Tell him that his car is unroadworthy and that it needs racing springs and shocks. 3nodding

In other news;

Yesterday after school I spent about an hour and $10 at the local car wash to get my truck nice and clean, (And try to remove that Gasoline smell). Soon after finishing, I went home and got bored.

Two hours, Three mudpits and a new dent later, it wasn't quite so clean anymore. blaugh

Yeah, then I tore out the nasty floor covering and the wood under it. It was already rotted out and falling apart, so I'll scrape the rest out this week sometime.

I solved the rear axle problems.

It seems that the lift blocks (which were just to adjust the pinion angle, and only provided about an inch of lift) were the wrong ones. They were offset, as if to fit a wider axle like a Dana 60 or something. So the leaf springs woundn't line up, and that caused the U bolts to loosen off and cause wicked alxewrap and bounce.

so I went to take a look at them today, and the driver side one had oblitered itself into about 5 peices. So I went to pull it out, and took about an hour because the Ubolt threads had started to stretch and cause difficulty for lack of power tools. When I finally got to the passenger side, I knew what I was doing and had it done in about 20 minutes. Then I found out the blocks were s**t and lo and behold, the springs lined up properly and they sat, you'll never guess, how they were suppsoted to. So now, It acclererates smoothly, doesn't bounce and skip and bind anymore, and now I am a happy camper.

But on the shakedown drive, the exuast downpipe came loose. Again. for the fifth time. At least, I hope that the knocking is just that, and not the valves or something ******** like that. If it is, I'll just buy a new engine, I can find a 302/351 runner for about $500 or another 300 6 for mabye $350 or so. Mabye I'll save my pennies and buy a 2001 Cobra-R Supercharged engine. ;D

So I'll be tightening s**t down again tomorrow, go to work, and then after school tomorrow tighten s**t down, AGAIN.

just double up on the downpipe nuts.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:13 pm

Well, I tightened up the exaust downpipe easy. It was only about a half turn loosened, enough to cause a little leak and not much more.

The knocking is a spun bearing. evil I am a pissed driver today, because I just got everything almost working well together. Now I have to pull the engine out, and tear apart the bottom end, and see what is ******** up and if I can repair it for cheap.

you spun a bearing on a 300? holy shmoley. anyways your prolly gonna need a new rod and a new crank, no way to fix after it spun. i know its not worth it.

just go to a junk yard and find an olllld t-bird or crown vic and get a 5.0 or bigger out of one of them. should be less than your 500 buck budget.
