Yeah... it really did piss me off. She was the only friend that I had here, and she dropped me like that. Didn't even call me for two weeks. stare But yeah, I understand what you mean.

I remember the old days.
No looking back, it'll never be the same.
We were few, and our cause pure.
Now we are many, and diluted we are.
Lukewarm we rise to fight,
half-hearted we march into battle.
Slain are we, fallen like the wheat of the field.
Left we fall, and right also.
Cut down like grain before the farmer's scythe.
Now we fall back, our backs broken and lashed.
We know defeat, and our ranks are again emptied.
Again we are few, and again, we grow strong.
Our cause in our hearts, we remain prideful in who we are.
Once again, we are what we set out to be...
Whole.

One shot, that's all you've got.
Opportunity knocks, that all you've got?
You better fight for your chance,
everyone else in this dance
of life would kill for your chance tonight.
Have you got what it takes to do what makes tonight?
Can't you take the pain inside? Put it aside,
It's your only option, failure is not.
This is the only shot you got.
Do you have what it takes? This makes or breaks
who we are, who we wanna be.
Do you got what it takes?
On the surface you look calm and ready,
but on inside it's war for yourself.
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime,
you got what it takes to make this world yours?
In your head they scream, the voices in your dream.
They rip your judgment in twain, all in vain.
You look to the left, to the right, and no longer know.
Do you got what it takes, to take this pain, and throw it all away?
Cast your burdens aside, no more places to hide.
This is your time to shine, take it all, or it'll be mine.
Don't waste this shot, it's all you got, better take it, or it'll be mine.
What's wrong with this world today? Children lost, can't find the way.
Lost in the storm of life, give 'em a shot, it's all they've got.
Offer them a hand, though they wouldn't understand.
What's the point in saying "we won," when you can barely say you know your own son?

Dante Deus
Fragile wings of the butterfly crushed.
A beautiful creature lays down to die.
In my hands I hold the fragile life,
holding close that which is dear.
Into it I breathe the breath of life,
and still it lies limp, unwilling to stand again.
I pour my soul into this creature.
My love, my friendship, my undying affection.
And still it lies limp, unwilling to breathe.
I give it everything I am,
give it hope, a reason to live.
And still it lies limp, unwilling to open its eyes.
I die for this creature,
sacrificing up my very life for it.
And still it lies limp, unwilling to live.
I pray for this soul, that it finds its way home.

This I dedicate to my friend Em. I've been trying so hard to help her through a rough time, but she seems so unwilling to let some things go...

Cool, I like the idea behind this it's very interesting, and the use of the butterfly...good imagery.

Thanks for the comment! It's greatly appreciated, though I must say the idea behind it isn't all that great... 'specially since the friend I dedicated it to doesn't even care to talk to me anymore after I saved her life almost six times in two ******** weeks... stare

I couldn't be there for you,
a million miles away.
Can't stand to be without you,
won't last another day.
Can't take it anymore,
let me take away your pain.
It cuts me to the core,
blood dripping like rain.
You've forgotten all about me,
I can't blame you though.
Death is slowly taking me
and onward you go.

You'd fallen to the side,
and I offered you my hand.
I left my heart opened wide,
but you didn't understand.

I tried to be your friend,
I fought to be there for you.
But I found out in the end,
you just wanted someone to jump hoops for you.
Just so you know,
I'd take a bullet
just so you wouldn't go.
Now you're done with it.
My heart is done with me.
I'm falling apart,
and you aren't here for me.
So I say goodbye to my heart.

You'd fallen to the side,
and I offered you my hand.
I left my heart opened wide,
but you didn't understand.

