Oh! She was so late to this one that Mei was already up and doing whatever the girl was used to be doing. This wasn't good! She had to pick up some pace! Oh, who was she kidding, she failed at that... but, it was alright! The turtle did beat the rabit! Unless it was that one story where the rabbit turned out to eat turtles... ANYWAY! The little faired poof'ed inside the Chinese girl's bed room and placed a pretty blue plate with Chinese characters on the rim. Inside the plate was some water and in the middle was a lotus flower. There! It was at the same time a flower, something Chinese and something that could be used in medicine! What else could the girl like? Next to it, she dropped a small letter.
Ah! Sorry Mei! I am so late! I've been a horrible, horrible fairy! Please forgive me! Pretty please? Oh yeah, right this isn't about me... it's about you... sorry... really... sorry... So, uhm... what was I write again? Oh yeah! right... Sorry, I forgot... So.. uh.. You've been doing really good! You're the employer who stayed the longest at you job and you've meet a couple of people with whom you've been hanging out, it's really good... Too bad your best friend left! You could meet other people like you! Can I suggest that Gail Boyer woman? Or perhaps Zelenity? They are both new in town and would just love you! You could go take a stroll in the fields or something... yeah... uh... go you!"

Next was Mei. This time, Lily made sure that the girl was sleeping when she slipped into the apartment! She flew into the Chinese girl's bedroom, hovering over the sleeping figure as she searched for a bedside table... Did she rearrange her room? She spotted the bedside table, err... at the end of the bed, and hurried over to leave a pretty Chinese vase, containing a few daffodils and a piece of fern, on top. Next to it she left a letter addressed to the girl.
Good morning, Mei! I hope you slept well! You've been doing really well this year! Err... or maybe not. That storage cupboard doesn't look very comfortable. Still, you've been handling Mao wonderfully! And you've managed to make some new friends too, right? Still, wouldn't it be lovely if you made some new friends? I still think you should meet Zelynity, she's nice. And have you ever spoken to Freja von der Bach? I'm sure you'd like her too! Maybe you three could have a picnic! In the fields! Keep up the good work, okay?

In the early morning of the day, there came a few knocks at Mei's apartment. ...Noooo, not from the front door, sillies! Please, who used that ruddy contraption anymore, anyway? It was SO out of style! Especially for a youthful cat like Catrina! ..Of course, so was knocking, which was why she hadn't waited more than a few seconds at the window before pulled it open and hopping inside. It wasn't like the apartment was extraordinarily high up to cause any amazement at her feat. Oh, no, they were really just on the second floor – falling from there to the ground below would probably cause a broken bone or two more than a fatality. It was more because there wasn't a window sill or.. really, anything that could have had Catrina sticking to the outside of the window like she had been. Ah, but, Catrina wasn't going to tell anyone her secret techniques to climb up to the window~ It had taken her nearly a year to do it properly, after all! Plus, it was a little too complicated; Lotte would likely explain it better..
Anyway, she was inside the apartment and walking casually over to the kitchen to drop a freshly killed rabbit on the counter. “Mjaaau~? Meeeii~?” She called out after the body hit the clean counters – one can only hope that no blood would stain the pretty counters.. Oh, what did a cat care about that? She eyed her own claws for a moment to make sure they were nice and clean before returning brown hues to the apartment in search of her favorite kitten. “Mjaaau! I'm home! I'm home! I've got food~!” She tried again excitedly as she went to sit on the counter beside her kill, taking the rabbit back up in her hands to hold it over her head proudly. Had they had rabbit before? She wasn't sure~ But, she was sure it would be tasty for breakfast!

Thankfully, Mei wasn't asleep. Working at the clinic for about five years had made it hard for her to sleep past sunrise. It wasn't always a good thing, and it probably wouldn't hurt for her to get a little bit more sleep, especially when it came to stress. But this morning, she was glad that she had been awake when she heard someone tumble through the window. She was in the bathroom, washing her face, but if she had been asleep, she probably would have thought that someone was coming in to attack her. But since she was fully conscious, she remembered that Catrina always did stuff like that, so a panic was avoided. Still, she was curious as to what the girl was doing outside at such an hour, and so she rinsed off her face, dried it, and unclipped her long, brown hair before leaving the bathroom. "...Catrina?" Upon leaving the bathroom, however, she could feel an unfortunately familiar tickle on the back of her throat. She always got this feeling when Catrina brought home animals, dead or alive. She kind of hoped it was alive this time.
But unfortunately, as she turned into the kitchen, she spotted the rabbit right away and let out a surprised cry, before covering her mouth and nose with her hands. "Catrina! What's... what's that doing here?" she asked, her voice muffled. It was a cute rabbit! A dead, cute rabbit! Oh, she didn't need this right now! And she had thought the bird last time was bad.

