I didn't get to 100 cranes today. Instead, I only got to 87 cranes. I worked as hard as I did yesterday, but my fingers were only able to fold 47 more birds. Once more, Mommy told me to take it easy and not burn myself out.

Mommy also told me something very important. I am glad I didn't accidently make the mistake of doing this. I am not allowed to tell others of my wish. Mommy said it was fine that I told her, because I didn't have any birds folded yet. Mommy said that it is considered bad luck to tell others of your wish until after you have actually made it.

I wanted to tell Torin mine, since he told me his. Now I have to wait til after I make my wish though, then I can tell him!

I want to learn how to fold pretty paper stars next. Torin likes stars, I can tell because he wants to use his wish on one! Maybe tomorrow I will fold birds til I get to 100, then I work on folding pretty paper stars! I will use a pretty piece of paper too, not these plain white practice papers.

Pretty birds and stars!! I like that!

Today I made it to 100 cranes. I feel so happy about having 100 of 1,000 cranes. Mommy says if I keep up at this rate, I will have my wish made in a month.

I also used one of my pretty papers to make a star for Torin. It was pretty with lots of colerfil colorful swirls on the paper. I hope he likes it:

After I finished with the star, my fingers were tired. I decided to take a break by writing in my journal, but it is not helping much to make my fingers not tired. I think I will go look around the shop and see if there are any other pretty pieces of paper to add to my collection. I like having pretty papers. I hope Mommy brings me more pretty papers tonight.

Bookstore Blunders

Her child now dropped off at the Phantasy, Manx proceeded with a small errand she wanted to run. It was something for her daughter once more.

Recently she had managed to find a decent sum of gold, enough to buy something which she was certain her daughter would enjoy. With her side pouch jingling of coins, though the coins were much larger in comparison to her body, she managed to float in a wobbly fashion towards the nearest bookstore.

The bookstore itself seemed quite promising, seeing as it was taller than the library she had visited several times prior. A big grin adorned the cat demon's face as she ventured closer, simply holding onto the window to the best of her ability and looking in. In all honesty, Manx looked like a doll one would put in their car with suction cups attached to each limb. Yet she didn't really care, for she was too busy looking with wide golden eyes into the shop.

It was filled with books! Of course there had to be books inside, but there was a difference from having books and being filled with books. Having books means there does not have to be a great quantity, nor variety. However, this shop had vast amounts of books, and it appeared from where she was looking that they had a great variety of books.

With very little regard of what the others about her thought, Manx simply slipped through the glass in her usual fashion. A few humans and other creatures stared at her, simply intrigued by what seemed to be "magic." Floating on over to the information desk, Manx waited to the best of her ability to get the attention of the person at the counter.

Yet waiting was not something one should ask of the cat demon. For though it seemed that the gentleman at the desk was busy with someone on the phone (though it just happened to be his girlfriend that he was sweet-talking during work hours), the cat demon began to figit lightly. Looking to the gentleman, who apparently knew she was there, for he was looking her straight in the eye as well, yet he made no signal that he would be with her shortly. Instead, it looked like he planned on ignoring her.

Seating her small self onto the desktop, at first, Manx began to pace back and forth. Then she began to fiddle with the pen that was attached to the counter with a chain. She used her clawed feet to make strange designs just to appease her boredom. Yet the gentleman was still on the phone, keeping an eye upon the cat demon, yet ignoring her completely.

Turning a glance to the man once more, the cat demon let a puff of air snort out of her nose as she then promptly floated on up towards the man. Not really caring who he was talking to, she seated herself upon the man's head and then shouted in his free ear "I NEED TO FIND SOMETHING NOW!!!"

That certainly grabbed the man's attention, for he immediately uttered into the receiver "I'll.... I'll call you back. Love you too!" Pushing the button that would hang the phone up, he then attempted to grab onto the nuisance that was on his head.

"That really ain't good customer service you know..." Manx chimed in lightly as she simply floated off the man's head so she now floated immediately in front of his face.

He remained silent as he simply stared, or rather, glared at the small creature telling him how to do his job. Yet, he eventually broke the silence with a simple "...and what is it you would like to find...?"

"Ah.. thank you for asking... um... what's yer name?"

"Phil..."

"Ah yes! Thank you for asking Phil! I came here to look for a book."

