Two of the younger males of the herd, where already trying out their sparring. The paler one, Keir, was quite the oddball of the herd, tending to keep to himself most of the time and not speak out...unlike his cousin Ronno. Who was rather flamboyant and boastful. He would be very formidable male when he was older, already sprouting a pair of antler's. And even though they where small, he still pretended they where the best.
"Admit it!" The young buck snorted at his lighter cousin. "You'll never beat me! I'm just too good!"
The younger of the two, didn't reply, but arched a brow questioningly at his cousin before pawing at the ground threateningly. To which Ronno immediatly took the charging position before both did so, however, the end result, as always, was Keir ending up on his backside. Only to the dark amusement of the darker calf who laughed at his cousin's misfortune.
Keir snorted at this. "Ahh put a sock in it Ronno."

A young hind made her way across the meadow, head occasionally dipping to the ground to rip up a tasty looking piece of grass or clover. Unlike many of the other does and hinds, she didn't have a companion to chat with, and instead seemed happy to idle her day away grazing and staring up at the cloud filled sky.
She was winsome looking thing, with big light green eyes, that held a dreamy quality. As if she was forever in another, beautiful place of her own choosing. Occasional she would look around, smile and exclaim over a butterfly as it flew across her path. Dyani appeared to be a calm and very happy deer, and she was.
The long-legged hing, waggled her short little tail, and looked around with a quirky smile in her eyes. It was such a pretty day. With the sun shining so nicely. Nearby her mother chatted with a number of the older females, their fawns prancing around the meadow. They paid her little notice. Quite used to the fact that she was a funny creature and no good for conversation.

"Well, you see, Aline, it's more than just making decisions." The Lord of the Herd dipped his antlers to lightly hold back the branches of a tree for the young doe following him. It rather seemed as if he had taken her in as something just shy of being his daughter, and took to talking to her whenever he had time to spare. "It's about everything else that goes with it. If the world falls into place, you just have to follow along with the path."
The stag and the doe made their way across the meadow, pushing the tall stalks of grass back as they went, immersed in conversation. It was good for both of them, this strange, almost paternal bonding. Aline was shy, and frankly, she had been without a friend for too long within the herd. Fell Lore knew of her friendship with a young buck by the name of Tergen, but after all, he was a buck and a member of the Corps. She rarely saw him, and apart from their brief conversations when they did meet, she talked little to anyone else.
It had been that one thought that decided it for him, and he had gotten to know her and the two had gotten on famously. She had been shy at first, yes, but gradually she had warmed up to him, and now the two were like father and daughter, carefree and happy in their daily strolls.
"Yea, okay, Fell, but why are you telling me this?" Aline asked skeptically, although down inside a strong sense of pride shone, reflecting her joy at being the one the Lord conversed with so often and taught. "I mean, I'm not ever gonna be Lord of the Herd, now am I? I think I'm missing something on my head." She laughed, shaking her head. "No antlers... huh, how'll I ever fight you for my Lordship?"
She was rewarded by the hearty bass chuckle of Fell as they continued to amble along. The Lord seemed oblivious to the other grazing hinds and does that littered the meadow with their fawns and calves playing rambunctiously at their sides. "Wait, whoa..." Aline, leaned against the Lord quickly, and he jumped to one side, narrowly missing a rather pretty brown hind. Aline shook her head in mock disappointment. "Ah, Fell. I'da thought you would know better than to be crashing into ladies like that! How did you ever manage to hold of a rebellion?"
Fell chuckled, shaking his head in returned. He dipped his head apologetically at the hind. "My apologies. It seems young Aline here has become my eyes." His blue and amber eyes twinkled merrily - a stark contrast to the towering eighteen-pointed head of antlers.

It wasn't as if Dyani was paying any attention to anything. There were so many other things to be marvelling over without worrying about what the other deer were doing, so by the time she'd realized there was actually someone beside her, someone who had apparently nearly run into her, Fell was already making apologies and she was slightly confused. The light brown deer turned, blinked her light green eyes and then graced both the lord of the herd and the doe with a smile. "Well hello." She said, her voice low, yet steady.
Catching only a bit of Fell's word she replied with a cute tilt to her head. "You can never have too many eyes." Dyani agreed, wondering briefly what it would be like the more than two. It was certainly be easier to see things coming, but where would they go? There wasn't much more room on the face, without it looking somewhat unnatural. Eyes on the neck? Certainly not. As she considered this new, and interesting, idea Dyani stared off into the distance with a quizzical look on her pretty face.
By the time she came back to earth, she'd quite forgotten what the other two deer were doing there at all but decided to grab them in conversation anyway. "Nice day isn't it? I love it. So much sun, and the birds are always singing. Oh, you're the lord of the herd aren't you? You have lovely eyes. I've always wondered what it would be like to have eyes of two different colours. It's very unique."

