Zelos sauntered along a fair ways behind the kid, running off like that wasn't his style. He honestly couldn't see how anyone could have gotten so excited about cacti, but maybe the kid's brain had just been frying too long before Zelos had rescued him.

Once he caught up and reached the shade, he sat down and proceeded to lounge leisurely while the shade was still available.

It was mere seconds after reaching the shade that Demyx had leapt upon a cactus to get at the water within.

Then, of course, the air was filled with a pain-filled yelp as the kid pulled away with cactus needles coating his paws. Whimpering, Demyx flopped on the sand beside his new 'foe', and attempted to remove the thorny objects from his body.

"Why...would anyone coat something containing water in thorny little things?! Huh??"

Zelos just rolled his eyes. It was just pretty pathetic, what kind of brainless idiot leaped head first into a cactus? The brat obviously wasn't a thinker.

With a 'why me?' kind of sigh, he got up and pulled out his sword, and used it to sever the cactus from it's roots. Then he set to delicately trimming off the spikes.

"You know, you gotta think things through before doing something like that. You might think you can pull off the whole near death injury routine, but it takes a lot more finesse than that. Trust me, hunnies aren't interested in cactus scars."

Muttering miserably, the kid was silent for several minutes while he removed spines from his paws. That done, he finally gave the other a response.

"First of all, you never told me what a hunny was. Second of all, I don't -want- scars, OR a near death injury. I just wanted some water. And THIRD of all...."

Now shooting the other a glare, which....still managed to look hurt and terrified, Demyx stood and limped his way closer to Zelos and the fallen cactus.

"I can do -this-, thank you."

Quickly, the kid poked a hole in the now less thorny cactus. That made, it wasn't long before a small stream of water seeped out of the plant....and then somehow floated into the air, and eventually into Demyx's mouth. Drink taken, he simply gave Zelos a smug smile before flopping back into the shade.

"Fine," Zelos muttered, returning the brat's smug look with his own disgruntled expression. He could have pricked his own fingers on that cactus, and the kid didn't even show him any proper gratitude for that assistance, or his advice.

"Healing Wind," he said, and a small curl of magical wind swirled over the kid's paws. It wasn't like he cared about the kid's injuries, he just didn't want to have to see that pathetic limping. And maybe it would get rid of the kid's pathetic hurt look.

With that done, he flicked his hair back in a most practiced manner, and resumed lounging.

"You really don't know anything, do you? Hunnies are girls. What else would they be?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 4:47 pm

"I dunno, that's why I asked! Besides, why would you call a girl a hunny anyway? Just...call em girls?"

It was then that Demyx noticed the wind had actually fixed up his paws. Blinking, the kid gave a few taps to the ground to test. Now looking rather sheepish, Demyx quickly averted his eyes from the other.

"Erm...thank you..."

That was more like it.

"You're welcome," Zelos said with a casual grin, and ran a paw through his hair to keep all but a couple choice strands from falling into his face.

"Why would I want to call them girls? My hunnies deserve better than any common name like that."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 5:45 pm

His hunnies? Er...okay this was delving far into the realm of weird.

"er.....okay if you say so."

Demyx quickly dropped the subject. He -really- did not want to question Zelos as to why these so called 'hunnies' were his afterall.

After a minute or so, Zelos got up and brushed the sand off his long vest. It was time for him to be off, and the sooner he got going, the sooner he would run across the next hunny. A real one, not one that turned into a brat.

"Well, I should be on my way. See ya around, kid."

He turned and headed back out into the desert. He had done his good turn for the day, so the thought of abandoning the kid didn't weigh heavily on his conscience at all. Besides, if he had gotten all the way into the desert on his own, he could get himself back out. Nothing for Zelos to worry about.

"..Hey...hey! Where ya goin?"

Whining, the kid scrambled to his feet and quickly put himself between Zelos and his search for his next vic---hunny. Not that he was that graceful. What would have been a rather defiant stance, turned into Demyx lying in a heap at Zelos' feet.

"Y-you're just gonna leave me here?...."

Okay, so the pink wearing one was kinda odd. So? It was much better being with him than like...alone! Couldn't argue with that logic, right?

Zelos stopped and gave the kid an incredulous look. "Um, yeah?"

Well, it certainly wasn't his job to look after the brat, why was he giving him such a pitiful look? It wasn't even like the kid had any reason to expect him to hang around, he had just shown him to the closest patch of shade. And now he would be on his way.

"Look, I've got places to go, I can't hang around taking the spines of cacti forever, you know."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 7:17 pm

"But...but...can't I go?"

Moving out of his heap, the kid laid on his belly at the other's feet, staring up at Zelos with his most pathetic puppy dog eye look possible.

"Pleaseeee?....I'll be good!"

He just had to tag along long enough to find the others...then he could leave this weird one and all would be back to normal.

A rejection was on the tip of his tongue, but Zelos paused before actually saying anything out loud. The kid sure was pathetic, and it would probably be annoying to have him tagging along, but maybe he could use it to his advantage.

After all, nothing melted a hunny's heart like a story about adopting a pathetic little creature, such as the one in front of him, and keeping it safe from harm.

"I don't know," Zelos muttered, wearing a doubtful expression. The more the kid thought he was going to be ditched, less trouble he would be. People were extra eager to please when they were grateful for a favour. "I guess you could come with me, as long as you're good like you say you are."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 7:35 pm

"I will be! Promise!"

Tail swishing, the kid scrambled back to his feet and beamed at Zelos.

"I'll be extra good! And helpful! And...and...whatever you want! Just don't leave me here..."

No, being left alone...wherever the hell he was...was not very high on his 'to do' list. Besides, if he ever -did- make it back on his own, Xemnas would ream him over what a failure he was for getting so lost. At least this way he had done something productive with his time.

"Good." Zelos said with a broad smile. "Let's go then."

He started walking again, heading in the direction he guessed they could find their next rest break. It would probably be just fine spending the night there too, he certainly didn't care for traipsing around all day. Blisters were unsightly.

"So, kid," Zelos asked while he walked. "What did you say your name was?"

Not that he really cared, he just knew it would be easier to use a name when telling hunnies about how he was taking care of the poor thing.
