouldn't say that. Telling him that he was adorable had been rather daring. This 'new' Hiei seemed so innocent and young. It was change, but he wasn't sure he disliked it.

"I- I guess you- wouldn't..." Hiei managed to respond.

He was blushing and his heart was racing. What was this? This feeling that was overwhelming him? He couldn't figure it out, it wasn't pain nor fear, but it made him feel very warm and happy... Was he smiling? It was small, but it was there....
