You have been on Gaia for so long; you don’t necessarily have to leave. But still, if you need to leave (which you probably need to due to your baby) it is still a great thing that you are giving it all away.
Because many people on Gaia would love to have the username that you have and the account. Some people would probably even kill for it (just like Gaara!!). But none of us actually “need” this name.
I am a huge fan of Gaara the sand shinobi as many other people will have said in their essays. Although half the people who have entered your competition have just said crappy bribes like; Im a newb can i have the name? or; can i have your account since im a huge fan of Gaara's?
It is meaningless to those people to write an essay to get the name. They would think it is a stupid idea. I am not necessarily saying I deserve this name either, but I would be very pleased if I was the one to win this most treasured name.
Also, some of the other submittees have said that they will make roleplays with the account. Whats the point?! You enter the contest just to see the name Gaara under the character Gaara?? Waste of a name!
There is only one reason that has made sense to me for using the name gaara and that is the fact that more people "might" pay attention to forums written by the account. I am not doubting them, it just depends on what type of topic they have in mind
Many other Gaians that have names from hit animes such as the series Naruto and the names like Shikamaru, Naruto, Sasuke, and others have been left on Gaia unused. That is just a total waste.
Just thought I’d give a shot at the essay contest and write my thoughts about it.

I understand that this does not give me a better chance at winnin. But sometimes i like struttin meh stuff
1. Gaara was never supposed to be born, he was his fathers creation and ultimate weapon.
2. Gaara's name has become the synonym for deathin his country and that fused with the meaning of his kanji makes the phrase "I love death.
3. The dark rings around his eyes is not eyeliner, it is the mark theat shows he is possessed by shukaku, the one tailed demon.
4. He was created on January 19.
5. He never found his purpose in life so he created his own,"I exist to kill everyone other than me. I fight only for myself and I love only myself. As long as there is people to kill in this world to make myself experience they joy of living my existance will remain. ."
6. Anyone who protests him will get a threaten for death.
7. Gaara cannot fall asleep or the shukaku will gain control over his body.
8. Gaara has an automated sand defense that can protect him from heavy blows.
9. After the Chuunin exams Gaara advances from Genin to Kazakage.

I love to have the name gaara becuse i love gaara and he is my favrate naruto charater.
and i like the name gaara and if i dont win i wont cry becuse gaara dos't cry.
and if i do have the name gaara i well never give my account to nobody i mean nobody ill take care of the name ^.^

gaara you are the bomb and im happy that you dident leave gaia like naruto,sasuke,kakashi,shuoji,sakura, or other naruto people you are the only one who stayed here on gaiaonline well no wonder you dident talk to people you hade a baby to take care of and im also happy that you were going to pick a person on gaiaonline to be gaara you made me so happy when you put the (Here) on your profile im like wow gaara is actily going to pick some on to be gaara i all most passed out i mean there is a lote of people here on gaiaonline that are named like gaara_cool,gaara_heartlss,or gaara of the disert but i mean the name (gaara) is the original one i said OMG am i dreamin or what then i clicked on (here) and it was true so now i want to have the apertonity to be named gaara ^^

omg i HAVE to write a 250 word long essay!? gonk u cant be seriouse Dx man im lazy. :3....so i guess i'll write it. 3nodding xp sweatdrop whee ok.
I think it must have been very hard work on gaia to get this awsome avatar, but real life does matter too. I do understand very much what you need to do as a father and I hope your new born child gets a happy and healthy life ^^. (IF) I get chosen then I will try my (HARDEST) to become as great as you once were on gaia, as hard working like you. I will also make sure that (IF) I get chosen I will work my hardest as you have done too. This shows me that I should try my hardest to be like you, you to me, is one of my greatest romodel's, beacouse of your long hard work on gaia. It would be the largest honor to have your account's name (gaara), and one of the things that will make me feel proud to have known that I have succeeded in getting more confidence in trying my hardest to become as hard working as you. Your real life does come in first, so I really would do so too. (IF) I were to be picked it would be the GREATEST ever to me. But as you would like to know, I would not mind (IF) your name was given out to someone else. I just wish the best for you and your new born child in the world. Hope you have a great time with your child!

