Tiffany looked to Andy and Andy lowered himself so that Tiffany could ride him.
They then leaped off of the mountains and into the jungle.

Inside the forest had a river running, contining to the north where there were even more trees. Blocking the path was an aligator, which swam south to the group.
It climbed onto land and with surprising speed, ran up to the group. It said "So, what brings a group like you here? to these parts?" It had a glint in its eye; it was obvious the group would be able to leave here yet.

Seiko sighed as she watched the others continue past her without a passing word. Yuuki looked at her and yipped telling her to cheer up. Seiko nodded and continued to walk as well with Yuuki beside her deeper into the forest.
Within the forest, she found the others again and it was then that they came to a river and an alligator approached them. Seiko watched the speed of the beast and quickly calculate that it would be difficult for anyone, even a cheetah, to outrun him. Yuuki recognized the glint within the eyes and quickly became defensive. Always better to be safe than sorry. Seiko nodded to the thought and spoke slowly, carefully choosing her words. "We're just a group of travelers." she spoke unsure whether this beast may be an enemy or allie, "We wandered into the forest seeking the town on the other side."

The creature looked at the group. "So, you're with companions, aren't you? Thinking you can help this drying place? So be it. I can tell you where the town is, but you need to do something for me... well, for lots of folk around here."

Seiko nodded and swallowed gathering up her courage and knowledge of what she should do. "We're listening." "But that doesn't mean we'll accept." Yuuki cut in to make sure Seiko did not get herself bound to the fulfill the request.

Serena looked Anubis who looked back at her. He had jumped in front of her ready to protect her. Serena nodded at the aligator "What is it that you need our help with?""Be careful Serena, you can't trust everyone." Anubis said with a low growl.

The alligator laughed. "You really think I'd eat just anyone who passes by? That fox is a threat for sure." Looking upwards, he continued "There's this dumb rat somewhere around here that protects a small box. It's large, and black with red eyes. Little demon, he is. That box is important to the creatures around here, and it's hard to describe the item itself."
Suddenly, an owl hooted. "So... you all are going to find the rat? Last I heard... and saw, it's just west from here, deeper into the forest."
The alligator grinned "So, you couldn't hunt it down, eh? See? It's too darn smart for us."

Yuuki growled at the comment, but let it pass as she listened to what the task intailed. Seiko sighed, but figured it would be perfect training for her and Yuuki to understand each other better. "We accept." Seiko nodded and spoke before Yuuki could protest or think of rational reasons why not to. Yuuki sighed, but understood Seiko's reasons for accepting. "You said it was west from here, correct?"

The aligator said "Yes, west. Ah, I see why it's there... the great oak tree... how fitting. A rat behaving like a squirrel, driving them out of their homes..."
He cursed about the rat, and the owl said "It's not worth it, even though I really want to curse the thing to death, too..." He looked at the group. "I apologize. It's just that nearly everyone has been terrorized by it. It's pretty intelligent, and no one was smart enough to think of something to kill him and reclaim our box."

Anubis looked toward the west and looked back at the others. If they all worked together and come up with a plan then this could go easily. He may be wolf but he would rather work with others than go into something alone. He turned to Seiko and Yuuki "Would you like to work all together? Or would you like to do it on your own? It's up to you, I was just asking." He hoped they didn't think he thought them unworthy of doing the task themselves, he actually thought the two would be better them him and Serena. Serena nodded in aggrement with Anubis.

Seiko turned to look at the other two and then down at Yuuki. "They have different strengths than we do." Yuuki spoke with a sigh. Seiko understood the statement and nodded to the wolf Anubis. "Name's Seiko." she offered to Serena with a smile. "And this is Yuuki." she said with a glance at the fox who had already started to head west. "Let's move while we still can and catch this rat." Yuuki spoke with a down-to-buisness voice.

Going west, it was obvious the forest here used to be very beautiful. Now, flowers were either dired, or drying up, and trees started to wilter. The stronger ones stood firm, but who knows for how long? One tree stood in the middle of a small group of short trees, unable to grow tall because the great tree blocks the light. In the upper part of the trunk, there was a hole for what appeared to be where the squirrels sued to live. There was a flash of black as something scurried up the trunk and into the hole.

The small group headed West. "I'm Serena" she said smiling "and this is Anubis." she nodded to the wolf that walked beside her. Anubis growled as he saw the black flash scurry up the tree. "You saw that, right Yuuki?" Anubis asked just making sure. He didn't want to rush in if no one else was aware of it. They needed a plan before they lost what light was in the forest.

Yuuki nodded to Anubis. "So it does look like a rat..." Yuuki mused.
Seiko stepped forward slightly and looked around the now dead forest. "Is it the box that they want that cause this to happen?" she referred to the land. "If it is," she paused as she turned to look over at Serena. "How do we know if it can or can not do the same to us?" she cautiously asked, unsure of just what exactly what they were trying to retrieve.

The rat hissed, hearing others talking about him. He reappeared, but far up into the tree, staring down. "What do you lot want? Get out of here if you're just passerbys... or were you..." It paused, realizing what might have happened. "No! You're not getting this box! I'm on a mission with it, and you can see a small part of it's use. Of course, if I used it to its full potential..."
