We had an election in August which completely overthrew the old leadership of the guild, with Tank being the only remnant of those days. This resulted in a decent chunk of the older regs to either split from the guild, or to just stop coming much. ( Because I am an evil dogmatic person who creates an extremely oppressive atmosphere, of course. ) This has resulted in a distinctly leftward shift in the leadership of the guild, and in the more prominent members.

Well, when people use the term 'dogmatic' they are not using it in the Marxist sense, but to merely mean a rigid interpretation of Marxism, and an unwillingness to let it be watered down. That is something I'm not going to deny.

You don't have to worry about those divisions now. Most here describe themselves as communist, though I dispute that title in almost every case, and the various educational type threads we try to start are aimed at tryng to bring the guild together, ideologically, though this guild isn't for any particular branch of socialism or communism. The leadership/old-timers/regulars agree on most things, and we're pretty stable in what we consider the guild to be. To quote the pre-amble of the constitution:

This is a place that COMMUNISTS AND SOCIALISTS can come to talk about stuff. The can come here and talk about how to make socialism, how to oppose capitalism, the roots and solutions to all the attending problems.

The guild is NOT here for Liberals to come and deny that capitalism is harmful to the existence of the human race. The guild is NOT here for Libertarians to deny that racism and sexism exist. The guild is NOT here so that anti-communists of whatever stripe can question the basic assumptions of our world views.

The guild IS here for communists and socialists to talk about how to understand these things and how to deal with them. People who want to argue with non-leftists can argue in EDP. Once they step into the guild however, SOCIALISM REIGNS.

This guild exists to bring together varying shades of left-wing socialism and provide them with a place where they can learn about socialism and discuss the differences between the various socialist trends without non-socialists questioning the base assumptions or outright denying them.

And if you think I need to be overthrown... well, vote against me!
But you would do well to know that I was the most staunch opponent of the fascist raid ( Nazis raided us, and I banned them instantly, knowing who they were from previous issues. I copped s**t about that, and the division created there ( me=left, the rest=right) pretty much characterised the rest of the election.