First off before I get into saying why I want the name Gaara and whatnot I would like to say. Thanks for actually staying around on Gaia and then when you're quitting you're actually giving the name to someone.
Now that I've said that here's the reason I want the username Gaara.
I don't really want the username Gaara (then why I'm posting this it seems strange). I do want it (I'm confusing you right?) but not for me. My friend, who's a huge fan of Gaara, would love having the username Gaara so when I saw this at first I was all like "I could get the username Gaara!" then after some thinking I relized I was perfectly happy with my username. So I was thinking and came to the conclusion that I would give it to my friend. If I did win (which I probably won't) I would happen to win it before her birthday and then give it to her for it. It probably sounds fake, like I'm lying and all, which I fear you'll think that but I'm not.
Well that's the end of what I'm typing. I can't think of anything else. So yeah. That's the end of this essay.

I have been true to Gaia for a good long time, and I am a strong willed fan of Naruto and Gaara. I saw this opportunity that you were giving Gaians, and I was astonished. I have wanted the name for so long, and I had never seen someone who has taken the original name of a character, turned it into a perfect cosplay of that character, and then given up the name again once he/she has left Gaia Online. I was amazed. I would hold true to the name of Gaara as you did. I would keep the look of Gaara, a profile dedicated to Gaara in the best of my ability, join worthy guilds and role-plays as Gaara, and take on the full-fledged appearance and characteristics of Gaara to the best of my ability. I would not look down upon others for having “lesser” names. I would not flaunt my account to what people call “noobs” for at one time I was a noob myself. I would stay active on my Gaia account of Gaara, and should the day come where I decide to give up Gaia as you have, I would find another worthy person for this name to be given on to. I promise that if I were to get that name, I would fulfill the legacy of Gaara to the fullest extent of my ability, and continue to pass this name down to other worthy people so that the name Gaara is never defiled and abandoned as so many other names have been. The Gaara account, if under my control, would also not be treated as a side account, but used with the fervor as a main account, which I tend to be on for four or more hours a day. Whether or not I acquire this name, you have my utmost sincere thanks for not letting it die.
On a final note, forgive my formal ways, but this is how I generally post, unless I'm RPing, though I do find that being literate always helps to portray a character best.
My knowledge of Gaara is as follows:
He was born possessed by a sand demon, which killed his mother as soon as Gaara was born.
He was hated by his father and sent off to live with his uncle, whom he was later told to kill.
Gaara refused to kill his uncle, so, fearing Gaara would be in trouble, his uncle attacked Gaara later in disguise and congratulated Gaara when he killed him.
Gaara does not know love or pain until late in his life.
He attempts suicide by is prevented by the sand demon.
He is from the village hidden in the sands and is known as Gaara of the sands.
His forehead tattoo means love.
He carries a sand gourd on his back, which helps him perform certain sand chakra such as sand teleportation.
His troubled past and the sand demon has turned him into a killer, though he can usually control himself, and simply kills to remind himself that he’s alive.

Hey there. First off, many thanks for not letting such a sought after account name simply perish. There aren't enough people on Gaia who would do something like this. Good work.
I'm not going to try to make myself sound any worthier of the name "Gaara" than I am. Where's the point in that? No need to fool anyone, so let's be honest. My favorite thing to do on Gaia is roleplay, hence the reason it really ticks me off when people let great usernames go to waste (case in point, Naruto stressed ). If you weren't leaving Gaia, I'd ask you to come roleplay with me sometime. But I digress. As a longtime devoted member of Gaia, it would give me the greatest pleasure to be able to cosplay and roleplay as Gaara.
Incidentally, I am a fan of Naruto. More than likely I would seek out some Naruto RPs to join if I had that account... heck, I've already got a pair of Oculus Magica to start with. I fancy myself pretty good at roleplaying, especially as a character so deep as Gaara. The thought of it makes me quiver with excitement! Uh, sorry, got carried away for a sec. Anyway, I must admit to having been scammed once before on Gaia a few years back, and ever since then I've been extremely cautious with my account. Yes, I only have one account. Moving right along...
My vocabulary's nothing to scoff at, but I still don't think I would truly be able to fully express my eagerness to bring honor to the username Gaara. If you judge me to be a good choice for giving your name to, FREAKIN' SWEET! ...Uh, I mean, that's good. If not, it would be my hope that whoever gets the name does as you or I would do, and gives the name to another when they're done. That being said, I'll never let your name be abandoned, scammed or otherwise dishonored if there's anything I can do to help it. Anyway, that's all for me, so I wish you all the best. Peace out!
