Sakoii Tinne` Sakoii Tinne` Sakoii Since I'm Korean myself, I've been there. The plane ride is pretty long. It takes at least a day about. When you arrive there are lots of korean language already. The signs are beautiful. The neighborhoods are beautiful too. The streets are clean. Depending on which neighborhood you go to. The areas always change to urban or rural areas. Neither are "poor", as some would describe it, and it's always full of the welcoming korean people. I myself went to both kinds of areas and both are equal. The schools are great too. My uncle was a teacher so I went with him once to his class. The schools are always clean. Korea is a very clean place to visit and not that much different then other places in America. Most high scoolers in Korea wear uniforms. Most people think it would be like the japanese school animes. It's not really the whole sailor uniforms. The uniforms are much professional. As always it's clean and usually stays to a navy blue. Not all the time though. On my description other koreans could probably describe it better than me and have different opinions. Not all of Korea is the same so that's what makes it interesting and a great place to visit.
I hope my description at least gives some of you an idea. =] o.o It´s really that clean ? Man, Belgium most be one of the dirtiest places then Dx Although Prague is much much dirtier :3 It's not the cleaniest place you can imagine. It's pretty clean though. They make the shops outside attractive. lol Well, no place is completly dirt-free x3 True and it would be the rarest time if you find grafetti. (can't spell) What ? Wait.. No graffiti ?? D: I love long walls filled with grafitti though xD

I'd like to go too! I'm not Korean either but by the way Sakoii described it, It sounds like a really cool place to go too. That, and just seeing parts of Korea through Dramas, It really makes me wanna visit. Me and my cousins plan to visit once we've saved up and everything. Hopefully we'll get to. 3nodding

Korea is a nice place and it is a lot more urban than most people think. Though I was born in the United States, I was pretty much raised in Seoul (lived there for twelve years and I still return to visit my parents). Approximately seventy-percent of Korea's landmass is mountainous, and I think it is most beautiful in autumn and winter.
As for the neighborhoods, most people live in apartments these days, so usually neighborhoods are nothing more than large open parking lots surrounded by fifteen story buildings (though lately, Korea has begun making apartments up to twenty~thirty floors). Of course, not all of the neighborhoods are like this. The one I live in is rather different. A typical Korean neighborhood is usually considered something akin to an alleyway. There are nothing but one-line lanes for the cars and no sidewalks. The neighborhood I live in is arranged like a maze.
Compared to some of the American cities I've been to, Seoul is relatively clean, but there are many places I've been to where clean doesn't exactly describe the place. For example, Kangnam Station (a pretty popular hang-out place for the younger generation) is pretty filthy. Other places, like COEX mall and hotels can be very clean. Myung-Dong isn't too dirty either.
I wouldn't say that Korean public schools are clean. I've been to one of the best high school to take my SATs, and though the new building was very clean, the older ones actually looked like they needed a bit more cleaning. I also went to a middle school to take the French DELF exam, and that school wasn't very clean either. Maybe it's because I'm too accustomed to the international schools, which are much cleaner. So I guess it depends on which school you attended.
And the plane ride is indeed very long. It depends on where in the United States you are, but the least number of hours is nine hours. From where I am, my flight is approximately twelve~fourteen hours long. When you land in Incheon international Airport, you get a pretty good impression, but it's all about where you go to consider yourself disappointed or fascinated. The airport is clean and though Koreans aren't exactly friendly to strangers, once you get to know them, some can be very warm-hearted.
Also, unliked the United States, Koreans stay up until one~three in the morning. Hence, if you lived in a hot spot, you'd still see a lot of people milling about. The residential areas are rather peaceful and there aren't a lot of people.
The monsoon season occurs during the Summer (usually from July to August), so it's usually not a good idea to go tramping up into the mountains unless you want to get hurt. If you want to visit Chiri-san, which is very famous (due to its close ties to Korean history and mythology), I would suggest steering clear of that mountain in the summer because once a typhoon hits, the mountain rivers start flooding like crazy.
In the winter, Korea obviously gets very cold. Often times, from my experiences, the transition between October and November is marked by the sudden cold. So one minute, it could be 28 degrees celcius, and then when November comes around the temperature suddenly drops to about 10. There have been times where Korea was warm even until December though.
If you want to visit Korea, I would suggest going to the country side. The mountains in Korea are the most characteristic part. Their peaks are usually marked by rocks at the top, and it's quite picturesque. During Fall, the leaves on the trees change to a multitude of yellow and reds and is breath-taking. And while the beaches in Korea aren't exactly Miami, the dark rocks that jut out into the ocean is very pretty.
