"If you cannot concentrate when someone who has sworn that he will do no long-term damage to you is hurling cantrips at you, then you cannot concentrate when a hostile warrior is striking at you with a sword or returning fire with a bow. Try again," Kreen says, the air rippling around his hand once more.

Artes set his face in frustration. He hated it when other people were right and he had said something totaly stupid. He reached both arms out to the rock. "Levite" he yelled, enchanting the rock again and raising it to the same level as before.

Without another word, Kreen hurls the bolt of heat past Artes right arm, almost hitting it. It does, however, not do so, and should not even singe his clothing. It will, however, provide a rather excellent distraction. Which is exactly what the Dying Breath wants here.

He began to fumble to the side and let the rock drop, but he quickly caught himself. He knew he just had to block everything. It was like meditation, he just had to concentrate on one thing. The rock. He settled himself, keeping his feet firm on the ground, blocking out the rest of the world.

"Excellent, you learn already. But, you see, that will not always work," Kreen says now, hurling the underpowered bolt directly at Artes. While it will probably hit, thanks to the boy's concentration, it shouldn't do much in the way of damage at all. Maybe make him fall over from surprise, but not from actual hurt.

He had been able to block everything out, but he then fealt a giant punch into his chest. He fealt himself hurtle back and fall to the ground, knocking the wind out of him.
The rock fell back to the ground with a thud as Artes brought himself up, groaning. "K-Kreen... what was that?" He coughed. "You said that... Oh... You said no permanent harm... That's a mean trick!" His face was screwed up in anger.

"I said no long-term or permanent damage, but that it was unlikely that you would escape my training unharmed. I have done nothing wrong. Further, if you cannot evade my attack, then you cannot evade an arrow or a blade. In combat, this will be fatal. Try again," Kreen says, gathering another bolt of heat.

He set himself again, his face now turned to Kreen, eyes keen on his next move. He put his arms outstretched again, and prepared his mind. "Levite" The rock levitated again, a little more difficult this time since Artes had to keep aware of all things visual.

Once more, Kreen hurls the bolt of heat at Artes. However, instead of aiming to hit as would be expected. Instead, the bolt of heat is aimed to slam into the ground at the boy's feet. This ought to produce a wave of heat and provide a new and totally unexpected distraction.

He leapt back on instict this time. He nearly fumbled the rock, but managed to catch it before it fell, keeping his eyes still trained on Kreen's movements.

"Mm...better," Kreen says, hurling another bolt. This one is supposed to almost hit Artes' hair, but not quite. It will not be long at this rate before he can move on to more difficult exercises, such as multiple bolts.

He moved his head aside, saving his beautiful locks of hair from singing. The rock only dropped about two inches this time. He kept his focus, bringing his gaze right back to Kreen after the bolt passed.

"You progress more quickly than I anticipated. Let us move on," Kreen says, hurling a bolt that will hit the ground again. However, this bolt is immediately followed by another which flies directly at Artes' chest.

He was about to jump back but once he saw the next bolt he tried to move to the side. It hit him square in his right shoulder as he tried to swing around.
The rock fell low to the ground, but with sheer will he kept it aloft only centimeters from the stone floor.

Without another word, Kreen hurls a second pair of bolts. The first is supposed to go slightly off to one side, while the other is to go off to the other just slightly after. The idea is to get him to move too far out of the path of one attack and into the path of another. In actuality, this is an excellent chance for the elf to learn how to dodge, as well as concentration.