Catrina brightened instantly when she heard her favorite kitten's voice carry over the apartment to her 'feline' ears. She twisted on the counter and stared over at the woman from her spot, dangling the rabbit from her hands as she studied her. Was that.. shock? ..From catching a rabbit? Oh, please! Catrina had caught much better and harder prey than this measly thing! There was hardly a reason for Mei to be so surprised at the girl's capabilities! Catrina still gave a small mix of a purr and giggle as she stared at Mei, somewhat pleased to know she was capable garnering so much awe~ She slid down from the counter and smoothly made her way over to her roommate. “Food.” She repeated while she waved the limp creature at Mei's eye level, smiling proudly before dropping it onto Mei with some trust she'll catch the gift. “I wanted a peacock, mjau, but the flea-bitten bird escaped!” She ended irritatedly with a hiss, carefully crossing her arms so she didn't scratch herself with the claws on her hands. She had, at one point, attempted to speak only in 'meows' and 'mews' with the kitten, but she eventually got the idea that Mei couldn't understand that, so, understanding of what it must have been like to not have a mother cat teach her the ropes, Catrina had started to talk somewhat normally to her. But, that didn't stop her from bringing home dead animals..
“It's your snack before we go out, merow~!” She shifted her eyes to her expectantly, waiting for her to take her first bite into the food for a brief moment before going on. “I already ate.” She bared her teeth to show that and – oh, god, was that blood? ..Yeah, Catrina had gotten more than just one young rabbit while she was out – Mei should just be happy she saved one for the girl! ..Or maybe not.. Either way, Catrina had already hurried on past her into the home, raising her voice as she moved from room to room in search of something. “Hurry, hurry! Eat it so we can go~!” Hunting took so much energy and time for beginners – they had to start soon or else they could be outside for months. Exaggeration? Probably, but, who knows when it came to Catrina?

Mei felt faint, but whether it was due to the sight of blood or the newly dead animal in her kitchen, she wasn't sure. Once upon a time, she had done her best to hide her disgust from Catrina. But the two had been living together for long enough, been through too much, for her to be quite open with it. Catrina would probably come up with her own excuse anyway. So she looked at Catrina in a mix of helplessness and horror. Oh god, don't tell her Catrina was really expecting her to eat that! A rabbit! She thought teenage girls were supposed to like cute, fuzzy things. That, you know, weren't bleeding all over the kitchen floor. Oh god, blood! Another wave of dizziness washed over Mei, and when she regained her sight, she spoke.
"Uhm, thank you, Catrina," she began delicately, if not for concern for her roommate's feelings, then because she was weak at the sight of blood. "But, I already ate breakfast... And I'm really full, you see..." When had she become such a liar! It was almost horrifying how easily she told these heinous, heinous lies. "...So... let's clean up the rabbit, okay? Let's clean it up and take it outside, before the floors get stained."
After a moment, Mei realized what else Catrina had said, once she had gotten past the horror of having a dead, bleeding animal in her kitchen. "...Wait, Catrina, where are we going?" Ohh, she hoped it was something normally, like a walk or a shopping trip. But despite her best hopes, she really had a feeling that it wouldn't be.

Now, where in the world could it be?! She was on the verge of tearing her hair out in irritation as she scurried throughout the apartment, which wouldn't have been a very safe action considering what was sticking from her hands.. If Mei was afraid of blood, then she probably would appreciate Catrina not stabbing herself by mistake – like she had once done a lot before she got used to having sharp points on her hands. Good thing she never hit anything fatal during those days.. She was just inside Mei's closet when she heard that happy appreciation from the woman – well, it wasn't 'happy', but she took the woman's revulsion as awe easily enough. It wasn't that Catrina was normally denying people's negative reactions, but she had that habit with Mei. It could be because the woman was so polite that whenever she tried to call her out on hating her hard worked gift, she would deny it – a really disgusted person wouldn't have cared if Catrina started to cry, right? So, of course, Mei just had a weird way of showing her own awe and happiness!
..Buuut, then the kitten started spouting out nonsense! Catrina creased her brow and called back out in response indignantly, “What did you eat? That rat food?” She stuck her tongue out at the idea of any of the food inside the kitchen that wasn't fresh meat. Cats didn't eat just whatever was lying around! That was the rats and ants job! Ah, Mei, she would teach her someday..! ..Oh, there it was! She perked up some as she grabbed the kitty headband and gloves she had gotten for the women a few days ago – to celebrate her first hunt! She came back out to the girl with them in hand, looking at the rabbit with a frown. Uneaten? ..Oh, well. She heaved a sigh and shook her head, “Mrrow.. You can eat that later, mjau.” She conceded as she shoved the cat ears and gloves into Mei's arms, “We're going on a trip, merow~ You'll love it! Where do you want to go, mau~? The lake? River? Forest? Or the farm?” She asked as she bouncily headed to the door, holding the door open with excitement sparking in her eyes. If Mei didn't want to eat, that was fine – the hunger would make her more dedicated to hunting, anyway!