Journey of a Lost Soul

I’m so tired of all these lies,
keeping all of this inside.
Nothing left of me to live,
alright, alright, I give, I give.
If I’m gonna die, do it already.
I’m ready to go. I’m ready, I’m ready!
Take my heart from this pathetic frame.
Take this body and make it maim.
Take my soul and lead it ‘cross river Styx.
Hell awaits me, her flame licks
upon my face with white hot fire.
Give me all that I desire.
I live amongst the unforgiven,
I die within the hearts of children.
Eternal torment my desire.
At last I sleep now in the fire.
My soul taken from this place,
to wage a war on a dying race.
We’ll kill them all, if we can.
Every last child. Every last man.
Cut down every last filthy whore.
Chin up son, this is war!
Look at your women crying…
look at your young men dying…
How much longer must this go on?
These people are depending on
me, to win this fight, be their might.
Letting them down means losing right,
losing justice, losing light,
losing to eternal night.
For them alone I go on,
‘till everything inside me is gone.
No more feeling, no more pain.
No more love, no more gain.
It’s over now, I rest at last.
All that’s left is eternal past.
I close my eyes, laid to rest.
I’ve run my course, done my best.
Always more that I could do,
I would do it all for you.
To see your smile one last time,
I’d walk the earth, I’d cross the line.
Forever in my memory,
look at what you’ve done to me.
Once again I have a reason.
A reason for me, a reason for treason
to my eternal desire;
my desire to sleep in fire.
And yet, desire no more,
it’s not the same as before.
Now life holds for me a smile,
making life worth all the while.
They try and drag me down again,
grab my limbs and pull me then
I rip myself free, ready to fight.
I’ve a place in this world, I’ve seen the light.
They can’t take me now,
I’ll fight, I’ll win, I don’t know how.
Piece by piece, I’m torn apart.
All that’s left of me is my heart.
Strong again, it’s all for the one
that gave me reason, a rising sun.
The one that gave me tomorrow,
the one I gave my soul to borrow.
They can make me whole once more,
make a body from my stripped core.
Once again, I stand whole.
My body mine, my heart to control,
given thee by mine own hand.
Only you can understand.
Take it gentle, hold it true,
treat it right, and it’ll be there for you.
You know all this, I waste my breath,
you, who saved me from the hands of Death.
Thank you much, for what you’ve done.
Thank you much, my only one.

Good Bye

I guess it's time to say it.
I'll just say it.
Good bye.
Good bye.
Everything that I've done,
you've gone and undone.
Why'd you have to do it?
Why'd you go and do it?
Good bye.
Good bye.
What have you gone and done?
Every things coming undone.
Why's it so hard to say it?
Why can't you just say it?
Good bye.
Good bye.
Who said it couldn't be done?
The entire universe undone.
I can hear you pray it,
hear you say it,
Good bye.
Good bye.
Finally our course is done,
time for life undone.
I can hear you say it,
why'd you say it?
Good bye.
Good bye.

Okay, like I tolded ya already...I went to comment this and my internet screwed up THREE TIMES. And I lost my comments...so I've decided to come back and try again, although I think my first comments would have been better....

I love this. First off, I wanna mention how much the repeated part reminds me of Scars by Papa Roach. And that's prolly not a coincidence. It's very full of... anxiety? That's probably not the word for it. But the emotion I feel from it is reminiscent of sadness and helplessness. Makes me feel the same way I feel when I can't help someone, when I can't do anything for them, when I can't be what they need me to be. Real intense, at least for me. Rhyme is a great addition. Overall, very nice. XD

*glances back at the length* There's no way I'm quoting Journey of a Lost Soul, but still, I must comment fer ya. Hrrm, let's see...

I STILL feel like I read the beginning somewhere, probably in an insane dream, but anyways... (XD) This one is lovely. I LOVE the twist towards the middle. It's unexpected and a plus, creating a feeling of sadness in the beginning, despair, then uncertainty, before the reader gains hope and happiness as the narrator changes attitudes. Great stuff. I love the wordchoice, very vivid. Consistent rhyme, good flow, and very long, which is definitely you. Really good one.

