Lyra saw Halie enter and walked over to the counter.
"Your total is $1.89. Your order will be done momentarily." She noticed her tail and figured not to ask about it. I mean for all she knew, she could be a superhero. Lyra began to sing softly as she waited for the chicken to be ready. "Chef" (as everyone calls him) could hear her.

"Hey Lyra! You're pretty perky for someone who works during the day and is doing the night shift!" Lyra heard him.
"I got some coffee on my way here. That and you have your stereo on back there." Chef laughed and went back to work. The timer dinged and Lyra put the Chicken in a box and into a bag along with some ketchup packets, some honey mustard packets and barbeque sauce. She stuffed a few napkins on top and handed them to Halie.
"So Chef, how late do you work?" Lyra asked.
"I'm actually leaving in 20 minutes. It'll just be you and the stand in manager tonight."
"No waitresses?"
"No, just the drive thru and the parking lot."
"I'm supposed to switch to parking lot at 3:30. Is there anyone coming in to take over?"
"I think Mya is?"
"Why is she coming in?"
"She missed work without calling in, so she's making up her hours by working drive thru at night."
"Awesome, so I won't be alone all night."
"Mya's a little anti social at night though, so I wouldn't talk to her." Lyra nodded and went back to the drive thru. She looked out towards the parking lot to see a woman walking in. To Lyra she seemed odd. When she walked in she walked right into the kitchen.
Must be the night manager. A few moments later the woman walked back out and towards the drive thru window. She inspected every last detail then walked over to the counter where Lyra stood. She inspected everything including the straws. She was certainly strange for a manager. I mean, she's never seen anyone who works at the Chicken wing wear noting but brown or walk around like she's the warden on a jailhouse either. Chef walked out of the kitchen and stood next to Lyra and the manager stood in front of the counter and inspected their uniforms. She looked at Lyra's and shook her head.
"Showing of the stomach, thats a 504, child." She began to search through her bag. She pulled out a an ugly striped sweater.
"Here wear this. You are also in violation of the 505 code." the old woman said. Lyra took the nasty looking sweater.
"505?"
"Yes, all female employees must wear skirts past the knee."
"Why can't we wear pants?"
"Its against the code." Lyra rolled her eyes as the woman went searching through her bag again. She pulled out a skirt that looked like it had been put through a shredder a couple times.
"Also female employees are to wear heels, not dingy old sneakers."
"Hey, these sneakers aren't dingy! I just bought these."
"Well here, take these and put it on." She handed Lyra a pair of heels. Lyra reluctantly took them and went back to her locker to change. She put what she was wearing in her locker and changed into the nasty stuff that the night manager gave her. She walked over to a mirror and gagged.
"I look like I'm a zombie!" Lyra ripped her hair out of its bun and let it hang freely.

"I don't care if she says anything about my hair. She must be like 80 and believes that women should look proper. Who is she to come here and tell me what to wear. Hayden never cared so why should she." Lyra walked back to the counter. The woman nodded and went to the kitchen. Chef laughed when she was gone.
"Never thought I'd see the day where Lyra is wearing a skirt."
"Shut up Chef, my freedom is over. She's taking over, this isn't right!" Chef just laughed and went in the kitchen. Lyra sighed and picked at the sweater.
"This stuff doesn't even match. I feel like I live in a dumpster, this isn't right."
