Emotions could betray him and offend the Koorime, especially since... he was surprised and not sure what to think.

"And it's not like you have a low count either.... You foxes probably have the most kids just because of... High seed count." Hiei commented, having to choose his words carefully. "Also... Kurama knew that to be true, but, to avoid possibly upsetting him, kept his mouth closed on the subject. He turned the dials on the stove to the 'off' position, making sure not to burn the food, and proceeded to come up behind the Koorime to embrace him tenderly.

"I have heard of children saying their first words at her age, but I doubt that she'll start walking for at least six months. Human children are different from demons... they mature more slowly, yet have a relatively short lifespan," Kurama stated, giving what information he could. Even if he had been brought up as a human, he did not quite know how it worked. Shiori would occasionally talk of how advanced her son was to friends, but to him, what he did seemed overly basic. The fox had never considered taking on the role of father, though he had, very obviously, had sex before. That is to say, Kurama never paid much attention to children and their development, figuring that the information was, to him, useless.

"I wouldn't suggest that. While it may help her to like me, Hoshiko may afterwards trust you less. If you hold her and are closer to me... maybe she will gradually become more familiar."
And, of course, Kurama wouldn't mind the closeness part.
