"We have some on our tail. Don't worry, I got em, sir." Jason said as he aimed his rather shaky M6C Pistol. "This shouldn't be too hard." Jason aimed with the movement of the Spartan at the Jackal. Jason pulled the trigger and the bullet buried itself straight into the Jackal's skull. He then aimed for the other Jackal and fired, but missed. "Damn." he whispered. He then said. "Plasma bolt, coming from your back left."

Shaking off his pain, Mendez tried to right himself, only to find his arm pinned underneath the same plasma scarred, concrete block he hid behind only a moment ago. Rolling over on top of it, he pushed against a nearby wall and hoped that the concrete would tip. Thankfully, it did. and only just in time. Just as Mendez ducked behind cover, a carbine's spent bolt grazed the back of his armor. "Damnit!" Yanking a grenade from his belt, he pulled the pin and hurled it over the edge. With the dull thud, Mendez sprinted from his concrete block, being evaporated by the constant bolts, to another, larger chunk.

Spartan 103 had finally reached an area crawling with Covenant. His mission was to hurt the Covenant's combat effectiveness at all costs, so he had opened fire with a grenade and an entire clip for the MA6K-MPA. He continued moving around them, firing from the shadows, confusing them and herding them into a tighter formation, once they were there he let two grenades fly and watched the resulting explosion. The first things to really go were the methane tanks rigged to the backs of the grunts. Thankfully the UNSCDF armory had always kept explosive weapons and explosive rounds. They came in real handy in times like this. After the stinking cloud settled, he moved on, searching for more Covenant to kill.
[In the Jungle]
Major Lipton picked himself up and coughed. "Masochistic ******** my a**," he grunted," I have a general dislike of pain. I was laughing at myself because I just jumped out of a burning drop ship with a new lung, seven bruised ribs and two broken ones. I think I just set a record for Commissioned stupidity." He was wearing fatigues and a flak vest, but no actual rigid body armor. The only reason he was even wearing field clothing is that he pulled rank on the medical officers. His reasons being that if he was going through a combat zone, he at least wanted combat gear to be ready. Grudgingly the medical officer had agreed, though for some reason he hadn't agreed to rigid gear, which in Lipton's personal opinion would have held him together even better. His ribs were healing up quickly due to some medical magic, and the torso cast under his fatigues. At least they had replaced his collapsed lung on the ship. He walked over to a break in the tree cover and gazed off toward the city. He could easily find it because of the space elevator. It would be easy enough to get there, but it would take a while. Moving through one mile of jungle was like moving through four miles anywhere else. That was when he noticed the large Covenant Assault Carrier hovering over New Mombasa. The carrier was easily ten times the size of a Marathon-class ship. The largest in the Human navy. The Covenant really wanted this city. But why? "As much as it kills me to say it, I think we're better off out here."

UNSC Territory : New Mombasa 0900 Hours/Drop Zone Beta-Alpha-Gamma-November Date log: September 23rd, 2552 ________________________________________
The Pelican dropship rumbled as it slowly desented towards the empty town square. Through the back port, 1st Lieutenant Winters could see scorch marks litter the buildings and pavement.
With a sudden jolt, the Pelican began to fall straight down with a controled thrust shaking through the ship.
At the corner of his perifrial vision, The Lieutenant could see the Red Light at the corner of the door signaling the 6 members of Alpha Squad to arm weapons and realive the restraints.
Winters stood at the doorway, gripping the rail to the side of the open port. His knees bucking under the pressure of the landing.
And with the stop of the ship, the green light flashed, and 8 pairs of boots rushed out of the ship onto the battlefield that was to be their doom.
Winters' mission was simple, land, rush, and set up a defencive line around the abandoned Temp HQ that was located at their current LZ. The whole 1st Platoon would land in the main square, seting up any defences they could muster around the square, Segments of the 2nd and 3rd Platoon's would be scattered down the roadways that led, so they could set up a defence within the buildings. This mission was abruptly named: OPERATION PEGASUS.
Lieutenant Winters examined the 5 other Pelicans that unloaded the rest of his Marines into the square. They scrambled with their CO's orders to use the reckage around them to make their defencive line.
"Christanson," He said, pulling his glove off, "... Map." The Corperal Nodded and rushed over to him. "Yessir."
Christanson retrived a Datapad from his Upper vest pocket and handed it to the Lieutenant. For a moment, the Lieutenant just staired at it, and then handed it back.
"Make sure Segmand gets this, that way we can upload it on TAC and SATCOM." The Lieutenant said, fixing his rifle. The Corperal nodded and rushed off.
Winters' opened a COM link throughout the Batallion.
"901st Batallion, this is Lieutenant Winters. Lets get things ready to go now. All CO's and NCO's have a makeshift parimater made by 1000 hours. I need this place ready for HQ deployment. Winters out."

