PL3453_K1LL_M3 @ newatreides: The Blink 182 quote is the gayest thing I've ever heard. The Green Day quote is the only cool thing I've ever heard Billy say. Green Day is just a trend. Trying to make a buck off of people who think that a band that was once considered punk is punk. I don't think it's punk to have prepps buy and love your album. *coughRamonescough*

Jill Juvenile Plural of cello is cellos. I think. I've always been the only cello around so I never had the oppertunity to use the plural xd Hmm, music...lately I've been into thrash and power violence. Charles Bronson heart , Municipal Waste, Magrudergrind, Common Enemy, Hirax. Also a lot of the Flatliners and No-Ca$h, but they don't fit in the afformentioned category. Do you like Spazz and Hellnation? Personally my favourite Power Violence bands. Municpal Waste is an interesting example, because their last album was incredibly metal, yet was embraced by a punk and hardcore audience (they do declare themselves to be the "Speed Metal Punks"). The punk influence in the music got punk kids into it, whilst the metal riffs kept the guys with long hair headbanging. I wouldn't really like to say what "punk" is, because its an umbrella term that can be used to descrbie music, dress-sense, lifestyle, politics etc A lot of the bands that I would consider to be truly "punk" mostly have the D.I.Y. ethic; I think thats an important aspect (although it doesn't have to be).

Punk music has no boundaries, no limits, no guidelines.
What's more to say?
If you want to get into punk culture and band's ethics and beliefs, that's a different concept and shouldn't be considered in defining punk as a music genre.

But I would develop a rage which would burn with the white hot intensity of a billion suns, so much do I hate the preps. I find that punk music tends to be set in such a way that it goes afainst the grain of those people though.

That's really what the 80's hardcore punk scene was all about. PL3453_K1LL_M3 @ newatreides: The Blink 182 quote is the gayest thing I've ever heard. Most punk bands eventually look towards making money anyway. Look what happened to TSOL, Bad Brains, Anti-Flag, Misfits, Dead Kennedys (minus Biafra), Bad Religion, and Adolscents (at least I suspect them).

And thus we learn how many a good punk band remained faithful to their roots: By destroying themselves before money could become an issue. Also, as a fan of Bad Religion I admit they had a sellout period, but they seem to have gotten their asses in gear as of late. And yes, the 80's punk movement had it right.

Probably, but maybe we'll get lucky and have a return of 80's style punk music so they can feel less isolated... But I think the music industry needs reform first.

No, the music industry will be the same consumer-wanting shithole. A whole new musical revolution that isn't punk is what needs to happen. Unforunately, I can't imagine what new and radical music anyone in this generation can create. -_-