At the hind's mention of having too many eyes, the Lord blinked, and he and Aline exchanged glances, at which she burst into a small fit of giggles. Typical Aline. She was so jovial and happy around him that recently, it had started to seem that the smallest thing could make her laugh. At least, it was good that way. He liked it when she was happy. She was young yet, and in his mind, no young doe should ever feel their spirits dampened.
Fell himself managed a chortle at the hind's innocently posed question, nodding his head gently in confirmation that he was, indeed, Lord of the Herd. His eyes twinkled at their mention. "Why, thank you, I've always considered them rather special myself." He said with a smile, eyeing Aline. "Although somebody thinks two eye colors makes one look stupid."
Aline burst out laughing. "Why, of course, Fell! You're about the dumbest looking Lord that ever walked the land!" She teased. "Oh, don't mind him, being Lord's made him go funny to the head." She told the hind, ignoring his look of mock indignation. He was always so much fun around her, but she knew how dull being Lord could be. She had seen him conversing with some of his Outriders, and how all they ever really truly discussed in depth was the safety of the herd, reports of scouting, and things that could truly put the Herla to sleep.
The young doe shot a glance at the Lord. Realizing that he wasn't about to say anymore, she decided to take the voicing into her own hands. "Well, you know both our names. What's yours?" She asked the hind, her courage spiked by the comforting presence of Fell beside her.

The hind blinked and watched the two giggling like fawns, completely bemused. But that didn't stop her from smiling herself, merely at seeing the lord and a doe getting along so well. It wasn't that she was surprised, for she treated everyone exactly the same, with love and compassion. This was a pleasing sight, and although she might seem dippy and in the clouds all the time, when she snapped out of her daze and floated down from wherever she wandered, she was a smart little thing, that often saw more than others.
Still, those moments were few and far between. Though should anything bad occur, she would be on the ball within moments. Not that anyone had seen her like that. So to the herd, Dyani was simply the scatterbrained young hind that sometimes walked into trees. Smiling pleasantly, and still having no idea what was happening, Dyani simply watched and listened. Though occasionally her gaze would begin to wander, for nothing could capture her attention for long.
"Oh, my name?" She was only too happy to supply it. "Dyani. My name is Dyani. It's a pleasure to meet both of you both. Though I'm sure I've run into both you at one time or another. Have I? I tend to forget other deer."

"Dyanai..." Aline repeated. "It's a great name." She smiled at the hind, and nodded. "We must have some time or another." She told Dyanai. "And him, well Fell's Lord, is he not? You must have run into him some time. Unless he's not doing his job... In which case..." She was interrupted by a sarcastic snort from the tall stag, at which she laughed and shook her head, amused.
"Dyanai is a wonderful name, as Aline here just said." Fell said, throwing Aline a nudged which knocked her off balance and made her take a few steps to recover. "But I don't believe I have seen you before. Of course, that does not imply in any way that I am not doing my duty, now is it?" He shot the young doe a glance, feeling a smile creep its way into the stony expression of exclusion he had tried to keep on his face. No such luck.

"Really? You think so?" For a second the hind seemed startled, before breaking out in a big, bright smile. "Oh, thankyou. I don't think anyone's ever said that to me before." Not many of the others talked to her, and as far as her mother was concerned, once you got to your fourth fawn names were just picked at random. "Oh, I've seen him from afar once or twice. But we've never talked. But we should talk more. Yes, that would be a very good thing."
Dyani continued to smile vaguely, looking back and forth between Fell Lore and Aline. "I don't get to talk that much. So it would be very good. Besides..." She gave them a positively sly look before glancing up at the sky, her expression once again somewhat blank. "... to be seen with such a prominent, handsome, virile stag will be sure to make all the other hinds... a little jealous."