"Yes... what kind of book?"

"Ah... I am looking for a book on Origami! I am getting it for my daughter!"

Phil simply stared with ever so slight the amount of wonder at the creature before him. Childish in personality and looks, yet she had a daughter. It would have to be something for him to ponder later, for he then went to his computer and clacked at the keys.

"Um... yes... there is a bunch of books in regards to 'origami' in the 'Arts' section of the shop. It is down the aisle and to your left. There are big signs above the sections that tell you what is what."

Immediately floating away, she nearly shouted "Thank you!!" then headed off to find the section. Seating himself back down, Phil picked up the phone and dialed up his girlfriend once more, muttering something about "that being the strangest customer to date."

-----------------------------------------------

After a bit of seraching, Manx managed to find the Art section, and even managed to find the section in regards to Origami. Yet all of the books were too large for a small cat demon to lift and carry back "home."

"Darn hard-bound books!" she scoffed lightly as her ears flicked in annoyance. "Why can't they have really good origami books that are paperbound?" she continued to utter as she went through all the books she could find once more. There were a few paperbound books, but they seemed much too simple. Even that library had a good selection of paperbound origami books.

Sighing in a bit of defeat, Manx picked up one of the paperbound origami books and proceeded to the counter. Afterall, something is better than nothing.

Giving all the gold she had to purchase the book, though the gold coins were a bit dirty looking, for they had been sitting in ashes, Manx then began to head back to the Reliquiant shop.

"First the Reliquiant shop to drop this off, then I will head back to the Phantasy for Ophelia. I certainly hope they still have food there, for it will be a long night otherwise..."

I had a dream that Mommy took me somewhere and left me there all by myself. No Mommy and no Rufus. I was sad, but somebody named Bliss came to cheer me up. She was pale and tall and nice. She asked questions I did not like, and they made me sad again. But she also was going to show me soft things. She showed me one soft thing, it was a big kertin curtain. It was soft, but then the dream was done.

I woke up and Torin was there. I got to give him his present, and Torin smiled lots! I could tell he liked it, for he gave me a hug! After that, we folded more cranes. I folded lots of them, more than Torin, but I have more practice. Torin I think grew bored, for he got up and left for a little bit. When he got back, I had made lots of cranes. 17 to be exact!

My fingers hurt though. I had to stop again. Torin was nice and he rubbed Ophelia's fingers. Ophelia then began to hum a bit, and Torin clapped a bit, and Rufus danced.

Torin then wanted to leave, but he stopped near the entrance. I got curious and I went to see what he was looking at. Toshiro and that girl, Mommy said her name was Fiona, were outside. Ophelia is scared of Fiona. She was mean to me and Rufus.

Mommy came back and scared Torin, but then wanted to know why I was scared. Torin left shortly after and I went to bed.

Today was not exiting exciting. I folded cranes until my hands were tired, then rested, then folded some more. Mommy pointed out this morning the present she got me. She bought me an origami book of my own to keep. She returned the other two books to the library. I am going to miss them.

Now I have a total of 156 cranes. I want to finish soon so I can do something special like all the others can!

I have more than 250 cranes now! I lost count, so I am going to count them later on. I got to see Blazen again. I cried, but Blazen helped me stop crying. I got tired, so I fell asleep. Blazen was tired too, so he fell asleep at my home.

Later, we were both awake, and he wanted to show me something. I recall one thing was called a TV, but the rest I am not to good with on terms. There are pictures on a screen, and they move. At first I thought the lady on the screen was stuck inside the box. Blazen is really smart for knowing how the TVs work, and he told me the lady was not in the box, but in a building somewhere else. I don't really get how they work, but moving pictures are much better than still ones.

Blazen promised to show me a funny movie, but I didn't really understand it. He admitted to me that he didn't understand either, but he knew when he was supposed to laugh. I wonder why I didn't know when to laugh?

After the movie was done, some scary man came in the shop. He was really scary. He killed something, for he was covered in blood. I don't want to run into him, because I think he is mean. Ophelia was crying again, but she stopped eventually. Blazen went somewhere to get something, but I don't know why.

While he wasn't there, some girl named Aria showed up. She had Rufus for some reason. She wasn't very nice and she said mean things about my home and my Mommy. She randomly got all stiff like and didn't seem to move much. She woke up, then she mentioned something about Red. After that, she left, but Toshiro showed up carrying Blazen.

