The Hero of Justice

PostPosted: Thu Apr 20, 2006 7:21 pm

Seeing the two bolts, Artes let himself drop to the ground, one leg extended out from under him, the under bent underneath, though he was still on his feet.

He lost the rock a little, about half a foot, but he regained the concentration.

Kreen follows with another bolt aimed for the elf's head, then continues into a bolt aimed for his feet. One more thing this boy must learn is that every motion has a consequence, and putting himself into a position which is difficult to move from could mean his end in battle.

He was able to lay flat enough to keep his head safe, but his foot was not saved, however and he fealt it burn from the electricity.

The rock dropped half its height this time, due to the pain and slight loss of concentration.

"Don't forget that every motion puts you somewhere else. If that somewhere else is a place you cannot move from, then you cannot evade attacks," Kreen says, pausing for a moment. Deciding that it is not quite time for moving on, he hurls another pair of bolts. This time one should hit between the elf's extended legs, while the other ought to strike him in the shoulder.

He drew his legs together and pushed back, leaping back and catching himself on his feet, sliding slightly. He caught the rock before it had fallen two inches, placing his gaze back on Kreen.

Kreen continues hurling spells, already sensing the toll that such use of power is taking on him. It is good that this boy learns quickly, or he would have to take a break in the middle of an exersize just to gather his energy. The next two shots of heat energy are aimed to hit one of Artes' feet, followed very closely by another aimed for his chest.

He leaps quickly to one side, getting out of the way of both in one move. Even this large action does not affect the rock's altitude this time, though it does wabble some, but is quickly settled back.

Kreen follows those two spells with another pair, one aimed to hit him in the chest when he lands. The other is aimed at where his feet should be after he evades the first of the two bolts in this round.

He landed in a dance like motion on one foot, pushing off again to avoid the two new bolts, making sure that he didn't have a chance to get hit by the old ones.

The rock dropped some, but he was getting the hang of this.

Can't have him getting too comfortable, Kreen thinks, abruptly firing off another pair of shots, for that will soon lead to complacency.
One of the two flies off to Artes' right, at shoulder level, while the other is aimed to go right next to his left foot. Meanwhile, he hurls a third bolt of heat directly at the elf's chest.

He saw the three shots coming after him and he dropped in a diagnol, getting under the top two, and far enough to the side of the bottom shot to be safe, but he fell on his side, unable to catch himself.

He got up onto his hands and was able to catch the rock before it plummetted into the ground. He then attempted to quickly stand up and get out of the prone position.

"You must concentrate on the enchantment and yourself, not yourself and then the stone," Kreen says, hurling another pair. This time, one flies at where Artes' foot is, while the other is aimed at his shoulder. Then, two more bolts fly from the Dying Breath's hands, one aimed at the elf's head and the other just off to the right.

With a quick decision, Artes did a swift leap and rolled to his right, dodging all four bolts and landing in a squatting position. All the while his mind constantly echoed, "Stone Stone Stone" as he tried to heed Kreen's words.

The stone did not falter at all. It had stayed perfectly still and aloft.

"You progress quickly. But this means so shall the training," Kreen says, the rippling of heat around his hands dissipating. This, however, is short-lived, as almost as soon as this is done it is replaced by an orb of flames. Still not enough to do any serious damage, but it looks impressive and is most certainly more powerful than the spell he was using earlier. It is also, as is now demonstrated as Kreen throws it at Artes' torso, rather faster than the first spell.

"Yaitah!"* Artes cries as he hastily leaped out of the way of the new bullet. He remembered half-way throught hat he needed to remember the stone and quickly got his mind around it. He was able to keep it aloft, though it faltered somewhat.

*Elvish 'curse' that comes to the meaning of "Oh my Goodness" or some such.
