there was a deep seated social value of kindness and hospitality to strangers in bible times.

this was the crime of Sodom and Gomorrah; instead of welcoming the visitors, they sought to abuse them for pleasure.

we don't even know what gender the viaiting angels appeared to be, do we?

i believe that what would have shocked people most greatly in those times was not the nature of the sexuality but the brutal welcome of guests who should have been honored instead.

Yep. In Ezekiel it says that the sin of Sodom was being inhospitable.

References to same sex intercourse in the Old Testament referred to it as a sin because it was part of idol worship. And the reference in Romans was with regard to the fact that homosexual Romans would engage in heterosexual sex for the thrill. So they would give up what was natural for what was unnatural.

You need to read the entire section and take things in context. Not just pull out verses.

And as for abortion. While I don't believe it should be practiced as a form of birth control, I do believe that we need to have compassion for the female who finds herself in need of one. Personally, I believe all aborted or miscarried babies go straight to heaven.

I thought this was a progressive guild.
