i would say it's pretty good but not as good as hot fuss for it to be their first album damn i mean it was amazing! 3nodding

I agree. In my mind, Hot Fuss will always be slightly better than Sam's Town.

When I first heard it, I wasn't too impressed. But now I've listened to it a zillion times, I gotta say, the songs have really grown on me, and its now my current fave album!

My fave songs are 'When You Were Young', 'Sam's Town', 'Read My Mind', 'Bones', 'For Reasons Unknown' and, above all, 'This River Is Wild'.

Better than Hot Fuss? I think yes... but the only thing it's missing in my opinion is a 'Mr Brightside' track. Do you know what I mean? 'Mr. Brightside' is just so... wow, and I think it really stands out on Hot Fuss. But I guess it would be hard to top it.

Yes, I don't skip over anything on Hot Fuss, except, maybe, Everything Will Be Alright, I have to be in the right mood.User Image
But I skip over 2 or 3 on Sam's Town sweatdrop

I skip over a lot of stuff on Sam's Town unless I really am in the mood for it. I guess I was overly excited for the new album and It turned out to be a bit of a let down. Alot of the songs turned out really good though, considering that the band was experimenting a little bit. razz I guess what I am trying to say is that, considering that this is The Killers second album, they did a good job. mrgreen

Yeah, same here. It was a bit dissapointing, but I'm really hoping that eventually I'll come to love it. It took me way over 6 months to fall in love completely with Hot Fuss. When I first got it, I only like "Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me." I tried to listen to the rest of the album, but it didn't appeal. *shrug*

I just really really hope Sams Town is the same sort of thing.

When I first got Hot Fuss i was unhappy that it wasn't all STM, and i only listened to STM, Mr Brightside, On Top and Jenny Was a Friend of mine.
But slowly the other songs grew on me.
I'm afraid I haven't given Sam's town enuff of a listen to grow on me! surprised sweatdrop

Well I had more songs that I knew from Hot Fuss than Sam's Town but both CDs were great. They both of course had different feels to both of them but I liked them both.I liked "Sam's Town","When You were Young", "Bones" and "Uncle Johnny".So I really liked this CD which is good and stuff.

Now, I love pretty much every Killers song that I have ever heard. But I guess that even if you love it, The Killers music is kind of like an acquired taste. Y'know? 3nodding

Opinion: It is absolutely amazing.
Favorite Song: This River Is Wild, Bling (Confession of a King), Why Do I Keep Counting? (In that order)
Better than Hot Fuss: Hells yes.
Expectations: Well, I have to say my expectations for this CD was pretty high, really high, and they definitely met them and more. I love Sam's Town.
Etc.: I love how they made the CD like it was a real place. Instead of an interlude, they had an enterlude and exitlude, which I thought was really fantastic, and they put the songs in a very cool order. It was like they were walking us through Sam's Town, telling a story of the American way of life while doing so.

Opinion: Its really good, but not one of the best albums in the past 20 years like Brandon Flowers said.
Favorite Song: When you were young, Bones, Read My Mind, and Uncle Johnny.
Better than Hot Fuss: Hot Fuss is slightly better than Sams Town.
Expectations: When i heard the band was going to experiment and make something completely different i knew the change was going to be either for the good or bad, and it definitely was for the good. =)
Etc.: Eventhough the album wasnt as great as Hot Fuss (in my opinion), i have a lot of respect for the band for experimenting and not sticking to just one type of music just to please the critics.
