Is Bob Avakian misleading potential allies?
Yes, he is nothing but a detriment
Not really, he's just a cultist, pure and simple
He is yes/no, but he aids by firing people up.
He's a puppet to the government acting out to destroy public opinion of communism further

Lord Comrade-X
Violence is an acceptable and probable way to overthrow the current hierarchy. Violence has been an acceptable way to solve political issues since the dawn of humanity. Although I do suppose the primitive hunter-gather tribalism could be exempt from this, but that age is long past. Mao said, "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun". Now I'm not a Maoist but I've got to agree with this. You want to enforce a law you've got to have a punishment for those who break said law. Now this could be something light like a fine or community service, or something much greater such as exile or death. Everyway you've still got to enforce it with the punishment. The government has a monopoly on force as well it should, because if it didn't then it would taken over by whatever group that had the most or biggest gun. This is what Marx meant by the dictatorship of the proletariat. The exploited become the new exploiters. The workers create a government that deprives the bourgeoisie class of so called "rights" and "Freedoms" in order to safeguard the revolution. I mean really could you just imagine what would happen if the Bolsheviks let the remains of the Czarist forces and the Provisional Government do whatever they felt like. Or if they hadn't violently risen up at all?

As for peaceful reforms or peaceful revolutions (I know our current bourgeoisie society has contradictions in it but this is just double plus ungood.) they tend to be limited to small reforms. Also they usually take a longer amount of time I mean everyone talks about the successes of the civil rights movement but Plessy V. Fergusuon was decided in 1896 and the civil rights act was passed in 1964. Yeah 68 years of non-violent struggle........... This is our best hope? You know I'm probably being too generous here considering race relations before 1896 and after 1964 but I think the point is clear. You can't just expect people to roll over as you threaten their interests and ideology. They're not going to play by your rules. If you don't fire back they will gun you down with even batting an eyelash. If you organize a march they'll organize a firing squad. You organize a sit in they organize a raid. You call a strike they call the Pinkertons. People won't just sit around and get at shot at no matter how pleasing an idea is. They have to a chance to fight back, to not just be martyrs that you can use in a speech about how the capitalists are violating rights.

The Paris Commune was destroyed because it didn't exercise its full force. It didn't go after Versailles; it didn't take over France's national bank. There's not going to be just a general strike or some great enlightenment that will immediate dismantlement the old society. A new state will need to rise up and defend the gains of the workers. Even if you do get a majority of the population to agree with you it won't matter. Unless they have planes, tanks, bombs, and guns to defend themselves they'll end up being chewed up and spit by the military industrial complex.

If this comes out as just a long rant I apologize. But I'm really just tired of this pacifist attitude that everything will be rainbows and happiness as long as we don't incite violence. These petty morals hold violence as some kind of poison that infects everything it touches. It ignores the tactical and dialectic nature of violence and simply engages in moralizing humanist bullshit.

When I heard "when Mao said" I started thinking of Bob Avakian, having watched him for 13 some hours of video footage and all...

Violence, the surefire way change things, tried and true, be a bigger dictator, oppressor, violent asswhole, and you win in the clash of ideals, this is true. However, there are people who do not wish to uphold the government but are in it's service that you will be gunning down, too. Potential communists who're on the wrong side of the fence due merely to circumstance, and due to those circumstances, will be legally compelled to kill you. I suppose all you can do with you system is kill everything that stands up, or is forced to stand up, against you. I still do not support violence, I don't. If a revolution were to happen, I'd grab a rifle and start combing the streets, taking up any able bodied revolutionaire I could, I've got the military training, I know how to clear buildings, and to kill. I suppose I was merely feeling regret for what must be done. I regret that so many will have to die for a new way of life...

I could train how to shoot, how to move, to to clear, fight, and kill. But I feel it'd be a burden I'd carry for a long time, should I live to realize with my comrades a new world. I'm not really opposed to the violence per se as much as it is the resulting death from the violence. The lines of friend and foe will be blurred, walking and marching in squad units through the city streets, killing every man of authority we could find via guerilla tactics. It is exciting, however. I had always wanted to go to war in my lifetime, the Marines wouldn't let me go for whatever reason, but this may provide me the chance to lead and to teach. I only hope if it happens, it's during my lifetime, and I still am able bodied enough to partake in it.

It may be a bit hard for me though, staring at you with those cute things and gunning down bourgeoisie at the same time. But damned if it wouldn't be a sexy revolution. We make all are men wear them. "we're the 'armed to the teeth, kevlar sporting, cat eared neko army of communism in America' and don't you forget it" ... Fox news lulling everyone into fear with pictures of the Cat eared neko commies holding up banks and the like.

EDIT: Women, too. I still use men to mean "collective group of people"

Baka. That assumes you march at them and demand rights. Just drop it. Use the strategies behind tai chi and use their momentum against them. They bombard us with media spin and fear and a sense of need for their economic system. If we step into it and punch at it head on, we stand no chance. If we simply sidestep it, it lands in a heap and breaks itself for us.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the Commune died because Adolph Thiers negotiated for Bismarck to send French and Prussian troops to forcibly shut it down, and that the proles were brutally outnumbered and overpowered...

I'd personally like to try firing a garand, I hear they were fairly reliable and accurate for their time. Also, a Tommy gun, heehee, so I can storm Normandy irl.

I am really partial to shoulder fired weapons. Anything but a shoulder fired weapon, I dun want it... I want a 240 G, those things are pretty fast with how they churn out bodies... machine guns are sexy.

I don't know any of these shitty modern weapons you're talking about. I only study as far as WWII in terms of firearms.

But American-made guns of that time were pretty shitty. Garands were godawful. Poor accuracy, poor penetration, and very slow for a semi-auto. The type-5 their Japanese enemies held would put three holes in a yankee before he could put out a second round.

Hey zed, u were in the military, I heard that the military is letting soilders buy their own weapons to use as opposed to the GI weapon M4A1. Alot of ppl are buying Aks because the sand in the desert doesnt jam them like the American guns.

Also Im rather fond of WW1 era warfare, something about trenches, bayonet rifles, massive feild artilery, 20 man tanks, and poison gas really facinate me.

But would you really want to fight that way?

I'm fascinated by WWII in an "I'd fight like that" way.