"We should talk more," Fell said with a smile that was starting to seem a little more than just polite. He shot a glanced at Aline, who rolled her eyes in response. "Why, I'm sure they'll be very jealous." Fell chuckled, giving his antlers a shake, as he so often liked to do, more out of habit than anything else.
Aline grinned, nodded. "Oh, yes, you have a wonderful name. I mean, there's an extent to how nice Aline can sound, but Dyanai'll sound exotic forever." She gave Fell a look, one that clearly held a well-ask-her message, which he seemed to have decided to ignore.

"At least my sister will. I do believe she's been trying to catch your eye for a number of Anlachs. But you seemed less than interested. It was... fascinating." As far as Dyani was concerned, anything her sister did was fascinating. The upstart, arrogant older hind tried to get herself the best of everything but always managed to fall flat on her face. Dyani would have felt sorry for her, if she could have been bothered. Masra was a pretty hind, all her problems were her personalities fault.
"Are you sure? Exotic? I'm sure I met another older deer with the same name... but maybe I was mistake." Dyani was clearly taken aback and somewhat confused with the conversation, but otherwise pleased. So pleased she readily began to praise Aline. "Oh, I'm not so sure about your name. It's a delightful sounding name. A lasting name. And you're very pretty. So it suits you."

Fell felt his smile broaden yet. "Why, I suppose I tend to notice hinds who do less." He said, thinking back to the fateful Anlach in which Danica had approached him and had openly let him know her true feelings. It was all he had needed as initiative to fight for her, and he found that he much preferred simple and straightforward speech like such as opposed to fancy tricks and stunts whose sole purpose was to gain his interest, or perhaps even his attention. Perhaps he had been built wrongly by Herne, he simply... didn't see the tricks.
"It still sounds nice." Aline said with a grin, thanking the hind for her compliment of her name. "Well, I'm not the only pretty one here."

Dyani could quite possibly spend a whole day trading compliments, but she held back, knowing that probably wasn't the best thing to do. Instead she gave Aline a sweet smile and shook her head. When Aline grew up, then she would understand what a darling creature she was and how pretty. That Dyani was sure of. Turning her attention back to Fell she giggled, remembering the showing display her sister had put on. "Well, you certainly didn't pay any attention to her. I'm not sure what her problem is, she met a handsome stag and has a cute fawn by her side. But she's always been picky."

Fell chuckled. "I've never known any picky deer." He said rather sarcastically, rolling his eyes toward Aline, who pulled a face and pretended to kick him. It was true, though. Fell knew full well how emotionally attached to Tergen the young doe was, and he knew, too, that she would settle for nothing less when the time came. That is, if she had a choice about it. And if she didn't, she would never rest until the handsome buck was in her reach again.
"You know," Fell started. He had never been one to like hinting, and especially not in front of Aline, but it was a time like this in which he did. "My harem's a few does short, in fact." He said, his blue eye peering meaningfully at Dyani, while his amber eye roved off in a different direction in a sort of Lord-of-the-Herd embarrassment. How he had learned to operate the movement of his eyes seperately was a complete mystery.

Dyani was inspecting a nearby beetle. It was quite the shiny thing, clinging precariously to a blade of grass. But that didn't mean she wasn't listening, it just took a moment for things to make sense. There was a moments silence as that happened, with only the murmurs of the deer around them and the distant cawing of a crow to break it. But when she did finally realize a few things the hind blinked, turned her full gaze upon the slightly embarrassed looking Fell and simply stared.
As flighty as she was, Dyani wasn't stupid, and got the hint instantly. It was startling. No stag had shown an interest in her thus far, finding her too odd to bother with, and for this to come out of the blue... from the lord of the herd no less, well, it was positively astounding. But after a moment of looking as if she'd just walked into a tree, the light brown hind chuckled softly under her breath.
Looking up at the sky, she waited another second before speaking in that far off, dreamy tone of hers. "You know, we would make very pretty fawns."

Dyani's comment came as a bit of a surprise to Fell, even if he had made the first hint. He hadn't expected the reaction to be so calm. And he liked Dyani for that.
Aline almost choked. She caught Fell's immediately, wordless stare, and backed off, slipping away.
"I was under that same impression." Fell said with a smile. He knew, deep inside, that Danica would always be the love of his life, but Dyani... He'd only met her not very long ago, and already this pretty hind was coming as close to Danica as he had ever known. He liked her. It wasn't just the normal Anlach-hormones-fighting atmosphere. They were both here to make a choice - Anlach was nowhere near.
