As soon as Pyralis's fingers touched the rock, a burst of magic sparked over her fingers. Shin whooshed back from Pyralis and the explosive rock, startled.

The windigo jerked back instinctively, eyes dazzled by the sudden blaze. The she smiled slowly and reached back for the object, seeking warmth again even if it was delivered with pain. Blood dripped from her fingers, making it hard for her grasp things.
"I take it we're close?"

Shin sent Pyralis an affirmative wave of emotion. He was unsure what was going on...it had been hundreds of years since he had seen the Ancient and he didn't know what tricks she was up to-
"Ahh, so it was you that set off my trap." A voice purred across the clearing.
Shin whirled around, confused. He could see no one there, but he could sense a great swell of magic throughout the clearing. The feeling had grown exponentionally since Pyralis' touch had caused the rock to erupt. He floated closer towards Pyralis, half out of an inborn desire to protect her and half a reaction of wariness.

Pyralis' head ached from the wash of magic, but the pain of the explosion had cleared her mind well enough to keep her from reacting instinctively. She straightened, fingers hardening into metallic claws. She tried to feel for some emotional clue as to what the voice meant for them, but there was no way past the wall of power surrounding them. She glanced at Shin and raised an eyebrow: What now?
"It was, my lady." she said as clearly as possible.

A breeze ripped through the clearing, swaying trees and causing buckets of snow to fall from waving branches. Little tornadoes of leaves circled around themselves, curling around Pyralis' feet.
"And why have you come here, young one?" The voice whispered softly in Pyralis' ear. The wind stripped itself away, revealing Wagosh piece by piece, from her flowing burgandy hair to her half visible arms, resting gently on Pyralis' shoulders.
Shin whirled around to face the Ancient, watching the exchange with muted nervousness.

The windigo stayed as still as possible, barely breathing. "You told me you were my ancestor once. My life is bleeding away and I want to know why so I can stop it. Shin said to come to you."

"You're one of mine?" Wagosh chuckled. "No, young one, you are mistaken. We had planned it, but things turned...messy." She disappeared from behind Pyralis in a burst of wind, reappearing seconds later inches from the young windigo's face. "Were you looking to finish the binding?"
Wagosh stared into Pyralis' eyes, her own gaze sharpened. "I can't help you unless you finish what was started years ago."

She frowned, tilting her head as she let what memories she had of this creature slid over her mind. There was nothing like what she spoke of here. "I don't remember what you are speaking of. Have I forsaken my ancestor for you?"

"You had no one to forsake." Wagosh pulled back, waving her hand frivolously. "You came to me with no previous bond, looking for someone to guide you."
She looked at Pyralis out of the corner of her eye. "Your shell gave way to dust before you could finish pledging yourself to me." In the blink of an eye she was sidling up to Pyralis again, invading her space. "I believe you had been in the same sort of situation as you currently are now." She said conspiratorially.

She desperately wanted to step back, but Pyralis forced herself to stay still. Only her eyes moved to follow Wagosh's strange movement and her lips to speak. "What situation is that, exactly?"

Wagosh smiled, chuckling as she stood floated backwards once again, her lower half fading in and out of visibilty as if it were tendrils of wind.
"You can feel the burning, yes? Inside your sack of flesh."

"The burning and the lack of it." Pyralis said flatly, resisting the urge to wrap her arms around herself. "As if I had just possessed it."

"As if it doesn't suit you anymore?" Wagosh tilted her head, the enigmatic smile creeping wider across her face.

Pyralis frowned, shaking her head lightly. "I claimed this flesh as my own. I will wear it until it dies and I must find another."
She glanced at Shin out of the corner of her eyes, knowing he would get mad at her for this. "I don't want to be just an aura again."

Shin's aura flared before he could reign in his base reactions. His sense of self seemed to sharpen in the presence of an Ancient, if only from his wariness and self consciousness. These beings were not ones to idly piss off. He quieted his thoughts and concentrated on controlling himself so he could pay close attention to the proceedings.
"Little one, listen to what your flesh is telling you." Wagosh brushed her fingers down Pyralis' roiling flesh. "Your essence is burning through that precious skin of yours. You've grown too strong for this delicate shell."
"If you stay in this flesh, you will be an aura once more."
