1. go back and find that guy and think of a way to steal the key The man had turned down the left hand corridor, so you stealthily head down that way. After a short walk, you come to another intersection. There's a passageway leading to the right, or stairs going upwards. You notice a few spots of fresh blood on the stairs, but you hear a sound, as of someone sighing, down the corridor. You:
1. Go upstairs. Surely the blood means the man passed this way? 2. Turn down the righthand corridor. Human sounds can only be made by human throats... right?

1. go upstairs. the blood is ominous but the sound means there was a human presence, and you're not sure whether you want to be noticed yet. you ascend the stairs and as you do you hear louder sounds..muffled shouts maybe?..coming from behind another door on the right. do you:
1. carry on up the stairs 2. try to get in the door where the shouts are coming from

2. Try to get in the door where the shouts are coming from. You listen for a moment, but can't make out what's being said in the next room. You try to open the door, only to discover it, too, is locked, and the door is too sturdy to break down by yourself. You turn away in defeat, resolved to carry on up the stairs, but you notice something behind a picture just beside the door. Looking closer, you discover a key.
Inserting the key into the lock on the door, it slides in easily and the door smoothly unlocks. You've come this far. You:
1. Open the door, and confront whatever awaits you. 2. Open the door slightly, and try to get a peek of what or who might be in there before making your decision.

2. you open the door slightly and peek in. but it's dark..and you can't see anything...but the people inside can see the light coming through the crack in the door, and one of them shouts.
do you:
1. close the door and run 2. open the door all the way and confront whoever is in there

2. Open the door all the way and confront whoever is in there. You open the door and allow the light of the hallway to penetrate the darkness. In the gloom you can make out two figures. Both appear to be staring in your direction.
"You do not belong here. What brings you to the castle?"
You reply, "I found this place while wandering in the forest. What is going on here?"
Instead of replying, one of them lights a lamp on the table. As the light flares, you see two misshapen humans sitting there.
"Only a person of significant blood-power could find this place unaided. Yes, you will do well as our next sacrifice. Garreth!"
A shadow falls on you, and you feel a sturdy blow to your head. Then you feel nothing.
When you awaken, you find yourself in a cell. Daylight shines through a small window near the roof of the cell. The window is barred, but the bars look to be a little rusty. You have been stripped of your possessions, left only with some modest clothing. On trying to open the door, you find it to be locked. However, it looks like you could force it open with some effort. You:
1. Attempt to force the door open. (Will create a fair bit of noise, but can be done in a few minutes.) 2. Search the cell for something that would help you escape the room. 3. Attempt to remove a couple of the bars from the window and squeeze through there. (Quiet, but time consuming)

3. you attempt to remove a couple of the bars from the window and squeeze through there. You almost manage to remove one, it's hanging on loosely, when you hear footsteps outside the cell and you slump down on the floor quickly to look as if you weren't trying to escape. A key turns in the lock and the door to your cell opens. A large, heavy looking man appears in the doorway and looks down at you.
"Time to go" he says in a deep, booming voice. He reaches down to you...Do you:
1.) stand up on your own and follow him, wellbehaved (who knows what he could do to you..maybe it's better to co-operate) 2.) try to attack him 3.) back into a corner of the cell and try to use your way with words to get out.

1.) stand up on your own and follow him, wellbehaved. The large man seems surprised and suspicious at your meekness, but he doesn't use the shackles you spy on his belt.
As you pass through the corridors you come to the section you recognise. The door that Garreth locked is just down that way, the stairs further up. It seems you're being led back up the stairs. You:
1. Attempt to run for a window and open it to climb out. 2. Attempt to run for a window and smash it to climb out. 3. Try to sneak the shackles off of the large man you're following and use them on him before making any other moves. 4. Continue to follow him docilely.

3. try to sneak the shackles off the large man and use them on him. However, just as you clamp your fingers around the shackles, he feels the vibration of your hand, and he spins, grabbing your arm and pinning it behind your back. You yelp at the tightness of his grip. "I don't think so..mate. You're coming with me" He continues to march you up the stairs, gripping your arm tightly behind your back.
you:
1. let him march you up the stairs, his grip seems too tight for you to move 2. try and wriggle your way out of his grip 3. try to reach backwards with your lef and trip him up with your foot

3. Try to reach backwards with your leg and trip him up with your foot. As you come out on the upper floor, you manage to tangle your leg up with his and send him tumbling back down the stairs. One he lands, he lies motionless, not even groaning. The room the other two people were in appears to be empty, the door standing open. You then hear the creak of wood from up the next flight of stairs. You:
1. Flee into the now empty room ahead of you. 2. Go back down the stairs to the motionless man to retrieve his shackles, and possibly any keys. 3. Cautiously head upstairs to investigate the sounds you heard.

1. flee into the now empty room ahead of you and wait, listening for any noises of people getting nearer. You hear several people pass, and you hear them shouting as they realise the guard is knocked out..or dead...you hear shouting but then all goes quiet, and you peep your head out of the door to see..there's no one about but the guard is still on the floor, so they'll be back soon.
you:
1. sneak up the stairs quickly from where the sounds were coming from 2. hide in the room somewhere, hoping no one will notice you

1. Sneak up the stairs quickly from where the sounds were coming from. You quietly move up the staircase. After what seems like an eternal climb, you come face to face with a sturdy closed door. However, upon trying the doorknob, you find that the door has been left unlocked. You open it very slightly, but realise that whatever lies beyond is shrouded in total darkness. You:
1. Open the door and allow light from the stairwell to penetrate the room. 2. Slip into the room and close the door behind you, feeling your way around.

1. open the door and allow light to penetrate the room. even if someone notices you, better to see your attacker than face someone in the dark.
Inside the room you see that there is a huge slab in the middle, with a tray of sharp looking ceremonial knives next to it. you:
1. walk closer to take a look 2. look around the room to explore further..and look for another way out?

1. Walk closer to take a look. The knives are arranged neatly, almost as if set for a meal. There is also a faint rusty odour in the room, although the source is not apparent. Around the edges of the slab are grooves that lead to small funnels at either end. The slab is also appears to be stained a reddish brown, though it is difficult to tell in the dim light. You soon become aware that the odour is rising from the slab of stone, and are faintly disturbed by it. There are a few ornate candelabra in the room, and they would seem to throw a great deal of light if lit. You are about to light one of the candelabra when you hear footsteps coming back up the stairs. You:
1. Grab one of the ceremonial knives and hide behind the stone slab. 2. Hide behind the stone slab, sans knife. 3. Light the candles, grab a knife, and prepare to fight!

1. Grab a knife and hide behind the stone slab
you hear footsteps geting closer, but because of the darkness you cannot see. You hear someone enter the room..you listen carefully, and you can hear them breathing..they must be very close.
you:
1. jump put from behind the slab and prepare to attack 2. continue to hide and hope they go away

2. Continue to hide and hope they go away. You hear the movement continue around the room for a moment, until it comes to a rest near where you remember one of the candelabra sitting. Suddenly light flares in the room, and an angry hiss issues forth from the unknown person. After a moment he lets out an angry call, "She's taken the Blade of Life! Find her!"
You hear him moving around again. He seems to be moving around the slab, towards you! You:
1. Move silently to a different side of the slab. 2. Sneak around the slab to attack the man from behind 3. Stand and fight. 4. Make a run for the door.
