religion is dumb. look at how much strife it causes our world even today. religion is indeed opium and a tool for the bourgeoisie to enslave us with

But in all actually morality and religion will disapear in communism, which is the true goal of that statement. I'm sorry if my sentance above is confusing. Marx is saying that EVERY revolution prior to has instilled a new form of morality on society, communism will not do this, it will simply abolish what we see today as morality and it will not come back. Nor will communists create a new form of religion or morality or ideal of justice they will simply cease to exist.

exactly, and gallenger, you should have exlpained why though... as i see it, and i havent read all of marx's works unfortunately, so i could be mistaken, is morality is a code which binds society under one common badge, so that the current ruling class can be seen as good and worthy by promoting this kind of unity, and morals in and of themselves, help the bourgeoisie to enslave us, for instance, look at the ten commandments.
thou shalt not steal: this says that we cannot unlawfully take what is not ours and upon which we have no right, its effect in practice is to prevent, through morality and fear of a vengeful god, people who have nothing from taking what they need from those who have enough to supply them.
thou shalt not covet thy neighbours propperty: this says we should not be jealous and want what others have but we not, the result in reality is to prevent people from WANTING to take "property" off those who own it
thou shalt not kill: says not to kill, simple realy, but the effect this has is to make people reluctant to fight for their material interests, at least against those to whome this morality applies.
the result of these three is thus:
poor people should not want what rich people have(ie: have no desire to advance their living conditions), and should not take what is the rich peoples lawful property(and thus in reality advance ones living conditions) and should not kill(not even if the rich are greedy and inadvertantly killing millions of people, they should not be killed, it is their right to live).
that anyway is my interpretation, i did get the idea off someone, but i forget who, so if anyone has read something similar, pleas tell me....
(oh, and sorry, i could have attacked all the commandments, but i dont know all of them, and i dont have a bible on me...)
oh and another thing, look at buddism, and hinduism, they stratify society into castesbased on what the person supposedly did in their former life, thus making people suffer and be content about it because they think they deserve it.

Yes, you are basically right Gracchvs, the ideas of Morality, religion, and justice; are all things used to support a ruling class, hence why they will die in communism, as there is no ruling class.

leo hikari i personally have nothing against religion but when people begin to become prejudice and hateful over it then it goes out of line But that is religion by it's very nature, prejudiced. It teaches you to hate all other religions and to root them out wherever they are with your own, that everything and everyone different than you is vile and unworthy to exist in the eyes of the lord, and is thus, a huge sociological disease that needs to be exterminated.

Norm of Okinawa i personally have nothing against religion but when people begin to become prejudice and hateful over it then it goes out of line Norm of Okinawa and is thus, a huge sociological disease that needs to be exterminated. However to do so by means other than education would to be commit actions equivalently atrocious as those committed by religious zealots. Norm of Okinawa But that is religion by it's very nature, prejudiced. This is the mode all persecutors use to rally the people against anything only in this case it is religion. I have heard the same argument only in different contexts used by all who seek to eradicate something from society.

I was implying it be done so via communism's teachings, not for the sake of destroying religion to hurt their followers, but to defeat the religion's control over people's mindset so that they can focus on building a communist nation. Yes, that is what people use to prosecute others. (I didn't get that at first) the very mindset they use with religion is the the mindset they use to oppress and destroy rights, people, etc.
