Sturm was a good charachter, but he really wasn't mentioned too much in the books. He also always seemed to be the one that would die first because there really weren't too many chances for people to understand his charachter. Also, the moustache was silly.

Yes it was.
I mean, why the hell would an organization (that's the only thing I can think of to call it...) like the Knights of Solamnia pick such a...weird symbol? And wouldn't it get in the way in battle...the enemy could grab it or something..

Sturm BrightBlade... He set my destiny. Thanks to reading of a personality like him I was able to organize everything that I liked about Bushido and the several different types of honor world wide, into one type of personality. Complete devotion to ideals is what defined for me how true honor was kept, how you truly gave a meaning to life instead of becoming a mere machine and cheating your way to the top. Sturm gave me the model for what I wanted to be. When I was bereft of everything I had in a place I knew nothing about I was tested on this. It is incredible how you can have everything you please in one moment and later find yourself discovering for the first time in your life the REAL meaning of "starving". I didn't give up, I devoted myself to keeping my ideals and doing what was right during a crisis. Never giving up on what I believed in. I wasn't going to become everything that I had always hated just because I was going to die. I am somewhat perplexed because most of you see Sturm's devotion to Ideals annoying or pointless. Lemme tell you something. That devotion to ideals is useful when you find out the ugly side of life. It gives you strength to keep going. Ideals give your life meaning.

Don't know if I'm expressing myself clearly but I'm kinda sleepy so that would explain the order of sentences here.

right. the ugly side of life is less than ideals. trust me i know but even wiht your ideals they can be delusional, trapping you in their glow and promish. ideals are just that ideal. not exactly somthing you can reach most of the time, and sturm was really annoying, xd ideals don't hold up to well with reality i find. it's better just to be delusional (i know i am)

They can't only be delusional, the whole concept of ideals is. But we follow it because we believe in it. You can't live by following ideals but it's more fun to do so. Because we don't really know what's real except for what in front of us. I think we define what can and can't be done. If so then whatever reality you believe in is going to be your limit and your path. No one can escape this. It's just more fun to follow your ideals.

very true. i don't think reality has won any points, in fact it's loosing ground. but still sturm had almost no notion of reality, and how he could accomplish his ideals, he just seemed to say this is the code, this is how i live. even if it's not conductive to a long and healthy life. that was being to constrained by ideals i think is why so many people dislike him

I think looking back on the Knights, they were like the Jedi at their twilight. They were going to fall, Sturm happened to be one of their better ones but yeah, too stuffy and rigid for me. Raistlin was far more human behaving than Sturm

he was stuffy and rigid, but perhaps that's because he couldn't stand to lose his honor. he knew he wasn't the most popular guy around, but he never changed himself. i really respect that. and i think many people dislike him because he reminds them that they have lost honor. i'm not saying everyone, but certantly some
