Indeed... Sonya-san is correct... and further more... your post does not have anything to do with the topic... so the next time you post in here... please make sure to comment on Youko's personality. If you veer off topic after stating your opinion on his personality then that's fine.

*chuckles* No doubt Yoko had to be ruthless as hell when he had to be, but as previously stated he was and is a powerfully loyal companion, so long as you don't backstab him first. It takes a certain kind of coldness and distance to lead a gang, but also a kind of warmth and personality to be (at the least) a well-liked ruler, if not loved.

Kurama/Shuichi is just as ruthless and cutthroat, and just as protective of his people as before; only now, he has human love to temper him and inspire him to frustrating bouts of near-suicidal heroics. Which I wish he'd just stop, already. He's intelligent and an expert at tactics and strategies. About the only difference between him and Yoko is that Kurama is much better at dissembling and hiding who and what he is behind a soft-spoken demeanor. You see behind that mask more than once at the Dark Tournament.

*nods* Yes... I agree... I'm too tired to actually go into detail, but yes... good job with your explanation.

3nodding Also Kurama had no need to become a fighter really....He had to be good before he met Hiei right...so why did he start fighting
PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2007 2:07 pm

His heart had already grown fond of Shiori by the time he met Hiei... and so the second time they met Kurama used that opportunity to get the ankoku Kyo to save shiori's life. After that the initial reason why he started fighting was to work off his punishment in Reikai... then he was forced into fight in the ankoku Bujutsukai by Touguro... and the reason why he didn't refuse was because it was already made known to him that if he objected the people closest to him would be killed. The sealing up of the tunnel... well... again i included him too because of his family. If he hadn't helped out... it was likely demons would make Earth their playground... And then... well... the Makai Touitsu Tournament saga... Yomi pretty much... used his family against... so yeah... Kurama fights for the sake of his family.

I find Youko Kurama's personality to be quite dominering and cold, but I find that he's still capable of making friends, (Kuronue- from the movie).

I see you've gone on about him having to fight to while trying to become king... and you have to think of Raizen and Mukuro- the ones he's trying to build up power to. I mean, even then they must have been S class or more considering that when Youko Kurama started building his name (if indeed it was around 1000 years before) that Raizen was probably still eating humans and thus being quite the advisary to our Kitsune.

Shuuchi on the other hand, he's quite the fellow, calm facade like, it's rather amusing with all the other Meiou High students, such as Yuu Kaitou. He seems to not mind toying with them a bit, but as his style is he likes to figure them out first before going for the kill- so to say.

Oh... i wouldn't count out Raizen and Mukuro. Obviously they were already in place and definitely the top youkai to beat. if they hadn't been in his way it is likely he would have had an easier time reaching the top. There is no mention of the youkai before Raizen or Mukuro which leads me to believe that if the two of them could take out those who may have been in charge before... Youko Kurama wouldn't have had a tough time... or rather he would have had less difficulty reaching his goal. Shuuichi just really has no desire to reach the top in physical power any longer now that "human values" are instilled in him. my whole thing is... at what point did he know Kuronue?... I am thinking it is before Yomi and his followers because after the whole mess with Yomi betraying him well... it is said that he vanished and went to thieve in Reikai. I've noticed that at some points Reikai is referred to as being more vast than just being the place souls go to be judged and sentenced. Kurama even says that the Reikai they know is just the initial starting place for spirits. However what about spirits like Koenma and Botan... There must be a whole land in that realm dedicated to spirits solely born of that world. maybe I am over analyzing things... Forgive me. I go from Kurama to Reikai, but the two are connected.

He did know Kuronue first as i belive Yomi came later it started out as the two of them however...Yoko's whole past isn't spelt out so we wont know what he really did unless there is moreinformation in the books ....

Right. i have read fan fictions where apparently Youko Kurama, Kuronue, and then Yomi had all joined up. I don't necessarily believe that's the case. I think Kuronue was long dead when Yomi came around.

From that small snip in the show Kuronue wasn't there so i wouldn't belives so either unless Yomi came first....i think it makes more sence having Yomi come first

Of all of the characters in Yu Yu Hakusho, Kurama in general is the most difficult to describe. Sometimes he's two people in the same body and sometimes he's not. I think it really depends on what the viewer thinks is sexy and what they want Kurama to be.

Personally, I think that although Youko Kurama is a ruthless bandit and has shown a cutthroat nature that makes any warrior tremble in fear, he seems to have a gentler side to him that lies deep within his soul. (Really REALLY deep) He is extremely charismatic and has a friendly nature until one gets in his way. Between the two of them, Youko is definitely the more stoic, two-faced of the two personalities.

Kurama, on the other hand, is more compassionate than his fox counterpart. Still, you can see the killer nature in him though his conscience beats the crap out of him after he kills. (Unless they're Karasu.)

Finally, the one misconception of the two being one person or two. In the English version of the aftermath from fighting Karasu, Youko states that his "time on the outside is short." and then, in a final breath, says, "Don't ruin this, Suichi." Then, the red-head says in reply, "Agreed." Surely proof that they are two different people. Right? Nope! In the Japanese version, the dialog is completely different. Youko begins a sentence just as the de-transformation begins and halfway through, Kurama's voice cuts in seamlessly as if the same person with different voices was talking the entire time!

Wow!....That's a lot to take in!...I'm such a Yu Yu geek.... sweatdrop

Yay~! Another person who also realize that Youko Kurama and Minamino Shuuichi are/is really just a single individual with two physical forms.

You get a batch of internet-brownies.
