i personally like Viz better because they come out with new books faster, where as Tokyo Pop will wait a couple months before publishing a new manga in english even if the book in japan was published like 3 years ago. I am just impatient!

Viz. It has a lot more shojo in it and I prefer the romance manga's over anything else.

... I can't choose crying Viz has the Shounen Jump and Shojo Beat stuff... but Tokyopop has Loveless, Saiyuki, and other manga I own.

Whats your opinion in my opinion Viz purely the fact it has shhonen jump, inuyasha and ranma

I hate VIZ!!! It should die... it translates things really bad. though it sucks that they do all the shonen. tokyo pop is great, but they do all the shojo... which is good but still, i like both. But VIZ SUCKS. sorry if that didnt make sense.

It personally doesn't matter to me, I'll read manga from either of them.

This one likes both, but prefers manga from Viz as this one likes more titles from them. On saying that though there a few titles from Tokyo pop that this one also likes to read. Hmmm.....

Viz manga:
- Kenshin
- Naruto
- DB(Z)
- Shaman King
- Buso Renkin
- FullMetal Alchemist

TokyoPop:
- Samurai Deeper Kyo
- Gundam Seed
- Jing the king of Bandits
- B'tX
- DNAngel

To be fair it seems that Viz publishes alot faster. This one still hasn't seen any hint of a DNAngel 11 after about six months, while Shaman King seems to come out every four months or so. this one has to say Viz is better, as if for nothing more viz is generally slightly cheaper.

(Also someone mentioned DarkHorse manga. That too is a good company though this one only knows of two decent manga to have come from it;
Trigun (Max) and Hellsing.)

i go with tokyopop because when viz translates they change lots of small things that make the manga what it is.* tokyopop and the smaller companies have translator notes so that they can leave some of the japanese in with definitions in the back.

*ex. in Inuyasha when they talk about his fire rat haori (robe) viz says it is stranger than any suit of armor and the original japanese says that it is stronger than a rusty suit of armor. There is a diffrence.

darkhorse also does Megatokyo, which is a webcomic you can find at megatokyo.com

On saying that though in Kyo 21 the refer to the four emperors as the four kings or something.
It's always going to happen in a translation.

I like Tokyopop... all of my favorite Manga is Tokyopop. My most favorite,Tsubasa, is Del Ray comics though. But sadly, unknown manga deserves unknown publishing companys...