Toshiro is not a mean guy, but he got bigger. He is soooo big!! He didn't stay long and soon Blazen and I were left to play again. I got to show him how to fold a peace crane, but he is not good at it. He crumpled his first piece of paper a bit, then he couldn't make nice folds. I even had to help him one time. When we finished, he had to leave. I gave him a hug, and he kissed my sore cheek so it would get better.

I wonder where Mommy is? I want to tell her about all the things, and to warn her about that mean man.

I am not one for cussing, but I getting quite close to that point. My daughter has gone missing, and I think she didn't leave of her own free will.

I had gone off and found Toshiro and warned him about Kojiro. I admire him for actually not hiding in regards. I went and bought more food for Ophelia, seeing as she was busy, but when I got back, the couch was a mess. And her poor cranes, they were scattered about like someone had dumped them out, then quickly attempted to sweep them under the carpet. I read her most recent journal entry, and she said something about warning me. About a mean man. I can only guess one person right now... or vampire... which I warned Toshiro of.

I decided to bring the journal with me, as well as my shoulder pack. I don't really have any place to begin though. I have merely just been staying in kitten form and checking through the houses of the local area, as well as other buildings. The shoulder pack has been handy, for it holds all the stuff for me while I wander. As a kitten, you don't exactly have a good grip.

I honestly think I checked through the whole southern sector of Durem. I didn't find anything, though I did get spotted on occasion by a child or two. Cute kids, they wanted to keep me as a pet. I ran off before they had the chance to get permission from their parents though. Ick! I don't do the pet thing.

I wonder how Ophelia is faring though. I mean, she is quite a unique child, I don't know if Kojiro (meaning this "mean" Kojiro) would be able to handle her. I certainly do hope that Toshiro is around until I can find them. I think he would make a great older brother, or at least a friend, until I find my child again. I am going to try the full city of Durem first, then check the outskirts to see if I can find them. I highly doubt I will be able to find Ophelia so quickly, but at least I am trying damn it!

I am home now. It was like a bad dream, but worse, because it was all real. I didn't like it, and Rufus didn't like it either. Poor Rufus has icky blood on him too.

The man with the red hair took me from home. He smooshed one of my cranes and put me on a shelf way up high from the ground. I don't remember why, but I fell asleep.

When I woke up, Toshiro was running with me in the woods. I didn't know what was going on. Toshiro told me how his Gardean Guardian took me away from my home and wanted to keep me. He said he didn't think that was right, so he was going to take me home.

Toshiro got all funny and mean on me though. In the middle, he began to head back to where he had been coming from and said some not so nice things. Then he spun back towards where he was going before, but then shooed me off to head off on my own. I had never been there before. How was I suppost supposed to know where I was going. I ran for a bit, but I ended up crying beneath a tree.

I don't remember how long I was there, but Toshiro's Guardian found me. I didn't like that. I didn't like where he took me either. He took me to a graveyard. It was not so nice. I didn't like it at all.

__________________

Torin is here now. He is sleeping. It became night time quickly, so I put him to bed.

I was put in a box. It wasn't just any box. It was a box that dead people are supposed to rest in. I didn't want it, but Toshiro's guardian forced me to stay in the box while he slept in it. He wanted me to sleep in it, but I refused. Toshiro's guardian wanted me to do lots of things which I didn't like. He wanted me to eat blood. That is just plain gross. I don't know how Toshiro can handle it.

One of the nights I was with Toshiro's guardian, I thought of Torin. I said how Torin loves the stars, and the man was mean again. He said Torin killed him. It was weird, but he said that Torin didn't desurf deserve friends and how he hated Torin. I didn't like Toshiro's guardian most for that. It isn't good to lie. Torin is my best friend, he won't ever do something like that.

I didn't sleep. One day Toshiro's guardian seemed to get all worried about me. I don't remember why though. However, he did rub my back. It felt good. It is strange, but I don't remember much after that. I remember being in Toshiro's arms again, him taking me home, this time without getting all funny on me. Rufus wasn't with me. That made me sad. It hurt so much that Rufus wasn't there, but I guess that is because I am fallen in love with him.

After that, I was taken home. Toshiro remained with me and insisted I fall asleep. I don't want to go to sleep ever again. Ophelia was a bad girl for falling asleep, she won't do it anymore.