Mei crossed her arms and stepped over to the other side of the kitchen, as far away from Catrina as she could get. It was generally a good idea to stay as far away from her when she moving around like this. So she leaned against the counter and kept her eyes away from the little bit of blood left on the floor. She stayed quiet as Catrina questioned her rat food, as she had given up on that battle long ago. It wasn't until the girl returned, holding cat ears and gloves. She looked at the costume accessories curiously, especially when Catrina shoved them into her arms. "What's this?" she questioned, holding up the ears to look at them.
...But then Catrina mentioned a trip. Mei stared at her in disbelief before her eyes glazed over. A trip? The lake! She hadn't been out away from the town in a long time! The lake in early spring? That sounded lovely! Already, she could see it clearly in her mind. Mei wore a sun dress and a straw hat as she sat on a soft blanket. She read a book and ate cute food from cute lunchboxes, while Catrina chased butterflies next to her. Oh, what a lovely sight it was~ "...I would like the lake very much, actually," she said shyly. She was going somewhere other than her apartment, work, and the town square! This was exciting!

What was that? Really! It should be obvious! But, then, a lot of things Catrina found 'obvious' seemed to fly right over Mei's head. Oh, how could a feline become so dim to even the most basic of things? Then again, being a feline trapped in a girl's body was probably a little more complicated than Catrina thought.. Ah, well, no one ever believed her enough to tell her that, anyway. “Your gear! Mau~! Mjau mew mau merow..” She added under her breath, although she knew fully well that Mei couldn't understand her anyway. It was the curse of being so deprived of her own kind! Good thing Catrina was there to fix that~ ..But, maybe she would hold off on teaching Mei how to properly speak? Sometimes a cat just had to say what was on her mind and the knowledge that Mei couldn't be offended by it due to ignorance was a nice bonus!
“Put it on, mau, and then we can go~! To the lake!” Interesting choice for a beginner! It was probably one of the better places for Mei, actually, since the river was just a bit tricky and the forest could be dangerous.. Still water, though, was much simpler! She only went over this for a brief time before she got impatient, however, and simply took the girl by her arm carefully, surprisingly not jabbing her with the claws there as she tugged. Oh, she could put them on as they were heading there! “Before it's too late, merow!” With that short explanation for why she was in a rush, she shut the door behind them and headed off with Mei expectantly in tow.
~Exit to the Lake!~

Admittedly, Lily was a little tense as she entered Mei's apartment. The woman was allergic to animals, she had heard, and so she had thought that she would never have to worry about running into a dog or a cat, but of course, Mei had gotten around that with Catrina. Not that Catrina was a threat, she was still a human, but Lily still couldn't help but feel nervous at the thought of there being a cat-equivalent in the house. And so she moved even more quickly than usual (believe it or not) and she slipped into Mei's room without any sign of Catrina.
Mei had rearranged her room again since last year, but this time she had included a bedside table, so it was better, in Lily's opinion. There she set down a pretty glass vase, filled with multicolored tulips. Tied to the vase was a light blue envelope addressed the sleeping Chinese girl in the bed next to it. Her work done, Lily hurried out of the apartment as fast as her wings would take her, to lessen the chances of her running into Catrina accidentally.
Mei! You're kind of confusing, you know? On one hand, you've managed to make friends again and you seem quite happy, but on the other hand, I question the people who're spending time with. Though, I suppose it was very kind of you to take in that catgirl, and you've been terribly nice about the whole thing. Either way, you should stop spending so much time in the cupboards! When was the last time you spoke to Dante? He's been going through a hard time, I'm sure he'd be glad to have someone nice to speak to. And Talna? You liked her, right? You're doing okay, but you should go make more of an effort! I'm sure the work will pay off! ...Or it won't, but it's best to think positively.
