Vitiate But invaders are going to end up traveling to the dark lands, and getting overwhelmed by hordes of orcs and trolls and the like, which know the land intimately, with surprise ambushes all around. Not to mention all those other creatures, roaming ghouls, lesser demons and nightwalkers. I just see in my head, a situation like in the movie Prometheus, where the science expedition had no clue they were walking into a place that would get them all hurt or killed. Only, more to a fantasy/adventure feel, instead of a super "all get-out" sci-fi thing. ♚
EXACTLY. That's a great way to put it. Not sure its understood. :T
Great movie, by the way.

I'm fine with the shards idea, I'm glad everyone thought of that. It will be a lengthy endeavor, so its fine! Perhaps even the leader of the Ghost lands could have a shard to include her. c:

Freya Nightfell ♚
(Fantasy with no limits placed? We'd all be Gods, l a w l -- let's just defy gravity right now. What do you think Godmodding is for? It is a limitation of fantasy! A form of realism)
Oh? Realism has no stance in role play? That's funny. :T
Well, in mine, I'd rather have some sort of realism based on mentioned factors (realism being based on seeing things as they really are). Meaning I'd like for obstacles to be acknowledged, rather then entirely disregarded. I understand the excitement in taking my Kingdom out, but you should understand that I wouldn't be all too happy with it being easy.
I will repeat myself. I do not mind that you and your galavanting caravan, you know, saunter about the Darklands and all, but, I only do not appreciate the lands themselves being undermined.
And at that note, I'll leave things as they lie.
-- Actually, I like this idea. You all come into the Darklands and we'll see how this pans out.
Gravity can be defied in most fantasy settings and godmodding is not a form of realism. I think what you meant to say is that godmodding is a label for unrealistic play in an RP, but that's also false. We frown upon godmodding not because it defies the rules of a setting but because is degrades the experience produced from roleplaying. In this type of setting, we actually are gods; that's why we can define our realms and define the various unpassable obstacles to their demise if we so feel. We theoretically have total control over our realms, which is why I suggested we make this thread. Now is probably the time to say this: If you object to a plot idea, just say you object to it. Agreeing to an idea in principle before creating red tape to make life difficult is what bureaucrats do when they object to an order given to them by someone higher in the hierarchy. There is no hierarchy within an RP; as I've said before, they're a collective form of pleasure seeking. The cooperation of all players is critical to the survival of a plot, so, if you object to a plot's planned endgame, just say so and explain. You alluded to that in your most recent post, and I thank you for that, so, unless anyone has a particular love for this plotline, I propose we abrogate the endgame of this plot to not result in the complete destruction of the Darklands. I hope that solves the problem.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I don't think I'd like to repeat myself right now. As I have been for awhile. I meant to say exactly what I said, nothing else. If I wanted to argue, we'd be here for hours. So, thank you for taking the time to lay out your outstanding views.
-- Anyhow, we should move on to more important things. The general plan, how will you all even find out about the shards?

Alright. Now from what I gathered from looking through this thread is...nothing. Something about every being at the summit except those from the dark kingdoms and something about people finding shards up their rears.

I don't mean any offense when I say this, but it's necessary I explain it now or this thread won't have any movement. If you've meant to say exactly what you said, then you've meant to tell us that you like the idea but you don't like where it's going, you don't like its endgame, you don't like how we plan to carry it out, you don't think it's possible, and you don't like anything providing impediment to the Darklands. I might be the one at fault here, and I sincerely apologize if I am. To find out if I am, I hope you don't mind me asking what exactly you like about the idea.

Okay so the whole shards thing.. How do they find out about them, I believe was brought up.
Well, considering the shards are all-over the world, supposedly, perhaps at the summit, it is noticed that a shard being carried by one of the regional lords, is near identical and able to interlock with a shard from another regional lords possession.
Then it hits them, maybe there's more? Since the shards have magical properties, associated with Darkfell, there's the incentive to gradually "push" towards Darkfell, in hopes of answers as to what sort of artifact they are dealing with.
I'm also fine with one of the shards being present in Terra Mortuis. Maybe I could do more with Terra Mortuis' story too.. Not sure.. I haven't had time to go to my constructive thinking zone lately today. Tis been a pretty crap day for me so far sad
But this isn't about me, it about the shards. So, there's my idea anyhow.

See, now. Here I go. Pointing.
It should be perfectly understandable why I wouldn't approve of my Kingdom being destroyed, because that is what you plan to do, correct? I won't even explain why I wouldn't approve, that's obvious. It is currently unethical how you plan, to carry it out, but that's fine, it is developing.
If it was not obvious, I like the general idea of a venture to find the shards. As it is a furthering of the outskirts knowledge of the Darklands and it is a way to include all characters. Etc etc.
