Wow, wish I could go, but that is way too far north for me. I live in the most southern state in the U.S, Florida. Plus, I don't have a passport yet. Still, does anyone know any conventions in Florida or just the general southeast?

Kims_Prince ~vampires~curse~ yeaa!!! Pannel at north!!*squeels happily* Through...despite the fact I like girls more then guys...I'll prolly be spending all my time in the yaoi room^^*dances* I'm there for all 3 days so if youre doing a pannel for all 3 days ill come check it out.wheee!! This is [~fallenangel~] turned ~vampires~curse~ I'm only going to be there for one panel for 2 hours on Saturday. I was offered to host an entire weekend but after the way most of the yaoi north kids treated us I don't want to be around the entire weekend again. I got hit with a paddle our pride flag was insulted and some of the girls called us disgusting. The heads of Yaoi North and AN are trying to figure out how to fix things, but I'm not sure there is much that can be done so working for 3 days there is nolonger in the picture. I've hosted lectures at AN for 8 bloody years. I took a couple years off and could not beleive how ignorant people were. *sighs* Makes me sad. Well I'll see you around maybe. jaa ne Kat Williams Shoujo-ai Canada....O_O yaoi fans did that O_O s**t thats a big shock...last year when I volunteered at AN like I had at least 100 people ask if there was a yuri panel anywhere LOL....but thats....harsh..Ill prolly show up to say hi XD What time on saturday?

There were actually two panels last year, an all ages shoujo-ai panel on saturday and a lesbian writing and sex panel on saturday night. Both went over rather well. I don't know what was with the yaoi fans. Some crumpled up our fliers about the panels in front of our booth in the corperate area and others were just insulting. Many people were happy to see me running around with a pride flag on a pole, but others were not so pleased to see a pair of really lesbians at the con. As for this year I am not sure when the workshop will be other then sometime in the afteroon. I have not heard back from the head of panels. The programming heads have given me the okay, actually begged me to return. This will mark 10 years since I first started writing a shoujo-ai manga and created my business, K&N Manga. It will be interesting seeing as I've been going to AN since 98. Things have changed so much since then. I'll inform you all more as I get the info. jaa ne Kat

I would love to attend it, but I am too far away and there are no fun anime things where I live, and not enough yuri fans.

I'm really sorry to hear how you and your wife were treated at AN last year. The yaoi paddle girl should have been reported and banned from the con. That kind of disrespect and blatent homophobia should be unacceptable.
I told a yaoi fan (an adult, no less) about the paddle girl and she yelled "yay! Points for our team!". Disgusting.

I was gonna go to AN this year since I live near Toronto, but I decided that I'd rather save my money for my trip to New York that's the weekend before AN. Talk about timing... sweatdrop

Aww, I'd like to go, but I wouldn't possibly be able to.
Sorry you got abused by fangirls. They can be f**king obnoxious! Excuse my language. I mean, I'm a fangirl and all, but those rabid ones are just detestable. I hate going to a con and having my fun interupted by a flock of fangirls racing down the hall screaming "BUTTSEXXXXXXXXX!" At the top of their lungs. It almost makes me feel ashamed of myself neutral
Aren't paddles outlawed at most cons now? Ironically, I think that yaoicon outlaws yaoi paddles at their con. xd

How cool. I have a friend that goes to AN every year (he's apparently on a first name basis with Scott McNeil); if you go next year I'll tell him to say hi to you.

Still, does anyone know any conventions in Florida or just the general southeast? I went to MegaCon in Orlando once. Actually, I think Orlando is like the anime con mecca of Florida. You should check there first.
