A lot of "average" people seem to think that I'm a stripper or some goth/industrial hooker. They try to prevent me from going to clubs or convince me to get a "normal" job. They dont like my short short skirts or fishnets, even though during the day I usually look like a guy...or on my half-assed days I look like a tomboy.

I'm 5'10, but my daily wear shoes have a 3.5"/4" platform. I like being tall, I like wearing big shoes, the problem is when I go after guys who are 5'8 (ish, give or take...) most of the time they don't want to be with a girl who is consistently 6 inches taller than them, even if in reality I'm only about 2 inches taller.

Unless you are a midget or 7 feet tall, then its obvious you aren't the same height and things get awkward.

@Shubultz: Ah.
I don't know how you can wear shoes with a 3.5 inch platform, I'd kill myself in those. I hate platform shows/boots.

I've worn them pretty much every day since October and wearing them to shows/work for a year and a half. I function better in them than in flats. Hell, I even dance in them...and I mean actually dance, not just shuffle. 3nodding

The main thing is that I don't have Demonias (uncomfortable as s**t and break after a month or so). I've got 2 pairs of Swears.

I still don't think I could do it, let alone dance.

My boots are made by Demonias, but they are one of the few well made ones by them. I've had them for three years and they still seem brand new aside from a few scuffs on the toes.

My Demonias didn't hold up at all, not to mention that they were really uncomfortable. My feet would hurt really bad after even just an hour of wearing them. I can wear my Swears on an 16 hour day with only the regular "I was on my feet for 16 hours" aches.

I'm glad your Demonias are holding up though. Many of my friends who have older pairs that are starting to break over the last couple of months.

I've worn my boots for two days straight once, I don't know how I did it. I don't think I've heard of Swears, is it only a womens boot company?

Swear Alternative went out of business a couple of years ago. They still make "normal" shoes, but no more platforms or crazy sneakers. Both of the pairs I own were originally sold as men's/unisex shoes. They're REALLY clunky.

Oh, a few companies have done that, it makes me angry since most of them I enjoyed a lot more than the ones that stuck around.

@Son Of No Man: I meant two days straight as not taking them off once.

I was just thinking how awesome a business that had all goth/industrial strippers and hookers would be....

Not Only did I determine such a business would really awesome, I also thought others would feel the same, and drew up a business plan... I am gonna call my establishment The Gear Box...

I have a feeling it will be hard to find employees.
There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of goth/industrial style people in New England.