UNSC Territory : New Mombasa 0913 Hours/Drop Zone Beta-Alpha-Gamma-November Date log: September 23rd, 2552________________________________________ "Do you have the COM estabished?" Winters asked Tech Sergeant Will Hummel. Hummel looked up from the counsel. "Yessir, I can make active transmitions, I just cant contact OO. (Out of Orbit.)" Winters nodded. "Ok, open an active encryption channel on B-Band. Patch me through." "Roger that." The data from his Datapad shot through the computer, and transported its way into the COM set of every UNSC Personel within a 5 mile radius. "Attention all UNSC personel, this is Lieutenant Winters of the 901st Division. I am trasmitting our position and plans. All CO's Carry out orders as followed.

All CO's, Breifing at 1200 Hours. Winters out."

"I'd rather get shot than..." Antares reconsidered what he was saying. He hated heat, and he forgot for a split second the covenant used 'super heat', as some called it, but most called it plasma. "All s**t aside, sir. I think if neither of us suffered any wounds from that little ordeal, we'd be just fine sluggin it through the city." He said as he looked around for perhaps some contents of his supplies, anything would help about now. "Well now, Major. You got a pistol, or are you gonna chuck rocks at 'em?"

"While that isn't a bad idea, I do have my sidearm." He chuckled and started moving through the jungle. He scanned their path when he identified something that didn't belong. A man was hanging from the remains of a chute. Lipton ran over and stripped the corpse of supplies. The man wasn't wearing a helmet, but he did have a COMlink earpiece, as well as non-regulation Aviators. Lipton confiscated both, and put them on. Sadly, the Marine whose name was Ryoji had been strangled by his own chute. The COMlink chirped as it powered up and connected to the Command frequency. The man had a MA6K-MPA slung on his back, which Lipton took and slung on his own back. He also took the man's gloves but decided to leave the rest of his armor alone. The fatigues would allow him to move comfortably (well, as comfortably as his injuries would allow) and relatively faster than were he fully armored. The Corpse was once a Lieutenant, and Lipton double checked the corpse once more. He found a Watch-sized OPCOM-SATlink (Operation COM/Satellite uplink). He placed that on his left wrist and turned it on. It made no sound but worked. Now that he was somewhat connected with the rest of the Marines, he felt a little better. "Antares, you got any smokes on you?" He was about to move toward the Sergeant Major when a message came through the COM. Attention all UNSC personnel, this is Lieutenant Winters of the 901st Division. I am transmitting our position and plans. All CO's Carry out orders as followed. Followed by a satellite image of the center of New Mombasa town square and a tactical overlay depicting where the headquarters was as well as defensive lines and supply routes. At least they had encrypted the map file.
[In the City]
Spartan 103 also received the message and Kane snorted. "It sounds like they're asking for the Covenant to break their overly simple codes. We're close enough to their position, you should be able to reach it soon enough. Hurry before the Covenant figure out where you and they are." Taylor sighed and followed his virtual companion's instructions. The Marines would need all the help they could get. Not that they couldn't fend for themselves, it was just that the Covenant currently outnumbered them by an extreme ratio. Something along the lines of seven to one. They needed some major reinforcing, and while more ground units were on the way, they might not arrive in time to make a difference.

