Utena's sort of like that, right?

I've always thought the whole "woman prince" thing was hot. X3
So yes.

Well...sort of. I think Utena's plot was more along the lines of 'can one overcome the boundaries of gender to live a lifestyle of their choosing' or some such, but that might be reading too far into it.
'Woman princes' are totally hot. I agree wholeheartedly.
I think it's just something in a name that denotes a different type of image, thus, Utena running around declaring herself a princess wouldn't be the same as her running around declaring herself a prince. Different mental images, that one... o_O;;;
It's kind of like this one part in a teen fantasy novel Dealing with Dragons: the dragon who is female is competing to be the next king of the dragons, and when questioned about it, simply stated "The queen of the dragons is an entirely different role. Why would I want to do that?"
Implying that the title of the position was really all it was, without a gender being assigned to it. Ambiguous? I like that idea.

I really hate the whole damsel in distress kinda female character. I find that many females are much more capable in stressful situations then men, so it really should be the other way around. Haha. But I wouldn't mind if it was a strong girl rescuing her troubled girlfriend. ><

Broken down into its basic parts, damsel in distress is just a basic theme that is one of thousands of other used themes in novels. Basically, just about any story can be summed up in one sentence. I know this, because the majority of the time in order for something to be pitched, you have to sum it up in one sentence. Yes, it's a horrible thing for writers to think about. However, it is absurdly effective in letting the creator know if they have a coherent enough story that make have market potential. So saying that it's a cliche idea may be what it is when taken at face value, the actual story itself may take a lot of cliches and turn them on their heads, the foremost one being where the hero of the story is female, and their goal in the story is to acquire/save their significant other, who is also a female.
It could potentially work. If I get off my lazy bum and write something, I could maybe possibly prove it to you. ^_~ Or at least, point at other stories somewhere that also prove to be better examples as well. Mrrrf. Unless it's just not your cup of tea. Then, there's just about nothing I can say to something like that, other than, "Ah."

I would totally read and/or watch it ..if there where no weird het story line in it.

I'm tired of reading story lines that is projected as lesbian but then is suddenly hetro!

Like I remember this one magna that had a girl fall for a girl ,that look like a guy.But she didn't care, it was so cute how the girl would chase the other girl, then at the end sudden;y she see's how worung everything is and that she's really in love with her best friend...who is a boy...ugggh.Come on give me some yuri!!

P.s- VVV still kinda gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

It would depend on the plot of the story and the characters themselves

I think they've done that already. They've even done the opposite where the girl saves the guy

I would totally support it. I'm bored of seeing "man princes" in shiny armor, a golden crown on head and a gay red puffer sleeve "blouse" to top it off. Well, for royalty back then, it wasn't really gay, but you gotta admit, you wouldn't catch any normal guy dead wearing that. xd
