Rothlen grinned. His leader hardly noticed his skin color. Great! He walked silently to her quarters as he was commanded to do. Walking the rows of soldiers he smiled happily at the other elves who appeared to be quite jealous. As he neared the door he took a deep breath and walked into the room. It was wide, rather than long and had war maps hanging from the wall along with many other papers that Rothlen believed to be of utmost importance. "Sire. You summoned me." The drow said in a deep voice. It was then when he noticed something. How young his leader was. She was still a teenager. A little shaken he tried to cool himself, and luckily nothing escaped.

Zayana smiled at Rothlen when he eventually did come in even though he apparently took his time just to irritate her further. She knew his little tricks and passed it off as just wanted to get noticed, and at that she couldn't help but smile again. She motioned for him to come towards her and then she said, "How are your plans coming along with the fight against the light elves? I believe you know what you are doing Rothlen or I will be highly disappointed that I chose you to handle this situation. If we lose more then 10 soldiers in this fight I will be furious because I know you are capable of better. I know myself that you could hold off 20 soldiers at once!" She got down off of her throne and went right in front of Rothlen and bowed, to Rothlen's amazement for the leader never bows to anyone. She then looked up and told him, "I trust you will please me greatly Rothlen and I look forward to hearing about your plan. So if you would be so kind and release the suspense I will be ever grateful." With that she walked back to her throne and sat down, an amused look on her face.

"No, I don't usually venture this far out. Only on special occasions. I-I know you must be surprised at my presence, since I didn't make it known, but I did not want to disturb you. I don't talk much to the other elves, but I wanted to come out here and find out who you are. We are going to heading out on a journey together." Elalieh said hesitantly. "I'm sorry if I scared you, unlike the rumors, I really don't like the silence. I beg your forgiveness for my disturbance, and I thank you for your compliments. I will be on my way soon enough, but I really came here to ask some questions pertaining to our journey. Meeting times, packing requirements, and so on."

The elf smiled gently as a soft breeze came drifting down through the trees, playing with his short violet hair, his bangs drifting in and out of his gaze. "Please, do not apologize. I actually needed the interruption from the silence. For, in truth, I myself am quite nervous about the mission. I do not feel as though as I am ready, so my thoughts have not been restful. In fact, they have been aiding in the formation of my stress levels. So again, please do not feel bad, for you did not intrude. Your presence is quite welcome." The elf smiled again, after he had heard her reasons for coming to see him. Sighing, the captain turned in the other direction, his eyes drifting up once more into the calm skies above them.

"The only meeting that will be required is tomorrow at the portal's entrance. In fact, it will take place during the first hour of the day... midnight." As he said the time, a shiver ran down his spine; he was quite nervous. However, Mil'andrin was able to regain his composure and continued, despite the feelings that swirled within him, tearing him down slowly from the inside. "As for packing requirements, all that you will need is food, drink and of course weapons. But try to keep your packaging as light as possible, for the journey will be long. Just bring what you think you will need. I myself will only be bringing the necessities, such as food and water and of course, my bow and arrows, which explains the work I have been trying to complete." As he said this, Mil'andrin indicated his 'work' by spreading his arm out in the general vicinity of where his arrow shafts lay.

"That is all you really need to know..." Sighing once more, Mil'andrin turned to face the one known as Elalieh, smiling. "And you do not need to leave. As I said before, your presence is indeed welcome. Please, keep me company as I continue crafting my arrows." As he said those words, the elf sat himself back on the ground and prepared himself to continue working...

"I will take you up on your offer to stay, but I will camp up in the tree." Elalieh said. "I feel I can concentrate better when I am above ground. Why? I have no idea, one of the Great Universe's mysteries I guess. Do you mind?" she said as she picked up an arrow. "These are finely crafted, but if you go southeast a few hours from here you will find a cluster of strong oaks to carve some of your arrows from. They do not splinter as easily, and make clean shots because of their thickness. Oak is not as agile as yew, but I find it useful when I need to bring down a beast with thick hide." Elalieh told Mil'andrin as she got comfortable in the tree again and started humming a song she sings to relax as she stared at the clouds.
PostPosted: Wed May 16, 2007 6:05 pm

The elf cocked his head to the side at the mention of oak wood. Never before had he used anything different. For many creatures (including the elves) were comfortable around things that they were used to, which was why Mil'andrin only used yew. However, he was always open to new ideas, especially if someone, who was apart of his exhibition party, was telling him. Even though he was inexperienced, he knew that, as a leader, one must always be open minded to the suggestions of ones travel party. Smiling, the elf, after looking over the wood, brought his eyes over to Elalieh. "I will definitely try that," said the elf, watching as the other began to climb back up into the tree. "And no, I do not mind," answered the elf, soon returning to his work on the yew wood. "As long as I have company, I will be fine." And with that, Mil'andrin began to cut away at the wood and soon, after a few minutes, finished the piece he was working on.

