thank you everyone who has argreed with me because this is a part of animal cruelty ever since i seen this movie on horse racing i have felt this way people dont realize how buetiful these animals are and how sesetive they are to being abused a horse can freak out when beaten on the face then when the horse is sold the horse can not stand to be brush or touch on the face which is really sad because they are such buetiful creatures and you can get such a connection from ridding them it is so sad that people treat them with such disrespect. cry

i dunno actually, i just never have...probably riding Dakota too much sweatdrop he's a way different ride too, i think my friend said he was bumpy, whereas dakota is really smooth, and he tends to leave really really long for jumps, which dakota(when he actually goes over them) doesn't

ABUSIVE!

My friend works at Philadelphia Park (it's a PA racetrack) so I get to go behind-the-scennes occasionally.
Her horse Halo Lad is a former racer.
One of her friends, a trainer, offered to sell him to her after one last race. So she falls in love with him, he's entered in one more race and he breaks his leg. He was full of infection when she finally got him.
That was well over a year ago now, though, and he's able to be ridden sometimes and lives a really happy life. 3nodding

Anyway, racetracks are horrible places. The Deleware track's way better tan Philly's though.
Out of the 10 or so visits to tracks I've made, I've seen five horses break down, and at least three had to be put down. It's really sad.

A lot of the horses are surprisingly sweet. Like, there's commonly more nice ones than bad ones. A one-eyed racehorse named Lookmeintheeye (Ojo) love to play with people's hoods, air and jackets. I even got to groom a racehorse on my last visit.

Most of them are confined to their stalls except for a quick morning workout and any race they have. And they're all so young.

Most of the trainers I've met really seem to care about their horses though. And 90% of the horses I've seen really do love running their races.
My friend's ex-racehorse still gets excited and tried to race other horses, even though he's got so many leg problems.


I hate the racetrack, I'm totally against the racing industry.

And Ojo's not blind in one eye, well he is blind, but he just doesn't have the eye at all. I was told he lost it in a trailer accident as a baby. He's just got an empty socket where an eye once was.

I'd say some of the racehorses act up because they're bored, some because of the owners and others because they're just plain excited. xd
I used to ride a horse who'd bite people while getting groomed because he was just so excited that he wanted to be ridden right away. It all depends on the situation. Of course some don't like it, but most of the horses I've met love winning, competing and leaving the others in the dust. heart
