Ceyx I never really bother with trying to figure out how everything started, because it's all just one big causal chain. If you decide on what caused it to happen, then you just have to deal with what caused the thing that caused the beginning... Infinite regressions suck like that. I don't think that the big bang theory really works though. The laws of physics state that an object in motion remains in motion and an object not in motion remains not in motion unless acted on by an outside force. So even if matter was condensed into a singularity at some point, you still need a beginning force. If you take the theist approach, then you have to deal with the "where did God come from" questions. Which, actually you can explain away with some philosophy. 1. Everything is either dependent (relies on something else for it's existence) or self-existing (relies on nothing for it's existence. 2. Not everything can be dependent (something has to have started the causal chain) 3. Therefore, something is self-existing. This self-existing thing would be God. Since God relies on nothing for his existence, he must have simply always existed. Some people prefer to accept that everything is contingent, (and also, therefore, a series of infinite regression) than accept the existence of a self-actualising, necessary being.

I believe that the universe may have come from the Big Bang but then I am left with the question "What was there before it?" and "What created what there was prior to the Big Bang, if anything?" I do not believe it was any god.

link2822 in the multiverse unaverses are next to eachother like //// and when they touch it gives an extraordinary amount of energy that then turns into matter and so on, eventuly all matter will decay to what it was before and eventuly another big bang will happen Thats not necessarily true. In fact, not-too-recently in the science world did they conclude that, as far as anyone can tell, the big bang will not happen again in our universe. It wont happen because all the matter in our universe is accelerating away from each other, as opposed to condensing back into the BB. I believe in the multiverse theory, where the matter in our universe came from another universe. But in this model, infinity is a dependent. You have to believe infinity extends in all directions, both in space and time. I think it's ridiculous to even consider existence having a beginning, after all non-existence is an existence as was talked about earlier.

You will always have this fight.
Science vs. Creationism.
People who folow Creationism, Question science While Science on the other hand questions Creationism. There is never a winning point..
I for one believe in the big bang theory. To believe else ,is beyond my compretion as to why but, I cannot decide for other people.

I like Newton's idea of God and Creation, where he stated that God was a divine creator of a machine, which he had set in motion and let it run its own course. As for myself, I like to extend this idea to say that God had created matter and that over time this matter was pulled together by gravity, creating galaxies and bodies within those galaxies. Perhaps this is not the best explanation, but it certainly rationalizes both religion and science, so I am pretty comfortable with it - Sir Isaac Newton is the best!

Pacify The Resurrection For this reason and this reason alone, I am a theist. I can't tell you how the god(s) came to be, but I think it's a hell of a lot simpler than the idea of finite matter begetting itself from infinite nothingness. The spontaneous creation of a creature capable of creating the entire universe and all life within it is simpler to you than a multiverse theory? Multiverse theory would be? I can guess at most of it, but need the details.

A multiverse (or meta-universe) is the hypothetical set of multiple possible universes (including our universe) that together comprise all of physical reality. The different universes within a multiverse are called parallel universes. The structure of the multiverse, the nature of each universe within it and the relationship between the various constituent universes, depend on the specific multiverse hypothesis considered.

I am a Christian so I believe in God creating the earth. Hmm, I can't seem to remember the exact number but haveing Earth created, perfectly for human needs, water, air, animals, atmosphere, ability to adapt and to learn, was like winning the one million lottery one thousand times in a row. Ok, I bet I messed up the number of times but that is an example.

Well, in a nearly infinite universe with nearly infinite possibilities, the chances of that specific environment occurring somewhere are possible. And it obviously did, because we exist.

I don't know much about the Big Bang theory, but I'm not going to automatically rule it out just because we don't know where the original matter came from. However, just from a quick review of history, I believe the universe came to exists through means we don't have the technology to discover at the moment.

My head spins after thinking to hard on this I admit.
I have come to the comfortible conclusion that my brain has simply not evolved enough to comprehend an answer to such a question.
I realise this could also be a lame cop-out.

Just because the probability of something occuring is next to nil doesn't mean that it won't (or hasn't).

I also believe that God created the world but they say that the book of Genesis is a myth, what's really important is that that there is someone greater to create the universe. And even if there are theories about how the universe is created, and even if they were true somehow, such phenomenon cannot be done without someone greater.

I do not know how we the universe came to be. I am in favor of the Big Bang theory, but I do not know what came before nor do I have an idea. I am not theistic. Occam's Razor, make as few assumptions as necessary. I do not find the hypothesis of God necessary.