As he began to work on yet another block of wood, Elalieh began to hum. At first, the elf just listened to the mesmerizing notes as they left the other's lips, for they were quite comforting. However, as the minutes began to pass, Mil'andrin could not help but speak. "What song is that?" Inquired the leader, turning where he sat so that he could face the other. "I do not recognize it. Is it a song that comes from our village? For it is, I am not familiar with it..."

"I'd be surprised if you were familiar with this song, for my mother sang it to me when I was younger. That is, before she died, but I will not talk about such melancholy events. It does not have a particular name, all I know is that it is soothing. I only know the melody for the lyrics have escaped my memory many years ago. Time does such things to one's mind." Elalieh said. "If it is distracting you from your work? If so I will stop." she said nervously, sitting up from her relaxed position in the tree. "I do not wish to offend you by keeping you from your hobbies, if at any time I tend to interrupt your activities let me know. For when that happens I will immediately halt my actions."

The elf chuckled after hearing the other elf's words; she was so nervous and so unsure of herself. Was it because she was so secluded from the rest of her people? There was no way of knowing. Of course, she had gone through many trying times but Mil'andrin did not know about them. But luckily for Elalieh, Mil'andrin was very understanding, which was probably one of the other reasons why he had been given the job as leader. Still smiling, the elf looked up at the other, noticing her anxious disposition. "No, no," said the elf, still chuckling, "you are not bothering me... I would have told you if you were. However, I would like to ask one thing of you," continued the elf, soon staring into her eyes. "I do not want you to feel as though you have to please others. Do what makes you feel comfortable not what makes others comfortable. Do you understand?" As he said those words, the elf's face suddenly became very stern, for he was quite serious. However, after the last syllable left his lips, his smile returned and so did he to his work.

As he continued to craft the piece of wood, the elf spoke again, answering in relation to the song Elalieh had been humming. "And, yes, I agree with you. The song is quite soothing. I unfortunately was never sung to when I was a child. Since I was born into such a high and noble family, my parents felt that singing would only make me soft. However, now, I regret their decision. I bet the words were quite gorgeous..." Mil'andrin after those words, suddenly paused, his hand no longer pressing his knife against the wood's image, carving it into the shape of an arrow's body. "You may continue humming if you wish. And if you must know, it does help me..." And with that, the elf soon resumed his work in silence...

Rothlen walked toward her desk, following his ruler's order. "The plans have been going quite fine. I am finished actually. And I do know what I am doing, I have heard your minimum, and I accept it. No more than 10. But, I believe that there shouldn't be very many there." But as soon as the young man finished answering Zayana's question she had left her throne. Moving her way silently down in front of Rothlen, she bowed. "What! This is unneeded Your Highness!" She looked up and asked to hear is plans. "There is no need to ask if I will be so kind. Anything you order me to do I will do. Be it suicide or criminal, you are my master. But I do believe some of the men in the army defy your leadership. I have heard many rumors about you as I have told you before. But, anyway! To the battle plan." Rothlen walked up to a map on her desk. Standing across from her he began. "The light elf kingdom is going to be an easy kill. I believe we should start by pillaging small villages to take prisoners, and to steal items from the houses. After maybe one or two villages attacked the army will head toward the larger cities. One by one trying to over run them." Rothlen pointed to a large city on the map. "It may take a day or two to over run just one city but imagine what would've been gained. After taking over at least one city, the army will return back here to get some well earned rest and food. After that we make a full scale attack onto the capitol.

"We will attack from behind," Rothlen said now using a map of the capitol. "First the parts of the city, the part in back that only poor people live in will be attacked first. I will go into the city and aware the guards that their is going to be an attack from the front. This will be able to be done because of my skin, remember. That will leave the lower class open for attack. We will actually let the lower class live so their shrieks won't cause attention. Only if the scream will they be shot. We will have to climb over the wall which will freak them out but too bad. We will mainly storm the castle. Once inside, one forth will guard the entrance secretly so they will die quickly. There is a back door here," Rothlen pointed to a spot in the very back part of the castle which lay in the middle of the city. "Another forth will guard the main entrance. Then the rest will follow me to attack in the throne room on the top floor. Once their, nothing can be planned." Rothlen took a deep breath. He may have said it a little fast but not so fast it wasn't understandable. Just enough to make him lose his breath. "What is you opinion of the attack?"

