Violent Intervention I went to pull the engine today to open it up and asses the damage. and it ******** snowed. 3" of really cold wet s**t. The forcast said it'd be sunny. assess, not asses (more than one male donkey or more than one a**).

Not a spun bearing, but I need to rebuild the bottom end. And I don't want to spend that much money on a 6-cyl.
So now I try to find a V-8 or another I-6 for cheap.

Yes, I'm looking for a V-8 (302, preferrably) now, depending on cost.
Anyone know if a 302 will get mileage about the same as a 300? Granted I don't keep my foot into it all the time. sweatdrop

It's not just bearings. I have to get the crank turned because it's got some wicked a** scoring on it, and that means oversized bearings yaddayadda.
And I think it's piston slap now, because I can't find and spun bearings which would cause a knocking sound. >.> So I'll pull the pistons out tomorrow and take a look.
And if all else fails, I'll go rebuild the whole ******** anyway. But I'm broke, like, $300 total funds broke. I can't afford to rebuild the engine completely, and I need my truck back soon. Getting to work in -5*C weather on my bike sucks.

Number Three piston had a spun bearing on the rod, which I didn't see when I took the bottom end apart the first time. >.> The knocking is solved.
But the camshaft gear is missing three teeth. Can someone explain how the ******** camshaft gears are broken, and if I need to replace the whole camshaft.

I might be getting a 302 for my truck, seeing as the 6 will cost about $400 at this point. stare
At least I'll have a real V-8 for a while. Until that blows up in my face and I have to put my 300 back together to run it.