Yet Ophelia didn't mind going to sleep when Toshiro promised to stay awake and make certain nobody took me away. I like Toshiro, I don't like his guardian.

I woke up and Mommy was here and Rufus was in my arms. Toshiro had gone home, but Mommy said he only left after she was able to watch over me. Blazen was here too.

I wonder where he is now?

Night Terrors

Ophelia toddled over to the edge of the couch and waved from there. She remained standing in that spot for a while, watching as her friend actually left the shop. Once the boy had left, a question from behind arose.

"...isn't it past your bedtime sweetie?"

Shaking her head in a persistant manner, Ophelia insisted "I am not tired! I will stay awake tonight!" It was a blatant lie that she wasn't tired, especially after such a fun day. Yet the child had it set in her mind that she would not go to sleep.

Sighing deeply, the cat demon floated over to her child who remained at the edge of the couch. With the extreme care she used only for her daughter, she lifted the child up in her arms. "...Ophelia... it makes your Mommy sad that you would lie to her like that..." The statement seemed to hold full truth, for the golden slitted eyes which usually held so much life and laughter in them had dulled with the shine of tears.

Ophelia could feel the slight burden on her mother's heart. She had only felt such a similar pain one time before, when her mother thought of the one deemed as "Daddy."

"...Mommy...? What is lying?"

"...sweet Ophelia... do you not know what truth is?"

A small shake of the head and bobbing of the curls was what Manx received from the child.

Sighing even deeper, the cat demon did her best to explain what the difference between the two was.

"...truth... it is what you say that is correct. Telling all that needs to be told when asked of it. ...lying... it is the opposite of truth. You tell false answers instead of the correct one. It is considered bad to lie Ophelia... if you cannot tell your own mother the truth... then how can you tell your friends the truth?"

Glancing down to the Reliquiant, she examined the ebony eyes for understanding.

It seemed that Ophelia more than understood what she had done wrong. Her doll's eyes had begun to drip lightly of salty tears.

"...Mommy... Ophelia... Ophelia was bad..." Rubbing her face into the bosom of the cat demon, she attempted to wipe away the tears.

Manx's clawed hand gently moved to touch upon her daughter's head and lightly petted the dark curls. "...if Ophelia didn't know it was wrong... Mommy won't hold it against her, precious girl..."

Her head still pressed deeply into the demon's bosom, Ophelia began to blubber. She began to tell all that she felt, all her current fears, how much she missed her Mommy and friends. There weren't any secrets as to how the child felt during her whole time away. Nor were there any secrets as to why she was now afraid of a few things. How she was afraid of going outside, how she was afraid of going to sleep for several reason, and how she never wanted to leave her friends again.

Petting the child while Ophelia emotionally spewed out all her heart wanted to share, Manx waited for a bit of silence, which was only given after the child finished her explanation and went to merely crying into her chest.

"...Ophelia... Mommy... she won't let that happen again... never ever again... Mommy will protect you. I... I want you to be able to sleep... not only me... but Torin... he's worried about you as well... he told me that he doesn't want you to get sick..."

"...he told me that as well..." the child squeaked as her wings trembled lightly, as if they were tempted to flutter.

"...Mommy... she's going to watch over you every night when you go to sleep. If your fears ever go away... then Mommy will sleep with you as she did before. ...until then... Mommy shall watch over you." Slowly, her hand went to the child's shoulder and guided the child's face so it was looking at her. Her eyes never lied, and sincerity was written all over her expression.

"...Mommy..." The frail arms reached around the cat demon as much as they possibly could for a hug. "...Ophelia will be a good girl and go to sleep..."

Finally allowing a smile to creep upon her face, the cat demon floated her child over to the fur-square of a bed. "...that's a good girl, precious..." The Reliquiant was set down like a little treasure being added to one's hoard. With the child down, she randomly puffed into smoke and was once more in her kitten-like form. Curling herself about her child in a protective manner, she cooed "...go to sleep, Sweet Ophelia..."

The child went to sleep, nuzzling into the soft warmth of her mother's fur. Whatever dreams or nightmares which might have arrived would be chased away by Mommy, so all was safe.

Torin came to play! Torin came to play!!! It was fun, and I got to see Cirru again. Cirru is Torin's brother!

