Woodnut Scribblemouse I.Am That's true, but she's one of the few. And that's always bothered me too. If you don't think you should be forcing your morals on everyone by making abortion illegal, you should be against laws entirely, because God forbid you force your anti-murder morals on other people. Otherwise it's just hypocritical. But there are a lot of people who seem like they just don't think that they should get involved at all; Like, they really don't think that they have any right to set laws, but they aren't going to object to you wanting to set laws, so they are going to call themselves Pro-Choice when, really, they are a-political. Slippery slope argument . . . The slippery slope is only an invalid argument if it isn't (or couldn't be) accurate. In this particular case, it's a valid point. To those who feel abortion is murder, it wouldn't make sense to argue that murder should be illegal while abortion-on-demand shouldn't be. What he seemed to be arguing was that if you're not for making your views a law, you'll be happy with ALL laws done away with, or rather you're 'against laws entirely', since in a way, all laws are someone forcing their views on other people (since there will be people out there whose views conflict with laws). I don't think this is accurate, in the case of 'pro-life personal, pro-choice political' certainly. They see it as a choice. You can choose not to have an abortion. Since they recognise it as a choice, they think that everyone should be entitled to choose. Just because they have chosen not to have an abortion, doesn't mean they think everyone should choose the same way. They think people should be free to choose either way. So they don't think abortion should be illegal, etc. This reminds me of - I think it was Kant's - principle about universal law. It went something like: you shouldn't make laws for yourself that you wouldn't wish to become laws for everyone. So if you think you shouldn't steal, you'll be fine with a law saying no one should steal. On the other hand, you can't make it alright for you to steal and say that no one else should be able to steal. Although in the case of people who are 'pro-life personal, pro-choice political', I don't know how exactly this maxim would relate to. They say they wouldn't have an abortion themself, but they think that the law should allow for others to have abortions. I'm not sure whether this equates. Hmm, I think I've managed to confuse myself *has a rest*

And what places do they discriminate against pregnant women? I don't do that. My teacher's going to have a baby in March so her stomach's showing, she's married but all it is is a small human living in there. ^ ^ Kind of gross when you think about the umbilical cord and the period blood, but when I see a pregnant woman I go "Awwww!" not "YOU NASTY b***h!"It depends what age you are/how young you look, not really where you are (unless you're in school, THEN you'd probably be dirty-looked right out of the building every day). A friend of mine was simply taking her baby cousin for a walk in his pushchair, and the number of dirty looks she got was ridiculous. I was that tempted to give the dirty-lookers a piece of my mind, but my friend stopped me, bah.

and that mentality is bullshit. anyone who can look at a child, at any point, and say "mistake", deserves to die in a fire. if they are so pro-choice, why can they not acceptthe choices they wouldn't personally make? by god i hope i never meet one of those hypocrits

Alright KP ol buddy heres the jist of it: See this orange, well it rapes the tree of its nutrients because of course it has malicious intent and hates the tree, and the botanist wants the orange to grow fully, but its the trees nutrients so of course the botanist is an asstard, and in turn is raping the tree... litterally. Oh and for old times sake: Oranges aren't fruit. Just to clarify.

Scribbles, the problem is, we're talking about two different sets of people. The people you are talking about are people who wouldn't get an abortion themselves; Not necessarily because they believe that abortion is equivalent to murder, but because they would just never have one themselves. I'm talking about people who say, "Abortion is morally wrong and the same as murder. But, I shouldn't force my values on other people." It's mind boggling, and it is -exactly- like saying "Killing other human beings, outside of self defense or defense of others, is morally wrong, but I shouldn't force my values on other people, so it shouldn't be law." There is no slippery slope involved.
