I reallly feel sorry for you, we should all go out and attack all dentists that do that.
I feel sorry for him too, but consider this. Everyone with a human body must consume food, and that means chewing. Chewing entails a side-to-side grinding motion of the teeth, for humans. Though some are born with "fangs," the mouth is not meant for them, and it's a genetic anomaly, no more. Eating (and sleeping, as people often grind their teeth in their sleep) with fangs in the mouth can lead to dental problems such as an unhealthy wearing-down of teeth in contact with the fangs.
I know first hand what misplaced teeth can do. I have a tooth that will always be oddly grooved from some problems with an oddly turned tooth when I was little. I had to get braces in the 1st grade to save it and the surrounding teeth. So having teeth (or extra long teeth) where they don't need to be causes some ugly problems, you see.
That's why the dentist shaved his teeth-- to save his mouth. The dentist was simply doing his/her job, and protecting his dental health.
So if he wants fangs, getting professionally-fitted ones that he can remove while eating and sleeping are probably better for him health-wise at any rate.