Zayana raised her eyebrow in amazement. She knew she was not going to be disappointed with Rothlen's plan, but she did find one flaw. She smiled misheviously and then replied, "Oh, dear Rothlen I think it is a wonderful idea." She stopped and let his ego rise and then continued, "However you have one flaw that could cost your soldiers their life. Do you know what that is dear Rothlen?" She waited for him to reply and when he just stood there with a bewildered look on his face she smiled and replied, "When you thought about retreating back here to get some sleep and rest the light elves are plotting their evil plans. You see if you come back here you don't only put your retreating soldiers and you yourself in harms way, but you endanger the other dark elves that would be so unfortunate to be around you and your comrads when you return. This would put you in a bad predicament would it not? Since I thought I made it clear that you are not to lose more than 10 soldiers! In you retreating you can be sure some light elves will pursuit you for revenge, and yes they will fall eventually but remember it is not them you should be worrying about. For if you lose more then 10 soldiers you can be sure you will be paying with your own life." With that she glared at him waiting to see if he would defy her, but she knew he wouldn't and she couldn't help but let out a little giggle for she knew he knew she was messing with him. She always loved to see him frustrated and unable to respond and he never seized to amuse her.

"It is unfortunate that you were not sung to when you were a child. I find singing lovely songs helps me most when I am scared, nervous, or I want to relax. And I will think on those words. Maybe I will learn to do what makes me feel comfortable and not worry so much about my impression on others. I will teach you songs on the journey, no? Great songs of hunting, love, and adventure that will surely bring up our spirits when we are down. For now, I must get back to my home. Supper-time is fast approaching and I have yet to catch myself a meal. Good day, Mil'andrin. It was a pleasure conversing with you." and with that Elalieh jumped out of the tree and fled into the dense woods to hunt for her dinner.
PostPosted: Thu May 17, 2007 3:06 pm

Mil'andrin watched as the elf quickly jumped out from the tree she had been lying in, and then, with much velocity and sprint into the forest. For a long while, the elf just stood there, watching as her image was enveloped by the darkness that surrounded her. And, even when her figure had disappeared, he continued to stare, lost in his own thoughts. Her image being engulfed in the woods was what the elf felt their future was going to be: they were going out into the unknown, facing unknown creatures that most likely hated them. It was no doubt a suicidal mission. Well, that was how Mil'andrin saw it, but, of course, he was not going to say that to his team, for he had to stay strong. But truly, was that going to be that destiny? Was her body the metaphor of what they were going to become? A lone group, slipping into nothingness, soon to be forgotten, even by the ones that sent them on the journey. For, if they failed, then his home, the place where he had lived all his life, would be no more.

Cursing, the elf looked away from the path which Elalieh had taken, soon placing himself back onto the ground where he then attempted to continue working on his arrow shafts. However, no matter how hard he tried, his mind continued to fall back into negative thoughts; thoughts that told him that he had no chance, that they were all going to die. Sighing, Mil'andrin dropped the piece of wood he was working on and soon through his head in his hands. "Oh gods above," prayed the elf, soon falling onto his knees. "Give me strength to lead this group through the unknown. I do not pray for my own well being, but for the welling being of my team and my race. For, if we fail, then how can the soldiers at home fight off an army that is stronger than they themselves are? Please..."

And with that, the elf fell face first onto the ground, his fists banging into the earth. "Help us..." whispered the elf, his voice mangled behind his clenched teeth. "Help us..."

Elalieh sat at home later that night eating a salad. "Hmph no good animals out tonight. They must sense the foreboding aura that's surrounding our villages and invading our thoughts." she said as she crunched on a carrot. Once she finished her meal she walked to her window and stood staring out at the stars. "This journey is a quicker path to d3ath, but I cannot ignore it. This time was bound to come sooner than later, just like mother predicted." she said as she let her gaze wander towards a picture of her mother and herself. "I wish you were here to give me words of encouragement, but I know that this is the way it has to be. I will do my best to keep my brethren safe, please watch over my companions and me on our journey. Good night, mother." Elalieh finished with a farewell to her mother, almost as if she were there. She walked to her bedroom and finished packing for the trip. After she was done she collapsed on her bed and tried to sleep, but was overwhelmed with doubts and thoughts about tomorrow, about her journey, about the future of her people.

While Zayana was waiting for Rothlen to answer she noticed something creeping in the shadows. She was about to grab her scimitars when Nazriel appeared and she couldn't help but chuckle. Nazriel always seemed to approach someone like this although it wasn't the smartest thing to do since the dark elves trusted no one and would attack her if she didn't present herself when they noticed her. She strode over to the throne and gave a swift bow before returning to her usual spot next to Zayana, where a second but less elaborate throne stood. She glanced over at her and then smiled before returning her attention to Rothlen, becoming quite irritated that he was taking his sweet time to reply. She knew not to show her anger though for that was what he wanted to see, she knew he was meaning to do this for the pleasure of seeing his leader flustered and on the verge of anger. She calmed down and composed herself, not letting Rothlen get what he wanted to see.
