Jay, again, not wanting to miss a chance of making aquaintence with someone new, says, "Hey," and gives a toothy grin, "you two hungry?" He just realized he hadn't eaten anything besides berries in a few days.

"Maaaybe, watcha got?" Mai asked, before falling from her perch and landing lightly on her feet.
She spoke to Jay without taking her eyes off Lorelei's hand, her curiosity over the cut not yet satisfied. "Lemme seee!" She demanded in the fashion a child demands a treat from her parents as she reached for the woman's pale hand.
"Who cut ya?" She said, her attention switching to Jay after the question. "Did you cut her? Why'd you do that?"

Lorelei twitched. Berries? In the woods? Wasn't there a town of some sort just nearby? And what was this monkey girl? Why were they here? Why was she even still here? She had no further business in these godforsaken woods.
She ran a few explanations for the cut in her mind. "I grabbed the knife by the wrong side," or "It was a thorn," or maybe "The witch did it?"
She gritted her teeth. No, why not just tell them the truth? If it caused problems in the future, well...
The entire reason she was there was to deal with problems, wasn't it?
"This cut on my hand..." she started

Jay jumps in, trying to hurry it up. "Nah, she cut it playin in the dirt...I know a good place about a mile from here, I can get whatever you want, no charge." His stomach is aching just thinking about the big ole turkey leg and corn on the cob. Then it hits him, "Why are you here?" he asks the whinning girl.

"Me?" Mai pointed to herself as she asked, "I wanted to see if you guys were doing something fun"
Finding Jay's explanation of Lorelei's cut uninteresting Mai turned turned her attention to the offer of food. "Where's the free food at?"

"Bout a mile that way," points deeper into the woods. "It's very hole in the wall." Laughs at himself and begins walking in said direction.

And with that, she'd had enough. She placed her cut hand on the bark of the nearest tree, and muttering a phrase in demonic. The bark around where she'd placed her hand glowed a faint pink, before erupting in spiritual fire. The pink fiery balls tore from the tree and floated upward, dissipating and looking not unlike an eerie fireworks display. The tree presently expired, and stood black and shriveled, as if struck by a harsh winter.
"I'm not terribly hungry." Lorelei said, walking purposefully in the other direction.

"Ooh ooh! I can do that too!" Mai said excitedly before slapping her hand against a tree and causing a flame to catch under her hand. "See?"

Jay is a little annoyed at the fact that his new pals are killing the forest, but, waits to find out what they're going to do about the food sitch. He assumes that Lorelei isn't coming. He stops and stares.

Mai grinned and turned to see Jay's reaction. He seemed less pleased than herself. "What's wrong? You can't do it?" She asked genuinely, leaving the tree burning behind her.

Lorelei turns at the spellcast.
"I see there was more to you than I thought..."
She carefully analyzed the obnoxious girl. She didn't sense a hint of noble blood in her, but what was there she couldn't place. She certainly was no wanna-be mage...
"I shall have to ask... About you."
And she turned her attention to Jay. This man for certain was a normal human. Normal, at least in turns of magic heritage. Now for sure he'd witenessed two overtly magical actions and not so much as whispered a "wow." That, as well as the fact he seemed to be living out in the wilderness, made him an "exception," as well.
She hesitated - Perhaps accompanying the two wouldn't be unbearable, for now. At the very least, if the man knew this forest, he may know the witch, and this girl herself could be useful.
Or, if it came to it, another scratch on on the binding of her old tome.

Jay shrugs, "What do you want to know? I grew up fending for myself. Met this creature," motions towards Zack, who has been patiently at his side, "done a lot of amazing things, met a lot of amazing people, not all human as myself. And here I stand. Now, do you want some eats or not?"

Looking up at this Jay fellow, she was a little irritated that he seemed to know what was on her mind, either that or the question she meant for the girl was interpreted as him.
But the comment about "not all human as himself" was the answer she wanted to hear when she did get around to him.
"I... I'm not much for food, but I will accompany you for a time. I wish to know more about these... non-humans."
"And the girl too," she thought to herself.

Jay nods, "Sounds like a plan," he heads off again, "as I was saying...this way." Zack snorts and follows along side of Jay.