UNSC Territory : New Mombasa 0954 Hours/Drop Zone Beta-Alpha-Gamma-November Date log: September 23rd, 2552 ________________________________________
The Main Square of New Mombasa was busy, as all of the Marines struggled to fortify the potisition well enough for a base of fire. Winters knew the Covies would have de-encrypted the message and try to come looking for him, and thats when they would get ambushed at the 2 causeways.
Under the makeshift tent, Winters, Lieutenant Monnaly of 2nd Platoon and Lieutenant Kistler of 3rd Platoon were hovering over a paper map of the overhead city. An Archayic method of overlooking tactics, but its what they had.
"Now what about the Supply Causeways? What if they get attacked?" Kistler asked through the Cigarrette smoke from his mouth. Winters looked up and locked his gaze with Kistler's. "If the Supply Causeways get attacked then," He looked back down at the map on the table, using his finger at a pointer, "then we Pull units from the 2nd and 3rd back to cover our asses untill we can get airsupport. But I highly doubt we'll lose them." Winters reached into a portfolio and strew out another map, this one of the area down the Supply Causeways. "Now unless they flank right here..." Winters drew a circle around 34th street with his finger. "Then I dont think we'll lose this area at all. Up here they have a SPARTAN covering their asses. So as long as he stays alive, we have some hope of keeping the Causeways Gunk free..." A chuckle came from the 2 other CO's. "Any other questions?" Winters asked, looking at both of them. "Sir," Monnaly stepped forward and hovered over the table, "What happens if we get hit by an Airstrike?" Winters directed his attention toward 2 buildings. "Here and here we have Jackhammer in position. And we have 2 AA Fitted Warthogs coming down Causeway 3 tommarow." "Alright, got it sir." Monnaly said. Lieutenant Winters Gave each of them a quick look. "We need their spirits high, and they need to be ready for anything. I think the Ship with Captain Corhey went down. Along with 3 others over the Ball stadium. So for right now, we're without a Battallion CO. We're just gonna have to run it our way. Got it?" Both of them nodded. Winters saluted them. They returned it, and walked out, back to their designated areas.
The Lieutenant knew things were grave. If the Battallion CO had been taken down, then they were in bigger trouble than they thought. Best not to let the men know.
1st Lieutenant Richard Winters sat on a supply crate, his Helmet sitting on the table. He rubbed his hands into his face and began to think to himself, I wonder if we do have any hope in this...

"Yessir, I got some cloves before I left station, watch out, though. They break easy." Antares said after Lipton finished stripping the corpse of supplies. He held out the black box of clove cigarettes and Lipton froze. Apparently he already got a transmission over the COMLink. It must've been at least somewhat important, stopping the officer from receiving something capable of calming his nerves.

Glenn accessed a private COM channel and attempted to patch himself through to Spartan-103 to no avail. He opened a public COM channel among all UNSC personnel and spoke,"Graves here. I'm enroute to rendevous point with Winters. To Spartan-103: I'll see you there. Give those Covie bastards hell and show em what you can do. Graves out." With that, he moved towards Winters signal origin. He prayed that he would encounter some Marines on the way there to help him with combat. He walked with an evil smile and the thought of the enemy cowering in his scope pleased him.

Morgan heard his data-pad produce a rapid beeping, and he pulled it out, and slung his Rebel AP Assault Rifle immediately. Drawing his M6C pistol, he scanned the area, then checked over the rendezvous point. He was a little ways off from there, so he'd go after Sergeant Graves quickly, then head back to headquarters. In those few moments, Captain Morgan L. Hunter had all in all forgotten that his team was mid-battle. He stuffed the data-pad back into his vest, and sheathed his sidearm. Quickly tearing the rifle from his arm, he fired at the nearest pack of Grunts, eliminating them efficiently, then turning his attention to the Elite. He sprayed almost an entire clip on it to bring him down to his knees. He would die soon, that much blood spilling on the ground Morgan thought, a smile tugging at his lips. "Sergeant Graves, you heading to HQ? Team Nobody will meet you at a rendezvous point halfway once we're done here." he called into the COM, hearing a clicking sound from his weapon. Morgan dropped out the current clip, and slapped a new one in, bracing against the old building that the rest of his team had decided to take cover in as well.
Spartan-108 was still rushing, Jason on his shoulder, who seemed to be firing upon whatever in the hell was chasing them. He heard the Private say something about a plasma bolt headed in his direction, and he immediately dropped him, and rolled, bringing up his M5-51 SAW to bear, spraying a half clip at the enemy, letting the fifty rounds tear through anything in their path. He looked at the Private, who hadn't gotten up yet, and hoisted him up quickly. "Come on son. On the double, head to Lieutenant Mendez, I'll finish up here. On the double soldier!" he yelled in a calm tone. He gave the Marine a starting push, then took cover in a nearby destroyed Seraph fighter. Odd how these things didn't get completely destroyed when they crashed because of the atmosphere. He brought up the tacmap, and marked this location. They'd want to scavenge this. He braced against it, and peered over the top. A streak of plasma shot over him, and Logan opened fire.

