As Mike Virus said, "If punk's dead, then what's this noise we're making?"

Answer: Crappy chaos punk lolol

actually bands like the virus are what make punk not much more than a fashion and an "i dont give a ********" attitude. its funny how their booklets are chok full of their pics, the band with a jacked on on a street, the band with the jacket OFF in another street, the band with the same jacket but DIFFERENT PATCHES on another street, etc.

punk has different subgroups, so you cant really stereotype them into one definition. one definition would be "angsty youth counterculture".

i am an anarchopunk so i dont really believe that, but i dont really give a ******** what punk is, much more things going on than some lousy culture fad.
another definition is:a young male partner of a homosexual
i love you

I don't call myself a punk and I don't call myself a skinhead (the latter for obvious reasons). I just say "I'm just some tripper from the big city" or something corny like that.

I view lables in two ways:

One: The good aspect of lable is that they do allow you to differenciat things in to groups. Canned goods are a good example. But this can also be taken badly. Preps, Punks, Goths, Gays so on and so forth....

which leads me in to TWO:

I refuse to call myself anyting but "Sally". Why? because that is my name. I leave it to everyone else to lable me as they see fit. At the local Denny's I'm "The Girl that always has money and tips." Why? because that is what I am. When i was in highschool I was the "Anti-social band geek", during my short stent at college i was the "Virgin Queen". While persay none of the above lables are very mean or bad, they can be seen as being so by others. I learned years ago that lableing yorself is not necessarly a good thing. Lables come with a sterotype that once brought upon yourself is hard to get rid of and you begin to honestly persive yourself as that way. I honestly thought for a long time that no one wanted to be with me because I was slightly "anti-social" while in reality i was very shy.

But that is just my thoughts on it. *shrugs* To each their own as I say.

What's in a name?

Well hell if I know I'm not a Shakespearean scholar!
It's so hard to know these days...

in a name resides letters or symbols that is all anything beyond that is no longer a name but an idea

well i read an interview with klaus flouride from dead kennedys and he said you could be a punk, which is basically conforming to the stereotype of mohawks and leather jackets and kneehole jeans and anarchy symbols and the ******** off attitude, or you caould have punk be a part of your lifestyle...which is DIY, supporting freedom and equality, enjoying punk music, etc and not conforming to the stereotype that people try to cash in on. of course if you wanna have a mohawk, thats cool too, but the mohawk doesnt mean that punk is part of your lifestyle.
