Mercedes huffed, looking indignant that Angel would even doubt her prowess as a wise-woman, seer, or any other mystical magical sort of thing. "Lie? Ha! What need have I for lies when I can tell the future, my dear?"
She shook Angel's hand firmly, but rather than release it after a few solid pumps, turned it over and traced a line on her palm with a slender finger, as if she were going to read the girl's future there. She clucked her tongue disapprovingly. "Ah, if only you knew what to expect, you should not be caught so... um... unexpected," she finished rather lamely. She made no mention of having already asked for Angel's name twice; somehow, being an absent-minded seer seemed like too great a contradiction, even for Mercedes.

Angel frowned and pulled her hand out of Mercedes grip. "Sorry, but I don't believe in all that kind of stuff." She told her. "Besides, if you can tell the future, why do you you always cheat? Couldn't you just cheat on the people that will choose the right cup?" Feeling confident that she had fooled Mercedes, Angel turned and started to walk away.

Mercedes just flashed Angel another charming smile. Did she sense a hint of resentment there? Maybe a fear of the future? Maybe she had been slighted by a telepathic lover in her distant past, and still bore the scars of that betrayal? These were the questions that occupied Mercedes' mind, but luckily enough for everyone involved, she kept them to herself.
"Then you still would have lost, and I shall sleep easier tonight for it!" she called merrily after Angel, obviously not believing that she had been bested at her own game. Even if Angel had taken some of her coins, it wasn't as though she didn't still have enough from the rest of the morning.
But still... Mercedes frowned to herself, deep in thought. Maybe she would meet Silver again. Maybe sometime soon. It was a thought, at least.