Mommy gave Ophelia a present, and she told me that Daddy's spirit is inside of it. It is a locket, it is pretty, but Mommy told me to not open it, or Daddy's spirit will escape. Mommy said that would be a bad thing, since Daddy wants to stay with me and protect me. I cried because I was happy Daddy wanted to stay with me. I showed Torin my present when he came over, but I made sure to tell him to be careful with it and to not open the locket.

Torin is a good friend. He walked with me out from home... outside... and he made sure nothing bad happened.

Later Torin's big brother showed up, and he was helping us to come up with a game to play, when a big doggy attacked my home. Doggy was mean... didn't like it. I cried again. I cry lots. Eventually doggy got off of my home and Miori showed up also.

I learned how to play a new game. It is called tag. Miori and I worked togither together and played against Torin and Cirru. Miori is fast, so she ran. I got to be the one who tagged the others. It was fun, but Miori got tired and wanted to take a break. Then I got to try and tag for myself. I managed to tag Torin. It was fun!

Then everyone left.

I don't like it when they leave. I don't know why, but it makes me sad. I wish Torin could stay forever and ever and ever, but I know his Mommy would miss him. Like my Mommy missed me when that mean man took me away...

Oh yeah! Mommy said she wants to play with my hair. She brought home all these ribbons the other day, and she said she wants to make Ophelia pretty with them. I don't mind, as long as they are soft!

Moving, moving, moving! Mommy and I moved! We didn't get a choice in the matter though. Big people began to move things from the shop, and then they picked up my home and began to carry it to a big truck.

Mommy, being the good Mommy she is, she picked up some of my friends and precious cranes and followed behind the big people. She went through the side of the truck and soon enough found my home.

It was then that Mommy told me that we would be moving! I asked her why we were moving, and she said that it was because the person who watched over the shop said we should. I don't know why the person who watches over the shop would think that, afterall, I was happy there!

Eventually the truck began to move, and soon enough the various other things and my home included began to move about. I wanted to stay home, so I ran to the best of my ability to keep under the couch. Rufus was in my arms the whole time, but one time he accidently tripped me. Rufus apologized later about it, but then, he tripped me and I fell down. It was a good thing Mommy was watching, for she managed to scoop me up before a nearby chair could squish me. I didn't want to be squished, so I am glad she got to me in time.

When all the things in the truck, including my home, stopped moving, I knew we had arrived. Like before, the big men came in and started to move things. When my home was taken up, Mommy picked me, my friends, and my cranes up and followed them inside. When my home was set down, Mommy snuck me underneath it again and set all the stuff down.

Mommy then told me she would go get all the other things we left behind and would return shortly. I nodded and decided to keep myself occupied by counting my cranes. I have made lots of cranes since I last wrote. I have now 536 cranes. I am more than halfway done!

Mommy has made three trips, and she managed to bring everything back here now! I wonder if Torin will know that I have moved or not?

Time to Bloom

With a light squeak of a yawn, the phantom obsidian Reliquiant awoke upon her small bed of false animal fur. She was still a bit sleepy, so she snuggled her face into the soft fur while clinging tightly to her best friend which loyally remained hugging into her arms. Mommy had been rather insistant upon the girl wearing ribbons in her hair of recent, for as Mommy said: "They make you look pretty, my precious child!"

Having fallen asleep the evening prior before Mommy had even returned, the figure had a nice crisp blue ribbon tied in her hair. Finally waking up enough to seat herself upright, her antennae twitched. Mommy was no longer at her side, but at least she seemed to be close by, for the cat demon remained in kitten form, gazing out towards the world outside the darkness of the couch's belly.

Standing up onto her slightly longer legs (though she had yet to realize such), she toddled over to her mother's side. "...Mommy... I'm hungry... can we eat lunch early?"

The cat demon would turn about to answer her child, but then she noticed something. Her child had been quite tiny prior, but she herself was a small creature, so easily noticed the difference. Her maw gaped open slightly for a bit as she then stated the obvious:

"...Ophelia... I think you grew..."

Still with the same innocent expression which usually dawdled upon her sweet features, Ophelia asked "...grew...? Why would Ophelia want to do something silly like that?" Certainly, her body had grown, but her heart still remained as loving and carefree as the child she always would be. Her thin arms still clung onto Rufus' plush body, seeking some sort of comfort perhaps from the shock of the idea of having grown.