"Sergeant Graves, you heading to HQ? Team Nobody will meet you at a rendezvous point halfway once we're done here."
"Understood. See you there. Graves out."
Glenn moved out and unslung his rifle. Though this was not his preferred weapon in his current situation, he would have to make do with what he had. He had traveled no more than three kilometers when he ran in to some wandering Jackels. He sighted his sniper rifle on the closest one and slowly pulled the trigger. He was rewarded with a foutain of blood that spewed from the limp body of what was once a living enemy. Three more rounds and three bodies later, he could relax a bit. He quickly reloaded his weapon and activated the scope to ten times normal magnification. The magnification revealed that there was a small group of Grunts and Jackels moving in his direction. Damn, gotta move and fast...

UNSC Territory : New Mombasa 1157 Hours/Drop Zone Beta-Alpha-Gamma-November Date log: September 23rd, 2552 ________________________________________
//////Log 2738-A >>>> Corperal Rinock, Timothy M. /press enter to begin log entry/
We had just landed not to long ago and commotion already started to arise down the road.
While stationed at Cawsway 1, I spoted a patrol of Grunts scouting the area, and no doubt they found the outermost edge of the defencive base of fire.
The main defencive line was set around the Main Square. Incase troops needed a fallback point, BAGN or Base Bag'n as some of the guys called it, was indended to be a last line of defence. This was a final resorting measure, bacically intrenching ourselves deep in the heart of the city, repelling anything they threw at us, making a main Defencive line agianst the Covenant.
Private Cohshahawken or "Hawk" as he was called to his teammates was busy stripping plaiting from a car when the first shots fired.
From 12 O'clock from the southern most position, a small scout squad of 3 Banshee's opened fire right on Hawk's position. And because he was stripping a car, Plasma melted into the gastank, causing the area around him to create a funeral pyre. His remains were never found.
While the onslaught went on, I sat against the delerict of a Pelican that was destroyed when the previous attempts to make this a controlling base of fire failed. The main defence force was all killed. Most of their bodies were gone, but the ones that remain were in bits and peices all around the area.
One man, a Private Dun as the TEAMSAT tagged him, was torn apart all together. Myself and Sergeant Hommel found his tosro underneath a peice of scrap just the previous hour. While 5 minutes later, we had recived another word from down Supply Causeway 2, they found his arm a mile up the road.
>>>The onslaught continued. I saw as streaking bolts of plasma peirced through Tech Officer Grant while he was struggeling with a LAAG attachment. He had a wife whom he hadn't seen in 5 years. With what little it did, I unloaded a fre rounds into the purple based hull of the Banshee. They pinged off like nothing. The hellfire contiued.
By the time we had eliminated all 3 Aerial units, we had lost 5 men, and had 15 injured. 3 from my squad. For myself, I suffered a peice of shrapnel across the cheek. Nothing much but it would be just another war scar I could show off to the girl in the bar on Shore leave.
For right now, Lieutenant Winters is setteling the troops down, as I could see in the way he looked at us, this was not the way it was suppost to be going. And with the recent dissaperance of Captain Cohrey, people started to question the Lieutenant's command.
More news to come.

Major Lipton shook his head and reached for the cigarettes. He placed one on his lips and lit it. The faint trail of smoke was illuminated by the occasional "god-ray" in the trees. He coughed once, though it wasn't from the cig. "Well," he said to the sergeant, "E Company, 1st battalion, 506th MIR, 901st Marine Division set up camp in the middle of New Mombasa." He brought up an image of the map that had been broadcasted to UNSC personnel in the general area. Lipton and Antares weren't actually that far out all things considered. He zoomed out on the map and highlighted their position. They were only about three and a half miles out. It was an easy enough walk. Apparently the jungle was supposed to end somewhere within two miles. After that they would be running through the city of New Mombasa. "We can make it to their position in no time if we hurry." The funny thing was that the cigarette actually seemed to help conquer the pain. Lipton wondered how the rest of 2nd Battalion was doing. He knew they had deployed into the city, though where he wasn't exactly sure. After deciding what to do he opened a link to the command COM-NET and spoke up. "Lieutenant Winters, this is Major Lipton of the One-Oh-Fifth ODSTs. We are en route to your position, keep the back door open for us."
[In the City]
Spartan 103 moved swiftly through the ruins. While he hadn't actually said anything over the com yet, it was interesting that people knew he even existed. Being marked as MIA (like all other dead Spartans) was apparently not working out so well. Regardless, he would help the others out. There was no honor in leaving men to die needlessly. Besides, it would be a little fun, and he hadn't really been able to have fun for a long time.

Jason hurried off, Assault Rifle and M6C Pistol reloaded and at the ready. He had a run in front of him, and knew he'd be faced with Covenant. "Lieutenant Mendez, this is Private First Class Jason Ellington. Can you hear me? I am on my way to your location."