I've only seen it in my dreams.
Watch its shimmers, watch its gleams.
I watch it beating in my hand.
I give it as yours to command.
Take the heart from this very chest.
Take it all, take the rest.
Take me, take me, dead or alive.
I need your touch, need you to thrive.
Life without you's an empty shell;
I'd rather spend forever in hell.
Burn me, cut me, bleed me, bite me.
Stab me, drown me, crucify me.
Take the life from this selfish fake.
My heart is yours, yours to break.
Throw my flesh unto the birds,
just first, speak the unspeakable words.
Tell me you love me, look into my eyes.
Then you can cut me, call me wise.
Watch me bleed, watch me cry.
It's all for you, for you I'll die.

I am flawed.
I am fallacy incarnate.
I am failure.
I am wrong.
I am fear.
I am he that falls short.
I am imperfect.
I am ignorant.
I am violence.
I am hate.
I am destruction.
I am death.
I am Man.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 25, 2007 9:13 am

It is like you recognize man as inherently bad/evil/negativity....as if you had a Legalistic view of humanity.
This is similar and yet not in my view of humanity. To me, we are all things...or at least hold the potential to be all things.

So what's up comrade?

Not me. Dude, I've slept so MUCH lately... I sleep almost 15 hours a day. >< anywho, time to write some more. Foggy mind + disturbed =

I scream, I shout
I force it all out.
I burst my lungs at the sky.
The one thing I treasure most in life
cannot be stripped away.
Mine forever, I made the sacrifice.
If I am wrong in this, I don't want to be right.
Emotions pound me, beating my bones.
The sickness eats at me,
the infection crawling through my veins.
It awakens the demon in me.
A heart so black, made ebony.
Years of hate unfurl,
demonic and evil.
Blood-curdling screams
scratch at my throat.
The crimson flow bursts forth
from my mouth.
My tongue wags, innumerable languages.
Spilling forth from me,
the blood, the speech, the pain.
And then, darkness.

Dunno how this one got past meh. But it did, and now after having read it, wow.

Really great. Makes me think of quantity versus quality, really. It's always better to have a handful of quality than a landful of half-a** [whatever the object is]. Not as long as what's usual of you. Love word choice, especially the sounds. Some lines rhyme internally, others adjacent, some not at all, and somehow it works. A story of passionate believers gaining ranks of others, losing those ranks to defeat...and coming back just a strong, just as true as they began, if not more so. I love it. Great work, Dante.

A man stands between two doors,
his face is sad, his frame sags.
Two doors, one on the left, the other on the right.
Above each one reads "end the world"
He holds two keys, each one unique.
He holds the one to the door on the left,
his hand trembles as the key slips into the lock.
With a rattle and a clank, the tumblers open,
and with a frail hand, he pushes the door to unveil this doom.

Darkness falls upon his eyes,
lightning streaks across the skies.
Thunder rolls into the night,
and suddenly a light so bright
erupts into the sky so blue,
a fiery red to replace its hue.
Glints of steel, stone, and sand.
This is where man will make his final stand.
Fire engulfs both armies quick,
a flaming maelstrom final p***k.
The world whithers 'neath violent fire,
this does not fancy the man's desire.
He slams the door, his chest pounding.
He can still hear the whirlwind rounding
the innocents of that fateful night.
And he turns to the door upon the right.

A war is faught inside his mind,
to stay inside this place unkind,
to watch the world meet its fate,
to know that he would be too late.
With shakey hand and unsound mind,
he opens the portal to watch unwind
the fateful end of a world so cold,
returning to the age of old.
The sky, she breaks violently in twain,
darkness falls like all that was sane.
An icy sheen covers the land,
all is still, no soul could command
the lifeless husks of what remained,
all that stood was still, was tamed.
The raging rivers looked of glass,
the mighty sea was tamed at last.
Still, serene, the world went on,
every life on earth was gone.
The Haven of Life, the tiny island,
joined the silence that spanned
the universe from fringe to edge,
joined the ranks, said the pledge.
Now Death's reign spread 'cross the land,
everything at his command.
The man ran, the door had gone,
and now it's he, who is alone.