A small burst of smoke and a slightly more humanesque version of the cat demon emerged, scooping up her still rather tiny child. Though the girl was bigger, she was still able to rock her gently in her arms.

"...My dear precious child... growing is something natural... like flowers!"

Not quite understanding the obviously superior logic which her mother had, the Reliquiant looked to her mother, ebony eyes wide open.

Noting the look she was getting with her own golden slitted eyes, she'd then continue:

"...flowers don't need a reason to be... they just are. Nobody asks why flowers bloom when or where they do, or what their purpose is. Flowers bloom where it is right for them, no reason needed. My dear precious child, you have bloomed..."

Leaning down, she'd give her daughter a small kiss to the head, extremely careful to not harm the girl's extremely sensitive antennae.

A big smile was upon the teen's face, her childish giggles bubbling up softly until the area beneath the couch seemed to echo the sound all around. Ophelia definitely liked the comparison.

"Ophelia is a flower!" she stated, her grin not seeming to tire.

With that, she smooshed Rufus into her mother's bosom as she then gave her Mommy a grand hug.

Purring softly, Manx nodded her head and whispered "...you are my precious flower, Ophelia... never forget that..."

One day, Ophelia is by herself, the next day, lots of others come to visit and make it so she is no longer by herself. It is so strange how things went!!

Torin came to play, and he grew as well, though he grew more bigger than me. It isn't fair! I ate all my vegetables, and I still am small! Torin on the other hand, is really, REALLY big!! It's like he is two whole inches taller than me!

Torin also got hurt since last time I saw him. He showed me an icky scar he had on his shoulder. I didn't like that. It made me sad. I don't want my friends to be hurt.

We went outside, Torin and me! He made certain nothing bad happened while we were out. We went into a new room, and it was dark. I didn't like it, but nothing bad happened, so I guess it isn't that bad.

We went back to my home, and soon enough, Mommy came home! Mommy said she had a surprise for me, but it was waiting outside. I didn't want to go at first, but Torin went with me, so everything was all right.

Mommy got me a pet! Mommy said it was a fairy dragon. Her name is Ebony, and she is nice. She has antennae like me, and she's got really pretty wings. Ebony is bigger than me too. Everyone is bigger than Ophelia. Ophelia and Ebony got to meet each other using our antennae. That was fun, I like that!

Mommy said Ebony was tired, so we went back home and let Ebony rest. Torin and I sat down, and Mommy wandered off again. Mommy came back shouting stuff out, so me and Torin had to go look. Mommy found two more to join us. Another fairy dragon who is named Azel and talks, and Daikenkai, my cousin! Daikenkai didn't seem to be doing all too good either. I thought he was hurt, and that made me sad again.

Mommy took Daikenkai up in her arms, then set him nicely in my bed to rest. Mommy then talked to Azel about what happened, and all he could say was his name and Daikenkai's, and tell us he wasn't allowed to tell of where he came from and what happened. Torin checked up on Daikenkai, but I don't know if he found anything.

Mommy then shooed Torin away. I don't know why, but she did. She said "the more the merrier" to Azel, yet told Torin to go home. Mommy seemed mean, but she said she didn't want Torin's mommy to get worried about him. Torin went home, then I talked with Mommy.

Mommy said that Daikenkai would be staying with us for a long time it would seem. She said she thought he was really tired, so he would need rest. I asked Mommy where I would sleep, and Mommy said that I couldn't sleep on my bed. It's MY bed!!! Why can't Daikenkai and Ophelia share the bed together? Mommy said no, and Mommy said that I would sleep with her at night.

I went to sleep then, and Mommy turned into a kitty. I knew her fur was warm, but I didn't know it was nearly as warm as my bed!

When we woke up, Mommy didn't seem to remember how many others we had there. It was funny to see Mommy look surprised. Mommy then told me that whenever she was not home, I was responsible for Daikenkai. She said I was supposed to watch over him, and if he woke up, to go ahead and do what I could to be helpful and make him feel better.

Mommy went off a while ago to get food for all of our new friends. Right now I am in front of Daikenkai and watching over him as Mommy said to. I think I will fold some more cranes to pass the time. I want to get to 1000 soon. Then I will be able to make my wish come true!
