Hicks moved towards the base in long strides and he didn't make a sound as he went. It seemed like only moments later when his squad had reached the main gate of the base. They hadn't been seen as far as Hicks could tell so all was going well.
But Hicks was still troubled. There had still been no sign of any guards.
He wasn't interested in going in through the front door obviously. He decided to climb the bases eastern fence. It would be a fairly simple matter. The fence had barbed wire at the top but it could be countered with Hicks's jacket.
Hicks signaled for his team to follow him and went to the eastern fence. Once there he removed his coat and tied it loosely around his right arm and began to climb the fence. When he made it to the top he untied his jacket and laid it over the barbed wire. He pulled himself up and over the wire without sustaining any wounds.
When he hit the ground he made sure the area was secured and when he was sure that it was clear he signaled for his squad mates to follow him.

Jack followed with ease, hopping the fence quickly and quietly. He moved to a nearby building about ten yards away and aimed into the base with the M-16. Seeing nothing of interest, he waved to Hicks that it was all clear, then scanned the area for the storage buildings, quickly spotting them. He made a mental note of their location-directly in the center of the base- then shifted himself and put a dip of Copenhagen into his mouth, quietly putting the can of chew away.

The Soldier hung to the fence long enough to retrieve the commanders jacket. No telling if they'd be using the same point to exit, and such a nice coat didn't deserve to be left behind to shred into oblivion. He wrapped it around his arm, and landed on the ground softly. He'd return it first chance he had.
A slight unease reared as there was no sign of guards, or any activity at all. He looked quickly, and silently headed off into the shadow, almost losing himself in the dark. Making his way to what seemed to be storage containers, he carefully climbed the edges to see what was atop the structure. As he peered over the edge, he saw something that made his skin crawl.....
...Nothing. A base with no guards was always a bad sign, and the severe lack of any at this base was no exception.

Hicks signaled for his squad mates to follow him in a loose recon formation. They had to figure out what was going on. Hicks had a sick feeling in his gut that this whole operation was going to get blasted to hell.
The team made their way through the base rather quickly. They were being cautious but there didn't seem to be any reason to be stealthy. As far as Hicks could tell no one was home...
Suddenly a loud noise overtook the base and Hicks took cover behind a crate and motioned to his comrades to do the same.
Thunderous cheering began to envelope the base. It sounded as if they were in a stadium or colliseum and were about to fight for their lives...Hicks hoped that wasn't the case.
The cheering was coming from the other end of the base. Hicks signaled for his team to move quickly to find out what this disturbance was.
As his team moved a helicopter passed over head and headed towards the source of the cheers. The closer it got the louder the people became.
Hicks's team took cover behind some crates that were close to the event. They watched as the helicopter landed and a man stepped out and walked to a nearby podium. He appeared to be a high ranking officer. Hicks couldn't make out his rank however.
The man cleared his throat and talked over a microphone:
"Greetings Soldiers of the Imperial Army. I know that you are all excited to see the new fire power that is being brought in today by our brothers in arms. Our scientists have created some new firepower to supply you with that will turn the tide of any battle. They have accomplished feats that you would have thought impossible. We will trully be the most powerful army the world has ever seen..."
Hicks cursed under his breath.

Jack cocked his M-16, a sound easily drowned out by the crowd, and took aim on the officer. "Sir?" he queried Hicks, Wanting to know if he could blow the man's maniacal-a** away, an easy feat for Jack, especially this close...
((Hmmm, I say we blow him away and ski-daddle away with the 'New Superweapon'. All opposed?))

((*laughs* Sure we can do that. We'd only have to fight a small army to get it. wink ))
Hicks laughed slightly at Jack's comment. It was mighty tempting to attempt to steal this new "weapon" that the old man was talking about. Hicks wasn't sure if it was worth the risk however.
"I think that it is best if we use this distraction to remove whatever weaponry we can find back at those armories" he said gesturing over his shoulder back to where they just came from. "This so called 'weapon' that he is talking about is meant to turn the tide of battle between nations. We don't need anything like that. Besides, we wouldn't be able to steal it without them noticing us, and even if we did we would be hunted down and jeopardize not only our lives but everyone elses at C.O.N.F.L.I.C.T."
He turned around and began stealthily running to the nearest armory. He looked once more over his shoulder and thought about what the new weapon could possibly be.
"Not worth the lives of my men." he said to himself.

The Soldier was curious as to this new weapons design, if not having it. Curiosity was just something that often got you into quite a bit of trouble, and the old adage silently echoed in his head.
He silently slunk over the top of the container to the end, where the large metal door held shut. Only a simple closing mechnism, not even a lock. It all seemed so simple, no problem yet whatsoever. As long as the entire base was preoccupied, it should continue that way. However, the Soldier thought differently; it wouldn't last, too good to be true. But who was he to tell the future?
He started to lift the giant bolt that held the door closed, and the grating sound of the rusted metal moving, sliding together. He saw his commrades below; time was of the essence.

Jack let out a chuckle and backed away towards the Armories and the Soldier. If any of those bastards decided to turn around, he'd let loose, hopefully covincing the rest of them that a large force was attacking, if only for a few seconds. In his years of military servicde Jack had learned that a few seconds could save lives, and he wasn't going to have any of these kids, or his new commanders, die on the battlefield.

Hicks went to the closest armory and cautiously made his way inside. It appeared to be unguarded as well. The Imperials must have been really looking forward to their new weapon.
He went to a nearby crate and removed the lid. Inside were ten M-16 rifles and they looked to be in excellent condition. Hicks smiled and resealed the crate. More M-16's alone would help the guild out tremendously and they hadn't even seen what else was here yet.
"See what you can find in these crates. I am going to have a look in the offices and see what kind of information I can find." he motioned towards the closed in rooms that branched off of the armory.
(Try to keep the weapons you find pretty simple. Basic rifles, shotguns, handguns etc. Maybe snag an RPG of some kind and a sniper rifle. I'll leave it to you guys to decide the models. Have fun. biggrin )

Jack smirked as he found the cratefull of AKs and .45s, favoring the latter of the two, but taking them all, nonetheless. He hefted the crate into the APC and turned back around, looking like a kid in a candy store. He smiled as he hefted an old M79 grenade launcher, then let out a quiet "ooh-rah." as he gazed upon the grenade launcher attachments for the M-16s. There were four, easily carryable. He took them and their case to the APC and set them into the crate with AKs and pistols, filling the small box. "well, I got what I wanted, you gonna grab a new toy'r two?" He said to the soldier, silently spitting some tobaccco juice onto the pavement near the APC.
((no, we aren't taking the veitnam-era 'nade launcher....))

Hicks moved to the offices and began going through the desks. He was curious if he could find any kind of documents containing any information on this new "weapon" the Imperials had created. Even a simple list of the weapons that were stored at this base would be a welcome sight.
He gave up looking through the desks when he noticed that each one had the same paperwork. High ranking personnel didn't use these desks. He looked around and saw a enclosed room at the back behind the small offices.
After cautiously opening up the door and checking the room Hicks relaxed a little and went over to the desk. There were all kinds of various forms of paperwork on top of the desk. Everything from weapon shipments and personnel data to personal appointments and weather forecasts. This was definitely the office of an Officer.
Hicks sat down at the desk and began going through some of the more important looking papers.
