Kreen gazes across the room at his elven companion, wondering and at the same time knowing exactly what he's thinking about. He silently replaces each weapon, careful and reverent with each of his eight blades as he stows them. When he finishes, he leans back against the wall and begins to meditate, considering what has happened along with that strange emotion he felt back in Lady Mirage's chamber. It needs a name, and once he names it he will know it. He gets the feeling that it is one he will feel often in the future.

Dran eyed the unlikely duo steadily as he took in the strange suggestion. On the surface the notion was patently ridiculous. Stay with a complete stranger and his giant reptilian friend?. However, the strange twoesome might also be the best way of discovering what had happened to his companions. In any case, there was little to hold him here.

"That sounds intriguing," he responded at last. "Perhaps we can discuss it further after viewing the body. This way then."

Turning abruptly he began to lope with easy ground-covering strides back towards the clearing where he had been attacked.

I hope the body is still there, this could be rather embarassing otherwise...

Zeal was quite aware of the apparant lack of a rational reason for the invitation but it was far more logical when one considered how badly out matched this fae would be once he was isolated on a mountain in the middle of the Silver Sea. Also, that would be a perfect place to find out if he was trustworthy or not. If he isn't trustworthy then he will be a test for Kreen and Artes. Maybe Rath would be of use then as well. In any case, the body must be viewed in order for thoroughness to be maintained. His gaze remained steady and he did not bother answering verbally. He simply matched the pace that the fae set, noting that most fae would not have the physical condition necessary to do this. Most unusual... he feels... bigger than he looks as well.

Valden followed Zeal by lengthening his stride. His steps were far from stealthy but they were still quieter than one would expect from a creature of his size. Predators have their ways. We seem to be retracing our steps. I am puzzled... have my kind been so forgotten among the fae? Of all the races I would have expected them to hold our existance in memory.

Valden and Zeal shared their thoughts and feelings. Both were in doubt as to the character of this rather odd fae. Of course, Zeal had little personal experience with them but Valden had known several who were then quite mature. For the young to be so ignorant was saddening. The distance back to the site of the explosion did not take very long, even on foot, as none of the three had difficulty maintaining such an easy pace.

Perhaps an hour later the group arrived in the ash-strewn clearing. From there it was but a short distance to the clearing where the body lay. Once they had arrived in the clearing Dran waved a hand in the general direction of the body and seated himself on a nearby stone.

The man's body lay, head cocked at an unnatural angle against the rock that had ended his life so abruptly. His armor was simple but in good condition, no rust or other signs of neglect. The general muscle tone was also good, and his hair was cut professionally short. The eyes were tightly closed.

Dran shifted his position slightly to get more comfortable as he observed the scene and its other viewers.

Once the hour had passed, Artes fluttered his eyes open. He sat up, still a little groggy. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and looked around. He saw that Kreen had barely moved since he fell asleep.

He fealt a little achey from falling asleep in his clothes, and he still was not used to the hard stone of the bed. He got up and stretched a little, trying to work out a kink in his shoulder from the hardness of the bed and awkward position that he ended up sleeping in.

Kreen's eyes snap open, the motion of the awakening elf alerting him to his surroundings. He, too, slowly rises from his seat on the bed, stretching slightly as he drops off the bed. He pauses a moment to readjust his equipment, then steps out of the room with a silent nod to Artes on his way to the cliff. Once there, he does what he seems to be doing rather often lately: stand and watch the horizon, basking in the peace of nature and the warm sunlight as he hasn't had time to do in years.

Artes gathered himself, removing another layer of his garment, as he seemed to find himself needing less and less in this warm climate. He came up to where Kreen was and stood, dutifully silent. Waiting for instruction.

He couldn't help but look towards the sunset. Nature's beauty is something unmatched by anything else. What a sight from this place.

Kreen slowly turns his gaze toward Artes, being forced to look upward at him in order to see his face thanks to his Fae status. Never let it be said that his people are tall.
His gaze then moves back to the horizon, pausing for a moment before he speaks. "Elves and Fae use two very different magic techniques. My people have leaned to project our abilities outward, manipulating the world around us in ways that brute force cannot do. Your people have focused on projecting their abilities inward, to objects and even to themselves, allowing them to perform similar feats. However, there remain a number of parallels. I cannot claim to teach you everything, or even more complex enchantments. However, I can train you to use your abilities to their fullest potential, and even to devise your own techniques independant of what others have produced before you. Are you prepared?"

Artes remembered these words. These were so similar to what he had heard when he began to learn magic. He always fealt like it was pointless, but he saw now that he needed it more than ever. He cleared his throat.

"Yes, Sir Kreen, I am prepared and will execute whatever you ask to the best of my mental or physical ability."

"Very well," Kreen says, moving to the ledge he warmed up on that morning and gesturing for Artes to follow.
"The first thing you must learn is concentration. Once you learn this, you will be able to maintain working an enchantment despite your environment. A time will likely come when there is no such thing as a quiet spot, or you are falling to your death and your ability to cast is absolutely key. We will begin with this."

He nodded smartly. He could feel nervous sweat on his palms as he stared at Kreen from an attention like posture. The aura of this man was just... creepy, and Artes couldn't do creepy. He was so used to happiness and flowers and animals... but there was nothing flowery about Kreen the "Dying Breath."

Coming to a stop, Kreen turns to the elf behind him and looks upward to the boy's eyes.
"Now, decide on an enchantment which can be maintained and cast it. Be warned, however, that my training will not be easy. It is unlikely that you will escape entirely unharmed."
"You will not, however, be permanently or even suffer long-term injury. This is a promise."

Artes gulped. This may have been a bit more than he wanted... but... he asked for it. He nodded, choosing a rock, about the size of his fist, and focusing on it. He reached out a hand to it, "Levite" The stone began to hover at about the altitude of Artes's chest. His eyes were dead set on it as he concentrated.

"Good. Now, we begin," Kreen says. He raises a hand and the air around it begins to ripple as he focuses his power into a spell. He thrusts his hand forward, and the energy erupts from his hand and streaks past Artes' left cheek. It continues along over the ocean until it dissipates, but in its wake an expanding wave of heat just short of burning washes over his elven companion. Kreen pauses, then decides to scale back the power just a bit. If he is to maintain this training for the length of time he needs, he cannot afford to expend the energy even for that amount of power for that low-level spell. Not after the fourth-degree spellbraiding using third tier spells he did earlier.

Artes instinctively jumped to the side, the rock falling to the ground. He breathed rapidly. "Y-you didn't say you were going to try and shoot me!" His eyes were wide with surprise and a little hurt.

He swallowed hard, standing himself back up. His face was flush from the rush of heat and he was still in a kind of shocked belief.
